24.01.2022 How is copywriting like a taco?

23.01.2022 Writing a home page doesnt have to be overwhelming. Heres how to write a home page that is compelling and converts readers into customers. https://kmlowrey.com/how-to-write-a-home-page/

22.01.2022 My phone rings. An unknown number. I pick it up with my standard, Hello, this is Kristen. Before I begin speaking to the client on the other end, I already know theres a 50% chance theyre ringing about SEO work. (Great! I love SEO work!) Theres also a 50% chance theyre ringing for straight content. (Also great! I love writing!) [ 1,772 more word ] https://kmlowrey.com/how-to-write-your-about-page/

20.01.2022 I fully support 4ocean! Check them out!

19.01.2022 I just learned that we're the average of the 5 people we spend the most time with. I have 3 kids. So, if you need me, I'll be in the bath, in my robe, eating noodles. Don't bother knocking. 3/5 of me never does either.

19.01.2022 I love seeing my incredible clients get the attention they deserve. Kristy Wong and Catherine Goos (Homely Creatures and Biz Design Queens) are a true power duo - mining professionals, entrepreneurs, business owners, mums and best friends. From interior design to business design, these women have it covered... and I was honoured to be able to write about them! https://issuu.com/brisbanene/docs/binder1_742a5e06b2a3fe/20

19.01.2022 Absolutely brilliant. Beautiful. Moving. Digital marketing... human marketing... in its finest form. https://twitter.com/MatthewBevan/status/1288952826706554881

19.01.2022 To all my friends, family and lovely clients who have reached out from the US, we're safe and well here. But the fires are far from controlled, and the worst may be yet to come, with so much life and land lost that it's impossible for me to even comprehend. What can you do to help? Plant a tree. Plant two. Throw away less. Reuse more. Buy local. ... Buy second-hand. Better yet, buy much less. Drive less, walk more. Get outside, and turn off the lights. Invest in solar. Do it now. Eat more fruits and veggies. Even better if you grow them. Compost food scraps. Recycle everything you can. Get a bike. Ride it. Vote. There are many, many great ways you can donate too. https://www.wwf.org.au/get-involved/bushfire-emergency https://www.redcross.org.au//disaster-relief-and-recovery- https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/about-us/fundraising

19.01.2022 Off to a client workshop this morning! Did you know, all my one-on-one workshops come with a Mini-SEO Report!

17.01.2022 {About Us/Our Story} If you struggle to write about yourself or your brand, youre not alone. Theres a few reasons its hard to do. One, its hard to see ourselves and our accomplishments clearly. Two, we have an inbuilt avoidance of bragging (even though thats EXACTLY what our About Us page should be doing!). And three, it still has to effectively say what we do and what our brand is about. But your About Us page is vitally important. Its how you tell your story to p...otential customers and clients. And they want to know your story. They want to know who you are and why you do what you do. Thats how you build engagement and loyalty. If youre struggling, reach out to your tribe. Find out how they see you and your brand and incorporate those ideas into your copy. Getting fresh perspective on yourself might be the push you need to create a stellar About Us page! We can do hard things... Alan Packer

16.01.2022 Instagram and Facebook won’t do your marketing for you (if only!).

15.01.2022 Every freelancer should get a dog. They keep your feet warm while you tap away on the computer, they remind you to get outside and they dont care if you stay in your PJs all day! Ps, this little sweetie is up for adoption! Shes just gorgeous and Id keep her myself if it werent for already living here!

15.01.2022 Finding the right clients can be a struggle for freelancers, but its worth it. Heres how to find clients you actually want to work with. Clients. We all want them. We all need them. But we dont always love them. Sometimes its the work itself, sometimes its a personality difference, sometimes its simply communication difficulties. But whatever the reason, when youre someone who works for a variety of clients, you often have a variety of experiences and not all of them will be good. 14.01.2022 Want to Be an Elf this year? There is a wonderful charity organisation in Beenleigh who collects wish letters from underprivileged children in our community and hands them out to their army of elves (people like you and me). We then go shopping for that particular child (or children) and deliver our gifts to their Beenleigh headquarters and they coordinate delivery to the children. My family and I are doing it this year, and if you’d like to be elf too, simply send your details through messenger here: https://m.me/beanelf01

14.01.2022 For the last nearly three years Ive been both a full time mum and a full time business owner. And that means that Ive been where many of you are now. I've had to figure a lot of this stuff out on the run. So, I've pulled together my top five tips for working from home with kids. https://kmlowrey.com/5-tips-for-working-from-home-with-kids/

14.01.2022 If you're navigating the sometimes clashing worlds of being a mum and being a business woman, you're certainly not alone. Mums in business are constantly trying to find a balance. Recently I had the immense pleasure of appearing as a guest on The Busy Mum Podcast, with Jackee De Campo. We had a lovely time chatting about all things copywriting, SEO, balance, business and babies! [ 85 more words ] https://kmlowrey.com//guest-appearance-on-the-busy-mum-po/

12.01.2022 Yesterday I got down to the Goldie to meet some of my all-time favourite clients! I’m a nupty and didn’t get a photo with either of them, but Gaynor and Eric (@summerpicnictables) are pretty rad. Did you know they created the original folding wine picnic table design right here in sunny QLD? And they have some incredibly exciting things coming soon! Check them out. They’re beautiful people with a beautiful product (my SPT table is one of the best things I ever bought). Then I... got to go to the fabulous launch of the Feminessence Magazine with the lovely @shar_ywoman! She’s changing the world and the conversation about women and I’m so privileged to work with her. @fidgetmedia did a beautiful job on the design, too. (I mean, it’s incredible. Talk about super star talented!) Of course karma demanded that I pay for my super good day and I’ve woken up sick. But actually a day to stay in my PJs and watch movies with the kids (also sick) is actually one of my favourite kinds of days. So I suppose win win!

10.01.2022 Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a long-term strategy that can have a tremendous effect on your online visibility and presence. Statistically, websites that appear on the first page of Google receive 91.5% of all clicks. And that isnt down to just luck. Its where a great SEO copywriter comes in. I perform in-depth research into your business, your target audience, your competitors (what works and what doesnt) and, of course, targeted keywords, in order to ensure that we... are using the right words in your content. This ensures Google is happy, but more importantly, that your content is high quality, value-adding and perfectly aligned to your brand tone of voice and brand messaging. Optimising your site doesnt mean losing authenticity. Image via the fantastic Lalo Hernandez.

10.01.2022 Lets talk about sexy SEO. I keep seeing ads from SEO agencies describing something (internal links, back links, what have you) as the unsexy part of SEO. No part of doing SEO is sexy. Its technical, fiddly, data driven and a bit of a slog if Im telling the truth. The only sexy part is getting amazing results. ... Thats why you get someone else to do it for you! Even better if its someone who loves their Aldi lounge set and analysing keyword reports. (Also ).

09.01.2022 People dont buy the products you create, they buy the stories you tell. This broom is my perfect example. I bought this broom not because I desperately needed one (I didnt), or because its the best broom on the market (though it might be), but because I was totally enamoured with its story. Handmade by the last original production millet broom factory operating in Australia, using the same techniques that have been in operation since it opened its doors in 1946. Did I ...buy the broom? Yep! But not because I wanted the broom, but because I wanted to be part of its story. #tumutbroomfactory #tumutbrooms #brandstorytelling #copywriter #writer #broom #storytelling

08.01.2022 no. more. jargon! if I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. don't use jargon in your writing. people want to hear YOU. YOUR words. not the buzzwords of monetised media or horrid corporate jargon ('value chain' anyone?).... ok, I admit. I'm guilty, too (particularly pivot - I've written that word way too many times outside of the basketball context for my liking). but, I always hate myself afterwards. leave the jargon to corporate spreadsheets where we can mock it at will. use real words in your content.

08.01.2022 Many small business owners wonder if SEO is really worth it. They worry about being able to compete with big companies with unlimited budgets. Think about it like a football game. Youre the smallest player on the field and youre running the ball up. Do you try to go straight through the biggest player on the other team? Or do you close in, side step like a pro, and show them a clean pair of heels? In the same vein, a local boutique who goes head-to-head with The Iconic is g...oing to lose. But a local boutique with a sound SEO strategy and some fancy footwork can still score a try. A lot of tries. Read more.

07.01.2022 Do you celebrate your wins and milestones in your work? Were conditioned to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and graduations in our personal lives, but not so much in our careers. These flowers are actually from my hubs for our ten year wedding anniversary (you can check out the gorgeous couple at @ascernia if you like ), but they got me thinking... why dont we celebrate our wins at business like we do in life? My business anniversaries just slip by, no one notices or ...mentions anything, and thats on me. I never say, Hey, I made it through the first (second, third, tenth!) year, and it was tough! I need to celebrate myself, before anyone else will. We should be shouting our wins from the rooftops! We should be sending our work tribe flowers and chocolates or even shoes (thanks SITC). We should be celebrating ourselves and each other all.the.time! What do you think? Do you celebrate your work anniversaries?

03.01.2022 Do I really need a copywriter? There are a lot of people (a lot!) who wonder why anyone would ever hire a copywriter. Writing is easy, isn't it? After all, you've been putting words together into sentences since you passed that first little note to Tim (or Tina) Olsen in second grade. And in many ways, you're right. Copywriting is simply putting words into sentences for your business or brand. It could be website pages or newsletters, blog posts or LinkedIn articles. That is ...copywriting. Right? In fact, great copy does more than just put words on paper (or on a screen). Great copy converts readers into customers. Read more here https://wp.me/p4cyVo-7x

02.01.2022 {SEO Tip} Do you use white space in website content? Its important for both design and the user experience. White space helps accommodate all screen sizes (desktop laptop tablet mobile), improves readability, creates a balanced look, brings attention to the most important elements in your copy and creates a cleaner look. All this means a better user experience and a better user experience drives organic traffic. A big win for something so simple!

02.01.2022 I've seen so many of my friends and acquaintances online asking about JobKeeper. One of my clients has put together these easy-to-use JobKeeper Guides.
