22.01.2022 YOH Fest is WA's largest health themed youth performing and visual arts event that gives school students throughout WA, the opportunity to take part in an innovative and revolutionary approach to health education. This annual festival requires school students to get together to construct and perform their own dance sequence, drama plays, original song, short film or art piece based on a relevant youth health theme. Mr van der Tang explains Cornerstone's entry: 'The drama is ...entitled 'Not What We'd Planned'. It is an attempt to tell the story of the Production Option class. Our main objective for semester one was to enter the Bunbury Eisteddfod. Covid intervened and things ground to a halt. Yohfest provided us with a new focus when they reconfigured the competition to allow for an online drama comp. The theme was isolation. As a class, we work-shopped a piece which explores the emotional textures of the ups and downs of 2020.' https://youtu.be/cXkx3ieLR38 Enjoy!

22.01.2022 The Year 5 and Year 6 students have taken part in their annual leadership development day. This is an important day on the primary calendar, and sets up students with an appreciation for the responsibility they hold as the senior members of the primary community, and provides tools to assist them in developing this facet of their education. According to Mr Meyerink, they had a ball! We can't wait to hear about what unfolded.

20.01.2022 A note from our Chaplain (and introducing our smallest staff member, Billie!)

19.01.2022 Next week, those Secondary students who will not be attending the Cadets Tribal Camp, will be taking part in our 'Conference of Care'. An opportunity for students to understand the support the care networks within our community. Our Mainly Music group for next week got a head start today with a meeting with Em Seinemeier and Tania George. The student team will be helping with the wrap up party/event for Mainly Music as a way of getting an inside perspective on this service organisation. Great work all!

17.01.2022 Open Night 2020!

16.01.2022 Would you like your children to have access to equipment during break times, such as table tennis or spike ball sets? If so , then helping out with the Curry meal at the Open Night will help make that happen. Mrs Blennerhassett is desperately looking for volunteers, who can cook a curry, loan a rice cooker, and/or serve on the night. Can you help her? It's a brilliant night, serving alongside an amazing lady, in the midst of our wonderful community, and your kids benefit fr...om the funds raised. If you can assist, please email [email protected], or leave a message for her at the front office (9754 1144). Any assistance is appreciated.

16.01.2022 As we near the end of Book Week, it's time to celebrate with our annual Book Character Parade. As always, a huge effort was made by students and parents to bring the books to life on the College corridors. Well done everyone. You've outdone yourselves.

14.01.2022 Service Camp - Day 2 and 3. Gardening, demolition, cleaning, painting, organising, vacuuming, scrubbing and cooking. The students are exhausted but have worked incredibly hard and Mrs Langenhoven and Mr Arthur are so proud! The Year 10s have outdone themselves. There was still been plenty of time for swimming, sport, games and eating!... Thank you parents for entrusting your teenagers to us. They have blessed their community this week and represented themselves and the College in such a positive way.

14.01.2022 It's not every day that you get to sit in the cockpit of a plane, watch an aerial show put on just for you, get a guided tour of the airport, and have a jet flyby occur whilst you are on the tarmac watching passenger aircraft land and take-off - but our Kindy kids did! Last week, one of our student's dads arranged for the class to get a VIP experience at the regional airport. As a pilot himself, he not only gave the children an extremely rare experience, but he put on a pers...onal aerial display as the children watched on. For young Jordan, having his dad provide such a special day was particularly wonderful. The connection to Cornerstone was all the greater, as our groundsman, Mr Jordaan was also a key part of the day, as he is also a pilot and on hand to help where he could. Thank you Mr Avery, Mr Jordaan, parents and staff who allowed the chidlren to have this very special opportunity. One to remember for a long time to come. See more

12.01.2022 Mrs Wright has just provided this report. 'The year 7’s students finished off the term with a History Banquet. Students had to bring in food for their culture and be dressed appropriately for the event and their status in society. They also brought in their finished assessments which were varied and well presented. I would like to thank the parents for the amazing food provided - it really helped set the scene for a fantastic Ancient History Banquet!'... Well done Mrs Wright and students. A fabulous way to finish the term.

12.01.2022 It's Welcome Day at Cornerstone Busselton! To our delight, students who will be commencing at Cornerstone in 2021 have joined current students for a day of transition into their classes for next year. Of particular note are the students who will be commencing High-school next year. Mrs Langenhoven has made her way around to the various options the students are getting a taste of today. From cooking to woodwork - there's a little bit of everything happening. Welcome to all our new students. We are so glad you are here.

12.01.2022 We are getting excited now. Our team of state finalists in the Your Say Your Call competition are about to find out how they have performed in 2020. We have two wonderful parents on hand, acting as roving reporters (thanks Mrs Adams and Mrs Jarman). So, here’s our team. Whatever happens from here, to have 4 of the top 10 coming from Cornerstone makes them all winners. Well done all!

11.01.2022 Year 7 Design is showing some fantastic results - and Mr Tink has these two examples to show us of student work utilising Adobe Illustrated. Here's his explanation. 'The students were asked to choose a landscape from a supplied group and replicate the scene using the pen tool, multiple layers and gradients. Charlotte Blennerhassett replicated a landscape scene from Slovenia. Charlotte worked quite independently on this task but was open to suggestions and advice in refining ...her work. The original image can be found at https://pixabay.com//bled-slovenia-lake-island-sunrise-26/' 'The students were asked to shoot photographs and design an advertisement promoting one of several fictious companies. Abi Reid developed this advert combining photographs she took at home with a logo and graphics she developed in class. Abi demonstrated patience and a willingness to consider the advice of her teacher.' Sensational work ladies.

11.01.2022 Year 10 Service Camp is now over for 2021, but not without lots of fun memories. On top of the service tasks they completed for community organisations, the students were also divided into groups who were responsible for elements of the running of the camp. One team was the Communications and Photography team. We will be seeing the fruits of their labour in coming days, but for now, here's Glyn Atkinson's capture of some of what happened in their 'down time'. Thanks Dr Riches for bringing your boat along to bless our hard working kids!

10.01.2022 Today we had the chance to honour the matriarchs and patriarchs of our Year 2 students in Busselton. Grandparents of children in Miss H's class came onto the College grounds and had the chance to mix with their grandchildren, play games, share fun facts about their own upbringing, before having a delightful morning tea together. Thanks to the parents who helped provide such a wonderful spread of food, to Miss H and students for hosting these important guests, and to all the grandparents who were able to join us for the morning. We are glad you came.

10.01.2022 The Year 7s have completed their Ancient History research and are now planning, building and creating costumes and props for their Ancient History banquet. Next Thursday the Year 7 room will be transformed when they celebrate in ancient style and with relevant food. Students will stay in character as we see Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Chinese and other cultures meet together. Should be a whole lot of fun! Keep an eye our for photographic evidence.

10.01.2022 Earlier this year, a competition was run by Murdoch University, which asked students to create artwork about elements of the periodic table. Mr Cleaver finally has some news! 'The Year 7 and 8 students created a piece of artwork about an element - for the Year 7s it was gallium and for the Year 8s it was mercury. The attached flyer was received today explaining the presentation night is 17 December. Helena Roth (Yr 8) has her entry on the cover, which is pretty cool. Our win...ners will receive their certificates and prizes at Murdoch University at the presentation night, as well as having any winning entries expanded to A1 or A0 size for display purposes.' Well done students! Another fabulous result for your hard work.

09.01.2022 Such amazing young talent in WA! Together with Western Australia Police Force, we challenged secondary students to have their say on 'street safety' using cr...eativity and filmmaking. They certainly delivered! The winners came from Cornerstone Christian College, Busselton Senior High School, Ellenbrook Christian College and Eastern Hills Senior High School. See the results and watch the winning films https://bit.ly/3eViHAX This competition was supported by Commissioner for Children and Young People WA and WALDEF.

08.01.2022 Last Friday the annual Primary Sports carnival unfolded on the College oval at our Busselton Campus, and it was a wonderful celebration of our community. With house colours flying proudly, students from both Busselton and Dunsborough challenged each other in a range of events with a sea of parents and grandparents cheering them on. Mr Meyerink puts in so much work to see these events come to pass, and we are so grateful for him and his team of helpers for their amazing efforts. Thank you! Thank you to the students for their sportsmanship, athletic endeavours and team spirit. Well done to those who shone on the day - we celebrate your God given gifts. Special thanks to Mrs Blennerhassett, who is not only a wonderful chaplain, but a great photographer - some gorgeous snapshots are here for you to recall the day. Well done everyone!

08.01.2022 Year 7 art students have been undertaking portrait drawing from supplied images. The quality of the work has been wonderful, and their art teacher has been delighted at the skills displayed. Well done to everyone involved.

07.01.2022 The 400m races for the Year 3-6 students are happening right now. There's lots of cheering and celebration of one another as our budding athletes take on the event. Lots to anticipate about Friday's Primary Athletics Carnival. It's going to be wonderful!

07.01.2022 It's not too late to join us. Please follow the link to secure your ticket.

05.01.2022 Two days until the Primary Athletics Carnival.....which means that today it is the lead in events of Jumps and Throws. The oval has student year groups rotating through javelin, shot-put and long jump today, with the Year 6 house captains playing an important role of leading the day We are grateful for Mr Meyerink and the team of parents on hand, who are helping support the endeavours of our Year 6 students. Parents are welcome to drop by and see their children - just pop past the office to sign in. (On Friday, just head straight to the oval for the carnival experience of our Primary Athletics day.) Great work everyone! You are going to have a wonderful day!

05.01.2022 Last night we had the privilege of sharing a simple meal with many of our new families who have children commencing in 2021 at the College (from Pre-Primary to Year 12). We are so grateful for the chance to meet informally with these wonderful families, and were delighted to hear story after story about how well their children are settling in and loving school. That's always so heartwarming to hear. We are also grateful to Tamarin, Harry and Callum (Year 11)for firing up the BBQ and helping serve our new community members.
