Please drop to the front verandah of the Sydney Community Services office today at 46 Gladesville Rd between 8:30-4pm. The staff are practising social distancing so arent able to come to the door.

12.01.2022 Put a bear in your window to join the community Bear Hunt! Residents are encouraged to join forces (at a safe social distance) to take part in the worldwide mov...ement to bring some joy to neighbourhoods during the present period of social distancing (in a bid to prevent the spread of COVID-19). Getting involved is easy: simply put a teddy bear in a window or veranda of your home so it is visible from the street for passers-by to spot on a walk or drive past. Kids are encouraged to tally up how many bears they can find. Share photos and/or messages about your bears in the comments below. Check out where to spot the bears or put yourself on the map by adding your address to the Google Map layer - link via our website http://www.huntershill.nsw.gov.au/events/bear-hunt/ See more

10.01.2022 Residents of Hunters Hill please be advised A comprehensive shutdown of non-essential services will occur over the next 48 hours. An important update from the Premier of New South Wales, Gladys Berejiklian: ... Tonight I will be informing the National Cabinet that NSW will proceed to a more comprehensive shutdown of non-essential services. This will take place over the next 48 hours. Supermarkets, petrol stations, pharmacies, convenience stores, freight and logistics, and home delivery will be among the many services that will remain open. Schools will be open tomorrow, though I will have more to say on this issue in the morning. I will update NSW tomorrow morning about the impacts and our plans following the National Cabinet.

08.01.2022 Fabulous morning spent at #henleygreenscommunitygarden with the lovely Emma and the feathery girls. We spent a bit of time weeding and cleaning up the Henley si...gn. Lucky we had so much rain last night which did all the watering for us! Picked lots of produce that we have donated to the #huntershillcommunitycentre for those that may be a little bit more vulnerable in the community at this time. Also had a couple of lovely visitors. Hopefully in not too long we will be able to receive more people to the garden but for now it is just a couple of us at a time doing the tending. Do hope everyone is keeping safe and well. Love from the#gladesvillehappyhens and friends See more
07.01.2022 There's some conflicting information out there about the proposed Mary Street Crossing near Villa Maria Primary School, so let me clarify some things: The cos...t is $88 thousand, not $88 million. The Local Area Traffic Committee have approved it in-principal, subject to final designs (waiting on council for final designs). Hunter's Hill Council has agreed to build it, but they have not agreed to fund it. Which means it CANNOT BE BUILT until money is allocated or a grant given (waiting on council for funding). We can't blame Transport NSW (formerly RMS) for delays in assessing it because the design has not yet been sent for assessment (waiting on council for an application). The councillors who deferred the decision to fund it indicated that they will make a positive decision on the funding at the next meeting. So there are THREE things that we need to get this project moving: 1. Funding needs to be confirmed by council (deferred to 23rd of March meeting); 2. Local Area Traffic Committee needs to approve it (I believe the meeting is 19th of March); and 3. Approvals need to be lodged with Transport NSW and Ausgrid. There is a process, which has been followed, and no one is suggesting that it should be circumvented.. it just needs to be done with a sense of URGENCY. Those who saw the last meeting might wonder if the words we argue over is semantics... but the devil is in the detail! Hopefully the 23rd of March is the last time this needs to come to council and funding is finally signed off.

07.01.2022 It's R U OK?Day, a reminder that every day is a day to start a conversation that could change a life. Today we're calling on Australians to learn what to say af...ter R U OK? so they can keep the conversation going when someone says they're not OK. There's more to say after R U OK? Learn what to say when listening with an open mind Learn what to say when encouraging action Learn what to say when checking in Learn how to continue a conversation that could change a life. When we know what to say next we can help someone open up and find pathways to support long before they're in crisis. Learn what to say next and help us move closer to our vision of a world where we're all connected and are protected from suicide. Head to www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask

03.01.2022 Anzac Day is a very important date in our calendar but this year will be very different. To protect the community from the COVID-19 pandemic, health authorities... have banned public gatherings to ensure social distancing is maintained. RSL NSW has made the decision to cancel Anzac Day commemorations in 2020, including services and marches. This is consistent with the approach of all state and territory RSL organisations in Australia, and has the support of all State and Territory Governments and the Commonwealth Government. This year we will all experience Anzac Day in a different way, with special services televised from Canberra at 5:30am and Sydney at 10am. The services will be broadcast live on ABC TV and streamed on the Anzac Memorial and RSL Facebook pages. We can all unite as one in front of the TV or tablet while keeping safe at home. You can record and share videos reciting the ode, or post a photo and message of support on social media using the tags #AnzacDay2020, #AnzacDayathome, #AnzacSpirit and @AnzacMemorial. We are a resilient and brave State and we always pull together when times are tough. Lets show our Anzac spirit and honour the pledge that we will still remember them. The Ode: "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them."
