23.01.2022 Welcome home Coral Discoverer & guests! Our first voyage back has returned to Cairns after an amazing 7 nights exploring the outer Great Barrier Reef. Well done to the crew for a great first voyage back, and to all our guests for the high spirits and energy you brought to the expedition - it will definitely be one to remember! ... 23.01.2022 Reaching the inlet feels like you have stepped into the lost world. Rolling buttongrass moorland blankets bony quartzite ridges and the few rising peaks are crowned white, nestled with tall paperbark and Melealuca groves in their shielding folds. #Tasmania #DiscoverTasmania #SeeAustralia #HolidayHereThisYear

23.01.2022 "As for commentators who gleefully anticipate cruising's demise, they're simply ignorant of its many permutations. Mega-ships will certainly change, but I'm very confident that small, carefully run ships in the luxury and expedition categories have a viable future. More than ever, travellers will be looking for controlled environments, small-group experiences and less-crowded destinations. Meanwhile, remote communities will hope for some form of tourism that provides a source... of income but a light footprint. I know that whenever such cruises resume in Indonesia, I'll be first up the gangplank." Travel writer Brian Johnston wrote his thoughts on his Islands of Indonesia expedition just before COVID restrictions, and we couldn't have said it better ourselves! 20.01.2022 March is the start of the Kimberley cruising season which is when waterfalls are at their most magnificent after seasonal rains. The landscape is radiant with new growth and freshwater swimming holes are filled. Many waterfalls flow year-round but the best time to witness the Kimberley waterfall spectacle is generally March to June. Join us early in the year to take a shower under King Cascades, or marvel at the mammoth twin falls. 17.01.2022 My name is Hannah, and I am part of the Coral Expeditions Marketing Team. I was lucky enough to join the most recent Outerknown Great Barrier Reef trip. For me, Ribbon Reef #9 was a standout location! With our snorkels or dive gear on we excitedly jumped in the water, the visibility was incredible (roughly 20m)! It was some of the best coral we had seen on the whole trip, with the Ribbon Reefs allowing more delicate and brightly coloured coral to grow as they are more protec...ted from weather elements than some other locations. We spent the whole day here, with a drift snorkel in the afternoon that allowed us to see about 200m of the wall as we floated between mooring #1 and #2. 07.01.2022 We’re back! Coral Expeditions’ first cruise in six months was a great success. Coral Discoverer is the ship that proves you CAN cruise safely. The Cairns-based ...company devised a government-approved plan to get Australians cruising again. All passengers (48) and Aussie crew (24) were tested for COVID-19 before departure so we travelled in a bubble. Other changes were made such as no buffet, socially distanced snorkelling and no contact with outsiders unless it was a driver wearing a mask. Queenslanders enjoyed this week’s 7-night trip to the outer Great Barrier Reef. Hopefully people in other states will cruise safely again soon! Read my full story in The Weekend Australian on October 31.

06.01.2022 Darren Jew & Jasmine Carey share their top tips & tricks to underwater photography. Join them onboard on our 18th November departure for photography workshops & guidance.

05.01.2022 On Wednesday afternoon the shoreside team threw off the lines and Coral Discoverer eased away from the wharf and turned her bow towards the open sea for the first time since March! Guests made their way to the sundeck to get a view over the city and wave goodbye to those staying on the wharf. An emotional moment as we return to expedition Follow the voyage here> https://bit.ly/VoyageLogGBR

05.01.2022 A beautiful morning at Mackay Reef yesterday. We spent hours relaxing on this remote sand cay in the middle of the northern Great Barrier Reef. Snorkeling & glass bottom boat tours were amazing with coral cover nearing 95% for most of the bommies that we saw. Guests all mentioned how this was their second favourite spot after Ribbon Reef #9! #ExploreCairnsGBR #ExploreTNQ #CoralDiscoverer #GreatBarrierReef #Cairns #MackayReef #ThisIsQueensland #SeeAustralia
