25.01.2022 Children enjoyed playing aboriginal musical instruments to celebrate and commemorate NAIDOC WEEK

23.01.2022 Lions moved on to the next planet being Earth. Lions learnt that Earth is the only planet suitable for people and animals to live on. Children acknowledged that Earth is green and blue. Charlie mentioned that the blue section was water and the green section was grass. Lions discussed ways and reasons to protect and preserve Earth. Following on, They painted their paper mache ball blue and decorated it with green felt.

22.01.2022 Lions extended on their learning of the sun by watching a short educational video illustrating how the planets revolve around the sun. Children also had the opportunity to sing and dance to the sun song.

15.01.2022 Easter 2018. Through this experience children built on their cutting skills as they cut the template of their Easter hat out. They also used their fine motor skills and creativity to design and decorate their hats through collaging, drawing and colouring.

13.01.2022 To celebrate Harmony Day, children discussed their country of origin and familiarised themselves with the country flag whilst discussing the colours and patterns within the flag.

12.01.2022 A little throw back to Valentines Day

12.01.2022 Children collected leaves, sticks and flower buds from the outdoor area. They then used this opportunity to discuss the season of Autumn. Children mentioned that the colours of Autumn are green, yellow, orange and brown. Lions and Monkeys then completed their Autumn painting using these colours and collaged their sticks, flower buds and leave on to their paintings.

11.01.2022 Easter activity using loose natural materials

10.01.2022 Lions initiated interested in the solar system. Children participated in making a paper mache sun for their solar system. Children worked together as they painted and layered a balloon with glue and recycled newspaper. Lions waited until the balloon dried before layering it again and again.

01.01.2022 On Friday, the Lions had a special visit from Emma who works at Cumberland council Cleanaway. Emma spoke to the Lions about creating a sustainable future by extending on our teachings of the three bins that we use in our everyday lives. They participated in activities, games and reading a book.
