25.01.2022 THIS STATEMENT BREAKS MY HEART AND IS ONE I HEAR TOO MANY FROM MY CLIENTS . When we become a mumma it is not uncommon to lose ourselves, our identify, who we are. . We become a mum. A job that is so full It leaves no time for the woman we once were.... . Our priorities shift, daily tasks change, we are completely knackered, are overwhelmed, angry, frustrated, and anxious. . Every day is the same and we don’t see any relief from this anytime soon. We long to be that woman we were before. We want a break, but then we feel guilty. . We get ourselves in this cycle of self-judgment and negativity and we forget what we enjoy. . So, here is little exercise to try to bring you back a little... . When the kids go to bed I want you to sit down somewhere quiet with some paper and a pencil, take a deep breath and start writing . I am so grateful forthen write all the little things and big things you are grateful for in your life . Then, write . On my ideal day I would wake up andand write all the things you would do all the way up until you go to bed. Be sure to include how you feel on this ideal day, as feelings and emotions are so much more powerful than things. . Then I want you to look back over what you have written and see all those things that make your life wonderful, hold them in your heart and smile to yourself. . Then I want you to pick out some things from your ideal day that you could start implementing right now. I bet you will be surprised at how much you can do to be more conscious of how you are spending your time and how to bring yourself more joy. . I would love to hear how you go See more
21.01.2022 Yesterday I was talking with the ladies in my @brave.agency.official business circle and we were all saying how it all seems to be about us at the moment...finally! . So many times in life we are busy busy. It sometimes seems to be a competition to be the busiest busy person that was ever busy! . We all spoke about how we have been feeling this new moon...tired and emotional were prevalent feelings.... . As a women’s circle we spoke about the feminine cycles along with the demands of motherhood, isolation, and expectations placed on ourselves... . And we pretty much concluded that we need to honour our feelings and energy levels, listen to our bodies and honour our downtime. . We decided that downtime was our superpower...as it is in our downtime that our creativity can flow. . When we stop doing all the things and we let our mind wander and be free. This is where the ideas and plans are made. This is where we rest and restore. This is where we remember what life is all about. . I encourage you to stop and breathe for a moment. Remember balance, ebb and flow. Remember...take care of yourself. . You are the most important person in your life See more
19.01.2022 I SEE YOU STRESSED OUT EXHAUSTED MUMMA! . This is your *gentle* slap in the face to say take a rest! I know it’s hard and there’s so much to do but, for your family and for you, create some space for yourself in your day or you will not only be doing yourself and your health a disservice, but you will be doing a your kids a disservice because you are one stressed out anxious, wired up mumma! . Stress is the key to many hormone imbalances and hormonal imbalan...ces are the cause of a whole heap of symptoms from troublesome weight around the hips and tummy, random dark man-hairs on your face popping up, acne, fertility problems, PMS, endometriosis, fatigue, anxiety, depression, moodiness, irritability...I could go on and on! . It's science! Your master hormone, pregnenolone, can be used in a couple of different pathways. . The stress pathway, where it makes cortisol, and the sex hormone pathway where it makes DHEA and your sex hormones, including testosterone and oestrogen. . When we are stressed, the focus isn’t on creating our sex hormones, and the cortisol pathway is what dominates. . So sit down and think of ways that help you manage your stress best. . Run that magnesium bath, practice some breath-work in and out of your heart whilst remembering all the things you are grateful for and truly feeling that gratefulness in your heart-space, get that massage, do some yin yoga, take that nap, say no to that meet up, ask for some help. . Put time and effort into you to help calm your anxiety and stress, so your children get the best you. Give yourself permission for down time, invest in your health, invest in you. Your car needs maintenance, you need maintenance too, don’t run yourself into the ground. . If you need guidance please reach out and book a free chat with me, I am here to help you.
19.01.2022 Yes for sure this can be hard at times but nothing and nobody but YOU can MAKE YOU feel or do anything . Sometimes we need help with this and that’s ok. It’s about building our resilience and ability to prepare for, recover from, and adapt in the face of stress, adversity and challenge. . This in turn has a direct impact on your energy reserves, and gives you the ability to maintain composure and stay in charge of your emotions and reactions (self-regulation). ... . How do we build this? . Through coherence. Studies have found that our heart rate variability, our heart rate change affected by certain emotions, becomes irregular in stressful situations (incoherent). The analogy here is driving with you foot on the gas and the brake at the same time. It wears the car out and uses a lot of fuel in the process! . But when we are coherent, which can be enhanced by practicing heart-brain connection and breathwork, we become more resilient, which adds energy to our battery, and improves neural signals from the heart to the brain, improving brain centres involved with decision making, creativity, and how we perform. . Learn more by heading to the HeartMath Institute. Their HeartMath Experience is FREE at present and teaches some great techniques to add into your day that take just a few minutes . 17.01.2022 Calcium Shell, nope we aren’t switching gears totally and going back to my Marine Biology roots to learn all about shellfish! . Following on from the Copper Toxicity Series of the last fortnight, I thought a good progression is a series about Calcium Shell. . Why?... . Because of copper’s effect on sodium and potassium, the body’s primary solvents. A progression of copper build-up in the body, can lead to this condition, where calcium is pushed into the body’s soft tissue. . You can imagine this is not good seen as we want 99% of our calcium in our teeth and bones if we want them to be strong! . The calcium then sort of floats around body in precipitates and builds up in areas of the body forming a kind of shell around the cells. . This ‘protective shell’ if you will, can cause a person to experience emotional numbness and spaciness among many other symptoms, which I will go into in my next post! . Copper Toxicity is not the only cause of Calcium Shell so be sure to stay tuned for the other causes. See more
15.01.2022 HEY THERE! I AM CARLAand I am coining the name Mineral Mumma given I am the mumma of almost 2 year old identical twin boys, and I help my clients balance their minerals and restore themselves from within. . Why minerals? Well minerals are described as the spark plugs of the body, and if you are a fellow mumma you will no doubt know what I mean when you feel like your spark plugs are no longer sparking! . This was definitely me and being th...e Functional Practitioner, Energy Healer and researcher that I am, I found ways to heal my knackered, worn out, overly erratic, emotional self by mixing science and spirituality. . It’s now my mission to help my mumma sisters become empowered with the knowledge of their inner energetics and biochemistry so that they can embody their self-worth and live in true alignment, becoming that role model mumma and woman they desire to be. . I have always been someone that puts huge pressure on myself to succeed and when I became a mumma, I also became a real martyr, trying to be and do everything for my babies whilst also being a wife, and building my business among everything else. . I had added more to my list of 'all the things' I wanted to do and be and was crumbling under the weight. I was spreading myself too thin to be satisfied in any area, which lead me to burnout and breakdown. . I have been rebuilding myself with much stronger foundations to live with more balance, light and peace, restoring my vitality, my adrenal, thyroid, and immune health, and working on releasing my emotional nervous system blocks. . I have been described as a pollinator, sharing my knowledge and planting seeds in others helping them to grow and bloom into the radiant woman they are at their core. . If you have any questions please reach out, I am here to help you, and want to serve you as best as I can See more
15.01.2022 Hahah the cards amaze me. Two decks, same card pulled. I hear you Universe. Thank you! . Do you have health boundaries in place or do you often say yes when you mean no? . This can lead to resentment. Honour yourself. Honour your time
12.01.2022 WHERE FOR ART THOU MR LIBIDO!? . Ok sure, you just birthed a baby with a village looking at your hoo-haa, you're not sleeping much, and your nipples are on fire - of course you aren't gonna feel like getting jiggy straight away, but what about several months later when all is healed, you are sleeping better, and are more in control? Why is your libido still AWOL? . Well, hormone imbalance is likely part of the answer... . After baby is born, our oestrogen and progesterone take a nosedive, like to menopausal levels, which can be a contributing factor to many things including low libido and postpartum depression. . Hopefully, this rectifies itself within 6 to 12 weeks, but it can last over 4 years!* . However, our hormones may stay low because our stress levels have increased somewhat. . Stress sort of shuts off the production of our sex hormones causing them to remain low... . ...and if our oestrogen is low we can also suffer vaginal dryness leading to pain during intercourse, which of course ain't gonna make you want to do it either! . So mumma, this is where you need help managing the extra stress you are under. Get support, ask for help, stop being that martyr trying to do everything yourself, take the pressure off and share the load. Get in touch with your fellow mummas, attend a circle and share your feelings with women that understand. . * If you have experienced depression for over 2 weeks since having your baby then please seek some help. Especially if you also experience more crying than usual, have feelings of anger, you are withdrawing from loved ones, you are feeling numb or disconnected, you worry you will hurt your baby, or you are feeling guilty about not having the ability to care for your baby. Please don’t think you are alone, there is help out there so please reach out if this is you. See more
12.01.2022 This is a good question and one I have had to remind myself of daily during the last couple of weeks with all the stress of selling a property, finding a rental property, clearing out the clutter and selling stuff we no longer want, and ultimately packing "all the stuff!" in our home. . My gosh...so much stuff! Where does it all come from!? . It's a grueling task, especially with life as "normal" with my business and two little 20 month beings on board. It would be very easy ...to forget myself. . The hours fly by and I haven't stopped yet there's still so much to do! However, I have asked myself this question each day to make sure I am still adding to my cup so I don't burn myself out, which I am pretty adept at doing! . As I know I am not the only one struggling with time management at the moment, I wanted you to ask yourself this question to make sure you aren't forgetting yourself. . Some of my little pleasures include my morning walk to the park, heading to the beach for a coffee and chill, washing my hair and doing a mini facial, meditation and some yoga, and a cuppa day out in the sun . I would love to hear the little things you do to ensure you include some pleasure in your day in the comments below See more
10.01.2022 This is a great image depicting what’s happening to my shoulder and neck muscles at the moment with all the stress of moving house! . This is also what I feel in my clients and will use techniques like trigger point therapy and myofascial release to help restore the healthy functioning of their muscles. . When was the last time you booked a therapeutic remedial massage?... . I have a lovely new clinic and would love to treat you . (Sorry I just found this saved on my phone so can’t give credit for the image ) See more

09.01.2022 As a crab can shed its shell, you can break down your Calcium Shell! . In fact, doing just a little work to break down your calcium can get you feeling dramatically better . It is important to work with a practitioner that will help you go slow and steady when your body is ready. It is important that you are able to manage stress and past trauma as Calcium Shell detox can leave you feeling emotional and you may re-experience past trauma as the shell broken down.... . You can even sometimes feel the calcium moving from the joints and soft tissues as it moves back into bone, so can experience more joint, and muscle pain (calcium is a sharp mineral and it’s moving so you may feel it!). . Other Calcium Shell detox symptoms include migraines, increased awareness, and improved mood. . You will likely need vitamin K2 in the MK-7 form, which helps to direct calcium back into the bone . Vitamin A and iodine (care must be taken and you must seek practitioner help when using iodine) as these help break down calcium . And you may need extra thyroid support . Of course if Copper Toxicity is associated then this also need to be addressed. . Because Calcium Shell is often associated with emotional trauma release, therapies like EMDR, talk therapy, acupuncture, and EFT may be required as part of your healing. . My Functional Health Coaching includes life coaching, NLP, and EFT services within my packages along with latest in Functional Lab Testing. . 07.01.2022 When my boys were about 8 months old, I was struggling to maintain enough breast milk and I was struggling mentally and physically. . I could see from my blood tests that my kidneys were beginning to slow down and so I knew it was time to do some further testing and see where my body was at. . Because of the extensive data I gather from hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA) this was what I chose, and I quickly learnt that my mineral were incr...edibly depleted, I had moderate hypothyroid, sluggish adrenals, my vitality was extremely low, and I had several heavy metal toxicities. . There is a term called 4LOWS in HTMA that is when all 4 macrominerals (calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium) are depleted. . Symptoms of the 4LOWS pattern include extreme fatigue, allergies (due to impaired immune system function), chronic infection (gut, cellular, blood), anxiety, irritability, frustration, insomnia, muscle tightness or muscle cramps, impaired digestion and food intolerance (especially gluten), and you feel like you are trying everything, doing all the right things, but nothing is working. i.e. I was eating well and doing all things I knew would help, but I was still struggling. . I was relieved to know there was an explanation for why I was feeling the way I was and now I could begin a targeted protocol to rebuild my reserves and balance myself out again. I knew which foods I needed to focus on, and which supplements I needed. I knew how to support my digestion to get the most from the foods I was eating, how to support my detox pathways, and I knew what changes I needed to make in my lifestyle choices to allow me to rebuild my health. . I am so thankful for HTMA, how it has allowed me to heal and how it allows me to guide my clients back to health. . Please reach out if you have any questions, I am here to help you See more
06.01.2022 If you have been following my previous posts you will likely be asking this question! . Unfortunately this is not likely a condition your GP may recognise and so it is important to work with a Functional Health Practitioner trained in preventative, holistic, alternative (or what I like to call ‘original’) health care, that focuses on finding the root cause of dysfunctions using patient symptoms and functional lab testing as a guide. . A full health inventory should be tak...en to assess symptoms and, when considering Calcium Shell, because calcium can build up in different areas of the body, one often being the hair, a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis, HTMA, can help us determine if you have this condition. . Because of the link with thyroid health it’s often a good idea to also run a full thyroid panel including total T3 and rT3. . In fact when we see discrepancies with testing, for example the results of the HTMA show Hypothyroid whereas the blood test results show Hyperthyroid, this shows there is decreased cellular permeability (things moving in and out of the cell), which can be due to calcium shell, low sodium and low potassium. . If you are interested in HTMA testing or a thyroid panel, and you would like to work with me, then please send me a message or check out more about me on my website corehealthclinic.com.au (link in bio) See more
04.01.2022 A reminder for me and for you
04.01.2022 So, having said 'Yes' to the symptoms relating to Calcium Shell in my previous post, you are likely asking the question, 'What causes Calcium Shell?' . We mentioned right at the start the link to Copper Toxicity and how copper’s affect on sodium and potassium can lead to calcium precipitating and being pushed into the soft tissues of the body. . But that's not the only cause.... . In fact, calcium needs the proper cofactors to direct it and keep it in the bones and teeth. . Imbalances of minerals can mean calcium builds-up, which is very common with people that have a very slow oxidation rate. . Remember over 80% of people are slow oxidisers nowadays, so this is a prevalent issue. . Calcium Shell can also occur due to an emotional trauma or chronic stress as the body uses calcium to protect the cell from a stress response. This is why we can often feel emotionally dead inside when we have Calcium Shell. . Iodine deficiency is another cause of Calcium Shell as this makes it hard to hold on to potassium causing calcium to build up in tissues. . Iodine also decalcifies hence if low, we generally have high calcium. This means Calcium Shell is also often associated with Hypothyroid or Hashimoto’s. . Excessive calcium supplementation is another cause (especially when there isn’t adequate magnesium, sodium and boron to use it properly), . Hard drinking water (limestone, calcium containing stone area where water supply comes from) is another. . Be sure to stay tuned to the rest of the series to find out more! Next post is all about how do determine if you have Calcium Shell. . For more info on iodine deficiency be sure to check a previous post with kelp as the picture. See more
02.01.2022 EAT THE FATS! . Did you know that our diet massively impacts the production of our hormones, especially if you are eating a low-fat diet, which many mummas do when they try to shed the baby weight. Please don't do this! . Why? Because cholesterol is an important cofactor necessary for our hormone production. Without it, our hormones can’t be made.... . Also, sorry to say, but if you are consuming gluten, sugar, soy, dairy, alcohol, and processed foods frequently, these foods may add to the stress placed on your body which impacts your HPA axis; a feedback system that regulates the physiological mechanisms of stress reactions, immunity, and fertility. . This can lead to us experiencing gut problems like constipation, diarrhea, bloating and pain due to possible microfloral imbalances, leaky gut, and low stomach acid amongst other things. . Without getting into too much detail, this can directly impact the level of digestion and nutrient absorption that takes place. . So, if gut health is off you may struggle to absorb the nutrients from even the good food you are consuming, which can lead to deficiencies and hormonal imbalances. . Plus feeling bloated and having a painful tummy doesn't make us feel too energised and super-mum-like! . So, what to do: . - Eats good fats with each meal (nuts and seeds, avocado, oily fish, grass-fed butter, coconut oil) . - Reduce or omit gluten, sugar, soy, dairy, alcohol, and processed foods . - Support digestion and gut health with apple cider vinegar (diluted), digestive bitters, probiotics, prebiotic fibres (onion, lentils, leek, cooked and cooled potatoes, green banana), mucosal barrier support (slippery elm, marshmallow root, aloe vera etc) - Keep hydrated (purified, not tap water here is a must!) 01.01.2022 In my last post we learnt that when minerals like sodium and potassium are imbalanced, maybe from copper toxicity or for other reasons, a condition known as Calcium Shell can occur. . This is when calcium builds up in the soft tissues of the body, forming a kind of shell around the cells in places like your muscles, brain, joints, and arteries. .. Often symptoms of Calcium Shell can overlap with other conditions including the symptoms of:... . Slow Oxidation (fatigue, sugar cravings, low blood sugar, constipation, weight in hips and thighs insomnia, postural hypotension, poor ability to sweat, low blood pressure) . Copper Toxicity (mood swings, PMS, racing thoughts, panic attacks, depression, feelings of despair, eating disorders, brain fog, frontal headaches/migraines, heart palpitations, social withdrawal, problems concentrating, problems with memory, infertility, miscarriages, endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, oestrogen imbalances, low libido, and candida) , and . Hypothyroid (weight gain, cold hands and feet, lack of sweating, fatigue, dry skin and hair, constipation). . Other symptoms include: Joint and muscle pain, cramps, spasms, and or twitches Arthritis, osteoporosis, bone spurs Premature greying of your hair Arteriosclerosis Kidney stones Low vitamin D Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Impaired circulation or reduced spine movement Poor dental health and tooth decay (Ca pulled out of teeth into tissues) Tinnitus Sensitivity to EMFs (calcium is very conductive) Apathy, brain fog Feeling of being disconnected, apathetic Emotional numbness, psychological withdrawal Feeling out of touch with reality, depression, brain fog You may also experience anxiety, irritability, emotional outbursts Anger, and a racing mind if copper toxicity is driving the pattern .
