24.01.2022 Happy National Recycling Week This emerging project "Aspire" is a call to local business to investigate opportunities towards a circular economy. CCIQ ecoBiz invited Redland City Council along with City of Gold Coast and Logan City Council to participate in the ASPIRE Pilot Project. This project seeks to reduce waste through an online trading platform for industry waste streams which can be reused in other parts of the supply chain, inviting businesses and social enterprises... to register to participate. Digital Displays to promote the project are at Council’s three Customer Service Centres and at the Business and Job Expo next week. 18.01.2022 Congratulations Straddie Brewing Co who cleaned up at "The Indies" an annual Awards Celebration for Australian craft beer. Three Beers. Three Medals. Organised by the Independent Brewers Association, the awards, held this year virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions, is designed to celebrate independently-owned craft breweries and to recognise the brewers who continually strive to bring you great tasting, fresh, craft beer. ... Thirty one judges critiqued 696 beers from independent brewers nationwide, to award Gold, Silver & Bronze Medals in a total of nine beer style categories. Straddie Brewing Co represented Redlands Coast with style to pick up three medals: Gold for Point Lookout Lager, Bronze for Amity Pale Ale and Bronze for our Myora Springs Gose. Only brewing since July, and only having released three beers, this is a FANTASTIC achievement, and well-deserved recognition for the business and the talents as a brewer. 03.01.2022 Attention long suffering Cleveland 50M pool lovers Not long now ........ Lets hope neither Covid or Port issues create any further delay ------------------------------------------------------------------- 50 metre Pool Updates 16 Nov 2020... The good news is that our new 50-metre pool filters are on their way and are now expected to land in Brisbane port on 3 December. For swimmers, pool contractors, Redland City Council and the Centre Operator, it has been a long and frustrating wait. After a series of delays from major COVID -19 impacts on global shipping schedules and then by weather on route, the filters are now expected to arrive in Malaysia’s Port Klang in the next few days, before embarking on their final leg to Brisbane. A team of contractors are on stand-by and committed to installing the new filters as soon as they clear customs and arrive on-site, allowing the 50 pool to be operational again before Christmas. Centre users will see other work continuing on final landscaping, tiling and concourse painting. At the same time, every effort is being made to complete this last major 50-metre pool upgrade as early as possible. https://yoursay.redland.qld.gov.au/cleveland-aquatic-centre

02.01.2022 The walk for staff and patients of Redlands and Mater Hospitals just got a bit more pleasant with Councils delivery of several hundred meters of new path. Part of a record capital works, and a pivot shift to active transport infrastructure spending it is a popular addition. PS Happy 20th Birthday Mater Private Redland I was happy to join you today for the celebration.
