09.01.2022 There are lots of great stories as well as some big challenges in the scheme. If you want to have your say as participants of the scheme. Follow the link and give your feedback.
08.01.2022 There aren’t enough words to say how strongly we feel about the sacrifice and efforts every firefighter, their families and supporters like St John’s Ambulance and the SES has made for this country.
08.01.2022 An important message from the NDIA, please share this message. We currently support people who have regular support booked and are calling them all about how plans to sustain that support is being planned for. Make sure you talk to your providers about the people who support you if you have an NDIS plan.
08.01.2022 Illawarra - Please Share! Come and start with us as a Support Coordinator. Support Coordinator: Our team really want an extra person on board. We need someone ready to hit the ground running, so not a rookie this time, sorry. You've got to have experience as a Support Coordinator, or a service coordinator from a provider, but you need to have excellent NDIS knowledge. ... You need to be fabulously self motivated, organised, passionate about people living good lives, be thorough and be happy to work from home (we don't have an office). You need to have or get all the relevant clearances, and own a reliable insured vehicle or transport. You need to read our website and have a decent scroll though our Facebook page and understand our perspectives on things. We are not a "typical" provider. To start with you will need to be able to commit to offering 8-16hrs per week or equivalent of two days each week. We expect that this will grow as the business is growing quickly. The important thing is that we're a good fit for each other. Start ASAP. $$ are at or above industry standards, and negotiable to a point. About Us - We're a team of 4 who work toward people with disability and families living better lives. We aren’t building an empire, we are building a community of excellent coordinators who work closely with people to build their plans. How to apply - please send an email with your CV and a cover letter to: [email protected] Please don't ask questions here (but feel free to share or tag!), and read this post carefully before you apply to make sure you address our requirements. 03.01.2022 We're proud to support people in the Dharawal region on the NSW South Coast. The traditional custodians of the land in this region had a strong connection to the land rivers streams and oceans around it. Thank you yo NAIDOC.org.au for publishing these great resources.
03.01.2022 Today is International Day of Sign Language. Thank you Facilitate Occupational Therapy Services for sharing this picture earlier today. Let’s start by spelling our names. Have fun everyone.
02.01.2022 This country has a colourful history and an amazing story. At CIS we live on the NSW South Coast where the Yuin people called home. The area is part of the Dharawal (Turuwal) speaking region and the people who live here are in tune with the seasons and changes in local flora and fauna. The flowering wattles indicating that Bream were back in the area and ready to harvest. This is just a small anecdote of how important this land is to Australia's first people and we are grateful for learning more and more about its history as time goes by. Please feel free to share these stories with other people you know, and thank the Elders for keeping the history alive.
01.01.2022 NDIS & Support Coordination Discussion Paper. Every Australian Counts page posted a great discussion point which we’ve modified to work from an Independent Support Coordinator’s perspective. We want everyone who wants to have a day to share their views about what’s working and what not working with Support Coordination and their plans? Last week the NDIS launched a discussion paper about Support Coordination. Seeking feedback. ... We understand that Support Coordination is a really important part of the NDIS. And we know how important it is to the people we support every day. Some parts of it are really really helpful - like getting help to navigate and understand the scheme and their plan, and having someone help find and organise the supports they need. As independent Support Coordinators we understand how important it is to connect with support from a variety of services. It becomes challenging when people who need critical support or miss out. So it's good the NDIS are taking a good look at it and asking questions about what needs to change. And it's really important they hear from the people who use it or need it - People with disability and families. Please feel free to share these links with your friends and family. You can find out how to get involved from the Have Your Say section of the NDIS website - https://www.ndis.gov.au//have-your-say/support-coordination And if you want to know more about what a support coordinator is, and what they should and shouldn't do - check out this great fact sheet from VALID - https://www.valid.org.au/what-expect-your-support-coordina/ (Image description: screenshot of the Support Coordination Discussion Paper page on the NDIS website)
01.01.2022 If you have an NDIS Plan and need to use technology to support you with connecting to Telehealth Appointments the NDIS Has updated its policy to enable this. Check out the following useful link that can help you with this opportunity.
