23.01.2022 Great Southern Classic Car Show Announcement Thank you to everyone who participated, supported, sponsored and volunteered at our successful 2019 Great Southern Classic Car Show event. After discussions with event stakeholders regarding the uncertainty of the Covid-19 restrictions and in particular to large gatherings, we have regretfully decided to cancel this years event with the vision of running a BIGGER and BETTER 2021 Event. ... Our decision to cancel was not an easy one but in the best interest of our local community; we believe a responsible one. Again thank you to all the businesses, the Shire of Denmark, our entrants and community groups that offered their support for this years event. We look forward to seeing you all at the "Great Southern Classic Car Show" on Sun, 26 September 2021! Thank you for your understanding. Ron Barnett Chairperson Great Southern Classic Car Show Inc.

19.01.2022 Expressions of interest in a Quairading Rally Hi all, The Quairading Vintage Club are asking if there would be any interest in a vintage machinery rally on Saturday the 10th of October 2020, as our 100th Quairading show has been postponed to 2021 and has left us with a date and venue free. The rally is to be open to all vintage engines, tractors, trucks, cars and farm machinery. We are aiming at trying to get 50-60 exhibits minimum for it to be worthwhile, exhibitors entry wi...ll be free. If you could please let us know if you are interested by the 18th of July, we will make a decision if we are to go ahead. With the loss of most of our motor shows, ag shows etc this year I know a few are keen for a rally, I know I am! Please forward this to anyone you think may be interested. Please register your interest to me (Andrew) at [email protected] or ring me on 0427 455 308 between 6-8pm most evenings, do leave a message if I dont answer or send me a text message if you prefer. Cheers Andrew Caporn On behalf of Quairading Vintage Club. See more

19.01.2022 In the historic car movement in Australia we have been lamenting the fact that we do not have current information on the contribution that the Historic Car Movement makes to the Australian economy. This information is particularly important when dealing with Government on the implications of current and potential legislation. FIVA, the organisation that represents the historic car movement worldwide has just initiated a worldwide survey of the interest in and the benefits of ...the historic car movement. FIVA is currently running a comprehensive economic survey, which only became active in the last few days and which is open for responses by individual historic vehicle owners, until the end of September this year. This survey will be covering responses from 70+ countries from around the world. The survey is based on the 2019 calendar year and avoids the disruption of 2020 and Covid. By participating in this survey we will not only provide a world overview of the contribution that historic vehicles make to economies but it will provide the opportunity to get details of the contribution specifically to Australia, so long as we get historic vehicle owners to complete the survey. If you own a historic vehicle, of any type (motorcycle, car, truck, bus...original or modified), regardless of whether you're in a CMC affiliated club, please add your voice by completing this survey. The information gained from this survey has the potential to provide us much useful information when we have to negotiate support for our movement with the state and federal governments. When completing the survey participants may feel reticent about including their earnings capacity, however, I have been assured through FIVAS privacy provisions that this information will be aggregated and will not be identifiable to any specific person. The survey can be completed online by going to: https://fiva.org/en/ There is a link to the survey on the front page.

17.01.2022 Although the story of the Markham car collection is not a happy one, one good thing resulted from the controversy - the classic motoring community came together and founded the Motor Museum of WA. You can see several of the Markham cars on display at the Motor Museum to this day. https://youtu.be/JaScBsxJMaU

16.01.2022 Shannons is proud to present a very special car show dedicated to the history of Holden, to be held in WA on 13 December 2020. With this year marking the cessation of the iconic Aussie car brand, it’s an appropriate time to celebrate every model that made Holden Australia’s favourite car for a generation. The venue is the former site of City Motors Holden, 505 Newcastle Street, West Perth, where we are attempting to curate a display featuring one of every Holden model built i...n Australia. Not only that, Western Australian enthusiasts can participate for free, with a parking area set aside for anything that fits the bill. Holden Specials, Kingswoods, Commodores, Statesmans, Toranas, Geminis and even Camiras; if it was built by Holden, then its welcome. Torque N Power will be podcasting all day at the show and want to hear from YOU! If you have a great Holden story then head on over to the recording booth to share it. You never know, we may be so impressed that you could win a $500 Auto One gift card or a range of other limited edition Shannons memorabillia. We recognize the importance of mental health particularly amongst men, being an underrepresented demographic in the area. To support this cause we have chosen Movember as our event charity partner, and any donations received on the day will go directly to the charity in full. Discretionary discounts are encouraged on the day at any of the collection points or by the WA Motor Museum volunteer staff. CARS WANTED FOR DISPLAY: If you have a Holden with a great backstory, or perhaps one in showroom condition, then we want to hear from you. That includes pre-'48 Holden bodies. If you have a car that fits the bill, or would like to be a part of this once in a lifetime show, then please call James McDonald on 0409 376 000 or email [email protected] Check out the story at Shannons - https://www.shannons.com.au//gone-but-not-forgotten-holde/

12.01.2022 Concessions for Classics (modified scheme) finally comes through.

12.01.2022 CMC club members should all be aware through their CMC representatives that the Department of Transport have proposed a raft of changes to the operation of Code 404. Despite earlier assurances that Code 404 would remain separate from the new C4C concession for modified vehicles, DoT have since advised "the Veteran/Vintage (404) scheme will soon be modernised, mirroring the vehicle use restrictions and motoring club responsibilities of the Concessions for Classics scheme. Whe...n implemented, Veteran/Vintage participants will have the flexibility to use their vehicle for 90 days per annum 60 days for participation in club sanction events and 30 days for personal use, testing, maintenance or repair. DoT approved car clubs will be required to maintain a record of vehicle use by their members for auditing and compliance with the scheme." There is still a large degree of uncertainty how these new rules will operate in practice, but the consensus from the clubs is that this will involve a significant increase in administrative effort on the part of club registrars and, unless rules and processes are clarified further, uncertainty about appropriate road use. Code 404 has operated successfully in Western Australia since 1964 and currently is one of the better schemes for unmodified and original classic vehicles in Australia. It is largely self governed and maintained with a high degree of compliance. The move to integrate the new modified scheme with Code 404 is being pushed entirely for bureaucratic convenience. CMC representatives have been negotiating with DoT for many months with a view to maintaining Code 404 'as is.' This has not been successful. The classic motoring community represented by the CMC exceeds some 10,000 members and consequently has a voice which politicians need to hear. We encourage all members who are concerned about these proposed changes to contact their local member and politely and respectfully express their concerns. Your CMC representative has examples of letter and correspondence already drafted which you may wish to use. Please contact them to obtain a copy. We would like Code 404 to remain as is.
