21.01.2022 COONALPYN COMMUNITY GARDEN OPENING - 11 MARCH Who loves fresh, seasonal, locally grown produce?? We sure do! Council and the Coonalpyn Community Hub have partnered to create the Coonalpyn Community Garden, a fresh food project that received funding through the SA Healthy Towns Challenge.... Garden volunteers have done an amazing job in creating a sustainable community garden that will produce seasonal fruit, vegetables and herbs for the Coonalpyn community to enjoy. The community garden will be officially opened next week on Thursday 11 March at 2pm, with special guest Sophie Thomson (ABC Gardening Australia presenter) in attendance. 20.01.2022 || Community Drought Outreach Event - Tailem Bend, 16 March || National Drought and North Queensland Flood Response and Recovery Agency and Rotary Australia Community Outreach Events are coming to Tailem Bend on TUESDAY 16 MARCH to provide support and advice on the drought, flood and challenges like COVID-19. These events bring together all levels of government, charities, not-for-profit and agricultural organisations to support farmers and rural and regional communities li...ving through the immediate and longer-term effects of drought. It is an excellent opportunity for farmers, families and rural communities to grab a bite to eat, catch up with friends and neighbours and find out what support is available during drought and tough times. Come down to the Tailem Bend Town Hall, between 10am 2pm and say hello.

17.01.2022 You may have noticed some Coorong Council signage located on Granites Road in Tailem Bend. This signage is relating to the Granites Road project that will look to repair the drainage under the road and the damage to the road surface. This has been an ongoing issue for quite some time and Council are investigating options to repair the issues.

Community groups may be aware that updates to COVID-Safe Plans were applied automatically last week by SA Health in line with new restrictions. 04.01.2022 Please be aware that SA Health has issued a Health Alert for SA regions along the River Murray. SA Health maintains a number of surveillance strategies associated with mosquito borne viruses in SA. These include keeping a flock of sentinel chickens near Meningie for regular testing. Council has been made aware that one of the chickens has tested positive to Murray Valley Encephalitis Virus and Kunjin virus and are assisting SA Health with their investigations. We encourag...e residents and visitors to the area to protect against mosquito bites, by wearing long, loose fitting, light coloured clothing and using insect repellent which contains DEET or picaridin.
