23.01.2022 ATO: Super guarantee payment due before 28 April If you have workers, don't forget that their super guarantee contributions for the last quarter is due 28 April 2020. If you have not already done so, you need to pay a minimum of 9.5% of each eligible employee’s ordinary time earnings (gross wages) in super to a complying fund by the due date. Unlike other payment types you may make in business, super contributions are only counted as paid when the super fund receives them. Th...at’s why it’s best to make any payments well before 28 April to ensure they reach the super fund on time. Employers who fail to pay the minimum superannuation guarantee contributions by this date must pay the superannuation guarantee charge (SGC) and lodge a Superannuation guarantee charge statement - quarterly by 28 May 2020. SGC is not tax deductible when paid late nor is the superannuation guarantee charge. If you're a business with 19 or fewer employees, or have an aggregated turnover of less than $10 million, you can use the Small Business Superannuation Clearing House to save time and avoid the super guarantee charge. It’s fast and easy to use because you pay all of your super contributions in one transaction and the clearing house will distribute your payment to the various super funds on your behalf. Start saving time by using the clearing house this quarter. Important links below: https://www.ato.gov.au/Business/Super-for-employers/ https://www.ato.gov.au//small-business-superannuation-cle/

05.01.2022 ATO: Quarterly Business Activity Statement due - 28 February 2020 (for all lodgers) The Business Activity Statement (BAS) for the October to December 2019 quarter is due for lodgement and payment by 28 February 2020. The BAS is relevant if your business is registered for GST and can also include your other tax liabilities such as PAYGW (wages tax if you have employees), Fringe Benefit Tax instalments and PAYG instalments (income tax instalments).... If you do prepare yourself then please make sure that you save all paperwork in relation to calculating your quarterly BAS amounts so that you can support the amounts included. The amounts should agree to reports from your accounting system. Before preparing any calculations or printing any reports make sure your bank accounts have been fully processed up to 31 December 2019 and that you have checked that your accounting system bank balances agree to the bank statements at the same date. Don't forget to account for any out of pocket expenses and retain all receipts for amounts of over $75 to support. If you would like assistance with preparing your business activity statements make sure you contact us now. * If the due date is on a weekend then the lodgement and payment date is the next business day. NOTE: I have attached a donation button for the Australian Red Cross as we are thinking of those who are affected by the devastating fires around us. We are not in any form affiliated with Red Cross - just think its a great cause and donations are tax deductible as the Australian Red Cross is a deductible gift recipient (DGR).
