25.01.2022 Contact us to book these services - directly or via our website www.corsairboats.com.au Winter is the best time for annual maintenance so book space in our yard and with our team of skilled tradesmen today.

23.01.2022 We posted some 'worm riddled keel' photos a while ago so here is an update - * Stripping the paint etc off the original keel so we can use it as a template to make the new one (minus the worm holes of course!!!) * Couta boat with her keel section removed. * View from underneath (looks like some kind of weird rib cage!!!) but beautifully symmetrical. Happy days from the Corsair Boats crew

23.01.2022 Great video showcasing our signature vessel. Handcrafted by skilled tradesman. Contact Corsair Boats to discuss construction of your own bespoke vessel.

22.01.2022 Another recently completed project - JESSIE as an apprentice, Jessie was the first couta boat I was involved in the construction of back in 1986. Recently she has come back to the yard for a full keel replacement due to marine borer infestation. Akin to a heart/lung transplant, this has been a major undertaking, testing all of our skills as Traditional Shipwrights. The whole interior of the boat was removed including engine, centre case and cockpit floor to enable us to spread the entire boat apart to install the new keel. Whilst it was an extremely challenging job, all went smoothly and the boat is now back together as good as new. Note to all couta boat owners, ensure that your centre case is properly maintained on an annual basis!

22.01.2022 What a wonderful few months we have had completing maintenance work and re-launching a number of Couta Boats. We also completed some timber work to a keel for a few days this week at the brand new Boatyard Martha Cove. What a fantastic facility and we look forward to expanding our working relationship to a higher level in the future. Well done to Paul Vernon and his staff. 22.01.2022 We have come across an opportunity to restore a classic wooden boat. Below is the description and photos from when the boat was last for sale in 2012. Obviously it is not in as good condition now, but would be a fantastic project. It would be sad to see such a beautiful timber boat fall into further disrepair. We are seeking a customer who wants to take on this challenge and work with us to bring this beautiful piece of history back to its former glory. Disregard the price...Continue reading

16.01.2022 Congratulations to Lox and Ken Vaughan and crew on winning the 2020 Portsea Cup, the most prestigious race of the Couta Boat calendar in 'Sorrento II'. Designed and built by Corsair Boats in 2011. This win highlights the pedigree of the boats we build. 13.01.2022 Corsair Boats has been busy with business 'as usual'. Today we launched a Back Cove 29 which the crew have been working on recently. Works included a full topside re-spray, fibreglass hull repairs, new propeller, shaft and re-alignment of the engine (due to damage sustained when it hit a reef) a motor service, antifoul and propspeed. A huge shout out for a great job by our foreman/shipwright Samuel Martin for the re-spray. It is so shiny you can even see the work ute reflected in the sunshine!

12.01.2022 Couta Boats lined up in the yard, all packed up for the next few months before their turn in the shed then out on the bay to sail away!

11.01.2022 Now who doesn't like a worm or two in the garden?!?!? However, we do NOT like them in boats - check out this timber that came out of a keel last week. Isn't it amazing that some of the timber looks quite ok from the outside but on the inside it's absolutely riddled with worm and has been totally destroyed! Give us a call for professional maintenance and restoration of your boat. Mark and the crew at Corsair Boats #corsairboats #worminkeel #marineborer #morningtonpeninsulacoutaboats

11.01.2022 Another of our recently completed projects - AMALFI is a small traditionally built Port Phillip Bay fishing boat, on which we have undertaken a complete restoration. Works include re-ribbing, new deck, cabin, cockpit sole, diesel engine re-build and electrics. New life has been breathed into this classic old timber boat and she is now as good as new. This style of boat is ideal for messing around in close to shore, cruise down to the quarantine station and anchor up on a nice day, catch a feed on the way home.

10.01.2022 Not quite how we do it!!!

08.01.2022 So, she isn't a couta boat but at Corsair Boats we aren't too fussy what type of boat we work on. This is one of our crew's 'favourite old girls'. She is all glossy, shiny, ship-shape and going back to her mooring for another year of enjoyment by her owners.

06.01.2022 'Amalfi' has been out of the water for years, as tends to happen to some wooden boats. She has undergone a full restoration by our staff. Over the months we have learned to appreciate her classic looks, her lines, her 'chunkiness' and her desire to be a big boat! She performed beautifully and cut through the water with ease taking our staff on a cruise around the Sorrento and Portsea areas of our spectacular Port Phillip Bay. Another great restoration completed by the skilled and talented staff at Corsair Boats - well done Sam, Dom and Jack.

04.01.2022 Check out our Brand New website - launched today. We'd love to hear your thoughts on it. Mark & Crew www.corsairboats.com.au #CorsairBoats #Woodenboatbuilder #MorningtonPeninsula

02.01.2022 A traditionally taught timber shipwright using traditional tools - a hard to find 'gem' these days. #MarkAbbott #CorsairBoats the place to come to for quality and professionalism - backed by wealth of knowledge and experience.
