25.01.2022 Since returning back from holiday Ive struggled to find motivation to get back in the gym and train hard (Who would of thought that!, a personal trainer struggling to find motivation...yes Im human!!!). I am lucky enough to work out of a great Crossfit gym (Crossfit Athletic city), in which I am able to jump in the classes and train with a fantastic group of people. For those of you that dont know much about crossfit, Ill explain. The exercises are done in group workouts,... in which others encourage you and help you push your boundaries (in a safe and effective way) unlike you see in your stock standard gym. Even the person who finishes last gets a round of high fives for pushing himself or herself as hard as they can. Its great working alongside people that share the same goal as you: to get in the best shape possible and to train like a true athlete. Everyone is on the same team working to the same goals with amazing coaches to help them get there. If group training doesnt take your fancy then you may want to look for motivation in buddy training. In fact, having the right workout buddy can often be the difference between failure and success plus will make your workout more enjoyable and hold you accountable to actually turn up for your session (which most of the time is the hardest part). If you are not keen on buddy training and do not like the idea of group sessions then maybe look to get a Personal Trainer www.coreperformance.com.au. 24.01.2022 My 10 top tips for for a healthy you: Eat clean unprocessed foods. Drink water - all day (filtered if possible).... Eat in a relaxed environment. Chew your food until it is liquid. Eat until satisfied, not full! End the fad diet mentality. Let it go. How do you deal with things in life when you lose motivation? Is it game over for you? Motivation is like any emotion it comes and goes, so if youre going to rely on motivation to get the job done, it will let you down. My mantra for the day;

14.01.2022 Nutrition tip of the day! DO NOT SKIP BREAKFAST! From dinner time to breakfast time your body has been through a fasting period. By breakfast time the body will be in need of fuel to help the metabolism fire up and kick in.... If you are one of those people that are waking up and saying, I'm just not hungry or whatever else, it's time to kick that habit and give your body the tools to turn itself into a fat burning energy efficient machine!

14.01.2022 Boom!!!! 4km run, followed by some plyometric work! After a week of sickness, followed by a 30 hour flight and a whole day of eating (out of the ordinary food...monster munch, dime bars, pub grub) the thought of exercise felt like an absolute MISSION!!!! It's times like this when you need to get rid of all that unnecessary chit chat in the head, have a plan, and as the Nike slogan says "just do it"!!!!

14.01.2022 Quit making excuses, putting it off, complaining about it, dreaming about, whining about it, believing you can't, worrying if you can!!! JUST DO IT!!! Sometimes It's all just part of a Monday morning! As a personal trainer, let me tell you, I don't naturally wake up and think "yep, I'm ready to workout, let's do this". I get days that challenge me, especially this morning after suffering 4 days of feeling sorry for myself having cold/flu BUT, today is the day to suck it up and instead of talking my way out of it, I talk myself into it! This morning was hard!!! But I was determined to start my Monday morning with purpose. So, next time you hear that little voice in your head, talking you out of exercising,....step back acknowledge your thoughts, then challenge them!

07.01.2022 Wakey Wakey glutes, rise and shine! My dynamic glute warm-up. You know that static stretching before workouts is passé, but doing dynamic movements to wake your muscles up is particularly important because the glutes are a sleepy muscle group. When you spend long hours sitting, suffer low back pain, or simply dont work your glutes sufficiently, they can become lazy and inhibited.... The first step to waking your glutes up is to do a warm-up using exercises that have high glute activitythat is, they require your butt to get to work. Exercises to try: Glute or hip raises in which you lie on your back with your knees bent and raise up into a bridge is a great glute activator. To increase difficulty, do single-leg glute bridges. Single leg Romanian deadlifts is another little favourite of mine, single leg step ups, and let's not forget the kettle bell swing...a great little wake up call for that big maximus muscle.
