25.01.2022 The Federal Government has announced their HomeBuilder stimulus package today which includes a $25,000 grant for those who build a new owner occupied home. For first home buyers, this is in addition to the $15,000 Queensland First Home Owners Grant and the stamp duty waivure so you'll potentially have $40,000 available. We're still waiting for clarification from the Qld Government and Lenders on how the grant can be used as a deposit for your home but send us a message if you'd like to be kept up to date as the information comes to hand.

25.01.2022 COOMERA URBAN VILLAGE - 215-233 FOXWELL ROAD: We've had few people asking about the recent clearing on Foxwell Road and what's going in there. On the corner of Foxwell Road and George Alexander, applications were previously lodged for McDonalds and a service station. These applications have been withdrawn as the Council had concerns with them not fitting in with the residential plans for the Urban Village. No new plans have been lodged for this site.... Plans and images are included for the land that is currently being cleared through to the service station.

State 2 is well underway and will include the aquatic centre.... 24.01.2022 COSTCO MAYBE???? We visited Costco in Ipswich yesterday and mentioned that we'd love to have a store on the Gold Coast. A few staff members mentioned that the next store will be on the Gold Coast. One said northern Gold Coast and the staff member next to them said yes, it'll be in Coomera. We've searched and can't find any development applications but this 7 News report mentions Coomera as well. We've also head that German chain, Kaufland have been looking around Pimpama. 23.01.2022 YAWALPAH RD DEVELOPMENT: We've been asked what's happening now that site works have started next to McDonalds, Pimama. The approved plans show 104 townhouses/terrace homes to be built there.

23.01.2022 COSTCO COOMERA SITE PLANS: Here are the site plans for Costco and their petrol station. *The store site will include 767 parking spaces. ... *They expect to employ 330 full time and part time staff (250 full time equivalent). * Hours of operation will be 10am to 8:30pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 6:30pm on Saturday and 10am to 6:30pm on Sunday. * The two main entrances will be off Creek Road. Subject to approval, Costco are hoping to commence construction in early 2021.

11.01.2022 FOXWELL STATE SECONDARY COLLEGE: It was great to be able to check out the first stage of our newest school today. Just a reminder that the twilight evening is on this afternoon, Feb 7 with food (smelling great already), live music and market stalls. There will be guided tours of the school at 5:30 and 7:30.... The school is to be built over 3 stages and is planned to accommodate 2,500 students once complete.

09.01.2022 HOME FOCUS PIMPAMA: Plans have been lodged to the Council for the first buildings in Home Focus, Yawalpah Road, Pimpama. The first stage includes a BP Service Station, Wild Bean Cafe and Guzman Y Gomez. The full site plan and stage plans are also included in the plans.

09.01.2022 PROPOSED COOMERA MEDICAL CENTRE: An application has been lodged to Council for a large medical centre with an estimated 50 consultation rooms to be built at the Coomera Urban Village. The site is on the corner of Foxwell Road and Finnegan Way, Coomera. Whilst internal fitout plans are to be confirmed, the plans show 4,370m2 of floor space across 2 levels for the medical centre plus 2 levels of basement car parking providing 175 parking spaces.... The request is that the centre be allowed to open between 7am to 9pm, 7 days a week, although actual hours are not confirmed. The site previously had an approval in place for a child care centre and two retail/commercial buildings.

07.01.2022 FOXWELL STATE SECONDARY COLLEGE: THE name of the Gold Coast’s newest high school has been revealed. The State Government will name the state-of-the-art $64 million Coomera campus Foxwell State Secondary College in honour of George Foxwell, who was a pioneer of the region.... Education Minister Grace Grace wrote to area councillor Cameron Caldwell this week to inform him of the decision. I am pleased to advise I have approved Foxwell State Secondary College as the name for the new secondary school to be opened on Foxwell Road, Coomera in 2020, she wrote on Monday. The new school, accommodating students opening with Year 7, will service the rapidly growing Coomera region. The name was selected after more than 500 locals voted to decided what the school would be called. A naming committee whittled the choices down to two possible options for the new education facility either Foxwell State Secondary College or Marina View State Secondary College. The committee was made up of parents and other public figures. The Marina View title option was a reference to the school’s unique location and identifies the marina as a local landmark. Cr Caldwell welcomed the decision. I am very pleased with the announcement of a new name because it reflects this significant history figure of our local area, he said. We welcome the new infrastructure that will help service the growing community. The school, being built on Foxwell Road, will include coding and robotics laboratories, will open from term one next year catering to 1500 students. 07.01.2022 COOMERA CIVIC HUB: Cr Donna Gates has announced the Gold Coast's biggest community hub to be built on the land at the front of Westfield Coomera. It’s our biggest ever regional community centre. There will be a state of art library, a lot of community facilities. We are actually building an extra level on this facility so we can lease it out to the private sector, Cr Gates said.... We are going to plan ahead, build for the future. It will be massive. It’s something that’s been proposed for over 40 years that we would develop this area into one of our key regional areas in the city.

06.01.2022 PROPOSED - 215 FOXWELL ROAD RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION: Plans were lodged to the Council on Friday for a residential development on Foxwell Road, immediately to the west of the Coles Express Service Station. The proposed development includes 8 unit blocks ranging from 4 to 6 storeys, containing a total of 272 units. The first 4 unit blocks will front Foxwell Road and the remainder will be at the rear of the block. The proposal also includes 81 townhouses in the centre of the property along with a 5,000m2 park and 2 communal recreation areas.

06.01.2022 PROPOSED PIMPAMA SELF STORAGE FACILITY: Plans have been lodged to Council this week to build a three level self storage facility on the old Strawberry Farm site in Pimpama. Also included in the proposal is a car wash facility and a child care centre for up to 120 children.

The hardware chain today confirmed it hopes to submit a development application for a new warehouse in Pimpama, one of the Gold Coast’s fastest growing suburbs. According to Garry James, acting General Manager of Property at Bunnings, the proposed site is located on Yawalpah Road. Developer Baycrown will submit a development application for a new Bunnings Warehouse in Pimpama, Mr James said. According to the company the development would represent a $36 million investment. The site is planned to span 14,500 square metres with car parking for more than 380 cars. Once operational the development could create up to 190 new jobs for local residents. We look forward to working with our developer and the relevant authorities throughout the development application process, Mr James said.
