23.01.2022 Dear friends - it is business as usual for Cooma Challenge Limited during this time. We are providing normal supports (but avoiding out-of-town outings). We recommend everyone keep abreast of conditions by monitoring Monaro Rural Fire Service.
21.01.2022 Dear friends Our website and receiving/sending emails will be off-line today as we are transitioning to our new hosting provider. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. (You can still reach our office by phone 6452 2156.)
21.01.2022 Dear friends, please note - our office will be closed next Monday 10 June.
19.01.2022 Cooma Challenge is pleased to advise that with the easing of COVID-19 restrictions in NSW, we will be able to resume some group services that have previously been suspended. Some of these will be in modified form for now before we resume our usual services once restrictions are eased further. Co-ordinators will contact clients affected by these changes early next week. So we can maintain a safe environment for everyone it will be important for all staff and clients to continue practicing good hand hygiene, maintain our 1.5m social distancing and not to attend, or to cancel services, if you are feeling unwell. We will be able to deliver services to clients who are unwell but unable to cancel - please let us know beforehand so we can take the appropriate safeguards to do so safely.
17.01.2022 There is plenty of good, current information on the health.gov.au website about the COVID-19 vaccination, supported and informed consent, and more.
15.01.2022 Our Jindabyne office is now open each Wednesday 8:30am to 4:30pm in the Snowy Mountains Neighbourhood Centre, Jindabyne. If you're an NDIS participant in the Jindabyne area, let us help you with your NDIS goals. Appointments can be made by contacting us on 6452 2156.
12.01.2022 We just wanted to let you know - today is International Asperger's Day - a day to recognise people all around the world who achieve great things and live with Asperger's Syndrome.
11.01.2022 Cooma Challenge Ltd. Coronavirus Update As the novel Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic sweeps the world, Cooma Challenge has had to make several changes to operations. This is particularly important as many of our aged care and disability clients are particularly vulnerable to this virus. We also have staff who are themselves members of vulnerable groups or live with family members currently at risk. Changes made to date see all group based activities cancelled until further no...tice. This includes our Australian Disability Enterprise, Pathways 2 Employment, Centre Based Respite and NDIS Groups. Where possible services are shifting to offering individual support, should this be safe and acceptable to clients and staff. Clients requiring additional support during this time should contact the office. Of paramount importance is that staff and / or clients notify us prior to providing / accepting any service if they, or someone in their household, experiences flu like symptoms, is diagnosed with COVID-19 or is ordered by a health professional into isolation or quarantine. NSW Health have comprehensive COVID-19 information published on their website and that is the source our decisions are based on. This is an evolving situation and further changes are expected. We want to thank everybody for your understanding and patience. This is a difficult time for all of us. The decisions made to date, and that will be made going forward, are taken in the best interests of everybody's health. It is my personal goal that all members of Cooma Challenge staff, clients and our families are alive and well once we emerge from this crisis. Darren Carr Chief Executive Officer
11.01.2022 Cooma Challenge has become aware of a scam involving another disability service provider we want to alert you about. A person claiming to represent another provider (who doesn't provide services in our area) has been calling people claiming to be their representative and asking for credit card details. Cooma Challenge does not currently accept credit card payments nor request clients’ bank account details. If anybody calls claiming to be from Cooma Challenge and is asking for financial account details please alert us and / or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 immediately. Do not provide any of your bank account details.
10.01.2022 For anyone who didn’t catch the #Logies last night, you missed an awesome speech (link below). Slowly, culture is changing in the #Australian entertainment ind...ustry, a catalyst for wider #cultural #change. Dylan Alcott won the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent. Dylan is a 28-year-old tennis player, #paralympian and Order of Australia inductee. His speech highlighted why #disability representation on TV is so important, and about becoming the disability TV personality he never got to see growing up. https://www.mamamia.com.au/dylan-alcott-speech/ TVWeek

05.01.2022 What our CEO does on his tea break: pushes vintage fire engines! This big red beastie is a new attraction at the Cooma Gaol Museum, outside our windows, & Darren helped get it into its display space.
