25.01.2022 Came across this fella foraging along the waters edge this afternoon.

24.01.2022 Rob with a couple of nice ones from last nights action

23.01.2022 How cool is this, a very young Anthony Taifalos caught his first Barra around 50cm with us in April 2017. Some 3 3/4 years later he came back with dad Gary and caught an 82cm, his PB . Hopefully in a year or 2 he will get his first Metre fish.

23.01.2022 Duncan and young Harry caught a few nice Barra yesterday afternoon in nice conditions. Lake has risen about 1.3 m and is still around 1.9m below full.

23.01.2022 With the weather improving today, great time to be on the lake. Water level is now .7m below full, giving access to some of the remote streams. With the rain of early this week fishing has been good except Friday evening when wind and rain came through! A few cassowary encounters to keep things interesting!

23.01.2022 Tom and Fiona came up for an afternoon on the lake, were greeted by a cassowary on the way down to our recreational area . Tom caught a pair of Barra , happy days.

23.01.2022 Denis and the boys sent me this bit of video from last night. Apologies for the low light, but if you look there is a Barra hooked up and jumping . For perspective it’s a fish in the 80-90 cm range and about 2 meters in the air quite spectacular. The interesting thing is if you notice the lure actually comes out and is smashed by a second Barra of 85cm which we landed. We all thought we saw what we saw but the video confirmed it! Thanks guys.

22.01.2022 Beautiful morning, water temperature is 24deg and rising . Kayakers away. Smoke on the water first up with the air being cooler then the water. Dissipated now but cool to see literally!

19.01.2022 Hope everyone had a good Fathers Day. We had a little family time yesterday morning and a full afternoon with lots of Families taking advantage of the afternoon up the lake, full house. I did a charter with the Powell family and with some persistence managed to catch their children Charlotte and Jamison their first Barra. Jamison managed a cracking 87cm Barra which he managed to land with some guidance from his Dad Ryan. The fish has a tag in it and was tagged up the lake in March 2017 at 56 cm.

19.01.2022 Full moon Barra Fest continues with young Thomas getting amongst them and Jasmine with a nice one

15.01.2022 Cassowaries have been photographed the last 2 days by our kayakers. Here one from Nichole and her family today.

14.01.2022 With the rain, we’ll have a couple of days off until things settle down. Nice morning yesterday and the kayakers and paddle boarders had fun. Pleasant afternoon fishing a bit quiet first up but Cody and Jessie persisted and caught a couple of Barra to 81cm. Thanks Lisa

14.01.2022 Brayden with a nice one from this morning. We caught another and lost a few, one a particularly large specimen

14.01.2022 Why did the chicken cross the road? Always be cassowary aware on Lake Morris Road!

14.01.2022 Australia Day done right. It should have been National Cassowary and Barra day. We saw no less then 5 cassowaries including a beautiful chick and the Barra were active. Interesting the irrepressible George and little George were not amongst the cassowaries sighted. Heaps of native fruit on the banks at the moment.

12.01.2022 Great afternoon up the lake with Andrea and Geoff , both caught their first Barra. Ive had the new Rob Payne Engineering transducer pole on the boats for a few days now. Very handy at locating Barra especially while at anchor or spot lock. The ability to rotate the transducer and scan the area, and direct casting is invaluable!

11.01.2022 Glamour weather today and for rest of the week. Lots of Barra marking. Open all week, locals rates from $50. SUP Kayaking or fishing. Bookings essential. Kim 0408187291

11.01.2022 Explored a remote steam yesterday. The recent unseasonal rain has been kind to Rainforest Funghi, stunning colours.

11.01.2022 Ran into George this morning mooching around the lake edge, whilst out for a quick trip to test out our boat. Caught a couple of fat sooty grunter and a couple of small Barra. An eel on a vibe was something different!

11.01.2022 Sitting by the lake having a drink!

11.01.2022 Visited one of the Barramundi hatcheries that supplied our fish today. Took some slow mo video of the fish feeding. Barra dont have teeth and are implosion feeders. Never get sick of that sound!

10.01.2022 Not ideal in terms of timing or advice but Please note our customers are allowed through. UPDATE electronic signage at base states Monday to Friday 0600 to 1700.

10.01.2022 Nice afternoon up the lake with Rob, found stacks of Barra, getting them to bite, not so easy. Rob came through with a couple , so happy days in cool conditions.

10.01.2022 Came across a very inquisitive cassowary yesterday. This one was on the western side of the lake away from any possible human interaction. It’s crown is quite small and I suspect it’s the smaller bird of a pair I saw a couple of times this time last year. Matt and Norm were fishing with me and this one came trudging out of the rainforest, and kept us company.

08.01.2022 After a quiet session on Friday evening with only a couple of sooties landed a few Barra missed, had a good evening tonight. Caught a bunch of good sized sooties (including this hump headed version) and then landed a few nice Barra with Les and Ian.

07.01.2022 https://youtu.be/UsoB8B6JA4k Copperlode Fish and Kayak on IFish yesterday. Check it out!

06.01.2022 Had a lunchtime visitor hanging around!

06.01.2022 Luck of the Irish! The fishing was tough this school holidays, 80mm of rain in a day early on and lots of drizzle days dropped the water temperature and turned the fish off. I stopped taking bookings for guided fishing after a couple of donut days despite fish marking everywhere. Some lighter winds and a couple of days of sunshine increased temperature gave me some encouragement. Aaron and Jamie wanted to go today and I gave them the be prepared to be disappointed but there is a better chance spiel. The afternoon started the same, fish everywhere no bites, then a couple of taps. An encounter with another cassowary ( not George) and things were looking up. Aaron eventually landed his first ever Barra , then his second. Thanks boys!

06.01.2022 Denis, Jed and Brock came up for an evening session. We caught some nice Barra and a fat sooty. Came across the same inquisitive cassowary as Tuesday, I have decided to name it little George. Interestingly one of the Barra Jed caught had a tag it it. It was released in October 16 at 5cm, tagged in March 17 at 42 cm and recaptured and released last night at 87cm.

06.01.2022 Windy and cool up the lake this afternoon, no rain was a bonus. Found 7 nice schools of Barra, but the drop in temperature made them hard to motivate. We had 3 bites and landed 1 . Pauly was wrapped to catch his first Barra and it was a good one. A cassowary came down to watch the fight !! The fish are in prime condition, cant wait for a few nice days of weather and it will be on!!

05.01.2022 Something a bit different today, took my good friend Tina Redmond and her Dad Tom for a trip around the lake photographing bird life. Tom was one of the many who worked on building the dam and had many an interesting story. Both have exceptional knowledge of the flora and fauna. We were lucky to run into George the Cassowary. He is looking very dapper in his pre mating colours. His crest is a brilliant gold colour.
