Event was well supported by Melbourne city Mission early links team, Merrihealth( Count Me In Too project) team, Moomba park Tennis Club and Tennis Vic. The event was attended by ... Over 35 kids along with over 15 adults. Participants feedback was all positive; I loved playing with my family I loved it because we could all have a hit together I dont want to go home yet, I want to play more tennis (this quote sums it all up)! 17.01.2022 Subject: Women from culturally diverse backgrounds in leadership There is a large underrepresentation of women from culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) backgrounds who are leaders throughout many sectors, including sport. To increase organisational performance, social responsibility, membership and gender equality in the sport sector, there is a need to increase the number of women from CALD backgrounds as leaders.... Sports leadership roles exist in community clubs through to international organisations. Many roles exist, examples include a: team manager for children; club committee / board member; coach; umpire; senior marketing manager; CEO; and President. To help create diverse and inclusive workplaces in sport, we need to understand what prevents or encourages you to be a leader. Your input will be combined with hundreds of other womens and findings will be transferred into strategies to assist sport organisations. 13.01.2022 Merri Health partnered with Tennis Victoria to engage more than 105 culturally diverse women and girls in a four week womens social tennis program at Fawkner T...ennis Club. Following the program, 16 families and individuals registered with the club and an additional 16 women and girls were trained as Open Court Sessions tennis hosts and will facilitate womens Sunday social tennis at the club. More than 25 local women gathered on the green last Friday at the Fawkner Bowling Club Inc to celebrate the success of the Count Me In Too pro...gram, which supports young women and girls from diverse backgrounds to be involved in local sporting clubs and organisations in Fawkner, Glenroy and Hadfield! One participant said we have a growing community in Fawkner so continuing programs like Count Me In Too will be great for the newer migrants too. Another said I have built new friendships due to this project Mayor of Moreland Cr Natalie Abboud, Minister for Women The Hon Gabrielle Williams MP and Director of Office for Women in Sport and Recreation Victoria Dr Bridie ODonnell attended on the day. The program, which is a partnership between Merri Health and Moreland City Council, has been so successful at Fawkner Bowls Club that the first Friday of each month is now a women-only day to cater for the strong demand! The Count Me In project is a finalist for the Chief Health Officers Award for supporting healthy populations! It has been a fabulous partnership project between Merri Health, The Jack Brockhoff Child Health and Wellbeing Program, The University of Melbourne and many other community partners to promote social inclusion for CALD communities through sports participation. ...
