25.01.2022 Some of this years garlic harvest. So good

25.01.2022 Been snowing in Oldina last night. Photos may follow.

24.01.2022 Spring has finally come to the farm. The native trees and shrubs are flowering as well as all of the colourful deciduous trees. Daffodils just finished and the tulips have begun flowering. Tulip Festival in full swing tomorrow. I am reading some bush poetry at the Bush Poets breakfast. The chickens all have bright red combs and are laying delicious farm fresh pasture eggs - so very yellow its difficult to scrape the yoke off the plate! Little wrens and birds of all description are making their nests. Soon the tiny young will make their presence felt. Love the bird life here, it is so varied and abundant, more so since we have planted some native bush plants and denser plantings. Oh, the sun is out now and the viridian green pasture is luminescent. Come for a visit.

24.01.2022 Corymbia Farm stay, green fields, native forest, tree ferns over ones head, running streams, permanent springs- what isnt there to like.

23.01.2022 Here is a URL (https://youtu.be/3d9064Io87w)showing our farm, Corymbia Farm, filmed by some talented guests, Sylvia, and Konrad some few years ago. It has progressed much more now, particularly the tree plantings in our shelterbelts and the riparian zones. We hope you enjoy it.

17.01.2022 Its been a warmer and slightly drier beginning to winter this year, not complaining as the cycle of warmer days and a good dousing of rain has led to lush pastures for our 33 cows and twelve sheep. We have three only of our cows in calf now after doing AI in January. It will be a new experience for me, and for two of the cows, to be part of their calving. Fingers crossed it all goes well. Presently, autumn leaves dapple the verdant green lawn in many shades of gold and russet. I can see the daffodil spikes and iris bulbs pushing up. The Chrysanthemums are just finishing. Seems there is always something flowering in every season. Tasmania has all four of the traditional European seasons in full. As a West Australian, it takes a bit to get used to them as our western seasons are more in line with the Aboriginal calendar.

17.01.2022 This is our spring-fed water source on our property. Full of trout and eels and native bird life. You can now own this patch of paradise. https://www.realestate.com.au/property-mixed+farming-tas-ol

16.01.2022 Corymbia farm is going onto the market, sadly for us. See Realestate . com https://www.google.com.au/url for more details after the 16th of September. We have really loved being there but "time and tide wait for no one" and a less vigorous occupation waits us. The farm is in great shape for the next lucky person to enjoy.

13.01.2022 Its been a busy time hunkering down for a true winter. I help shift 12 cubic metres of wood yesterday with the help of three others. must post a photo of our wood pile, never thought wood could be so attractive in this packed and sorted state. Will keep us cozy to a few winters to come.

12.01.2022 So much grass! Freckle drowning in it.

11.01.2022 Been a hectic year last year, hence the lack of posts. However, I have some beautiful photos to add once I buy a new cable. Dont hold your breath as I am very poor at tech and it takes me ages. The farm is looking brilliant! All the grass has held some green over the summer and now the 70mls of rain has really had a wonderful effect on the pasture, and the weeds of course. The animals, as you shall see are very plump and healthy. Also so quiet and friendly.

10.01.2022 Keeping busy with shearing the sheep, mowing the grass, which is springing out of the rich volcanic soil faster than I can mow. The garden is looking like a painters palette, rich in colour. So much is in bloom. The birds are busy making nests, raising their young. I counted twenty different species in my garden and fields today. The cattle have a deep bloom on their coats and seems very contented watching me as I weed the garden. The lambs are gamboling across the verdant grass and play fighting. Love watching my animals. So happy and well looked after. Make me proud. Got them all back from the brink of starvation, except for those born here and here had a head start.
