21.01.2022 "Victorian Aboriginal children are 15 times more likely to be removed from their families than non-Indigenous children"

19.01.2022 "That it is not just one incident or a single individual's experience, is borne out by the 2016 Women In Media report, which found that 50 per cent - yes, half - the women currently working in media have experienced sexual harassment, bulling and intimidation"

19.01.2022 "Camp Cope have truly ignited discussion around gender balance on festivals, and with a groundswell of support from fans and other musicians, expect to see this become an ongoing issue until further progress toward equality is made".

19.01.2022 Here in Australia, we could start with compelling employers to report data on instances of sexual harassment and discrimination, lifting the restrictive six-month time limit for making complaints to the Australian Human Rights Commission and requiring companies to report the results of gender pay audits to their boards (because only 13.9 per cent of them do). This new year gives us the opportunity to pledge that all of us, and not just victims, advocate for change.

18.01.2022 "Because motherhood is when women’s unpaid labour increases and job security decreases, it’s when women begin to leave their jobs, leaving their superannuation to stagnate. It’s when domestic violence can ramp up, medical issues become fraught or when the very ability to keep your children with you depends on the lottery of unearned privilege".

17.01.2022 "The report, commissioned by former sex discrimination commissioner Elizabeth Broderick, does not include any discussion of the decades of scandals which have plagued the USYD colleges, including a St Pauls "pro-rape" Facebook group, Wesley stubby holders that read "it's not rape if it's my birthday", a St Andrew's "bachelor of inebriation" ritual, and college graffiti that read "they can't say no with a cock in their mouth".

17.01.2022 "Right around the country, local clubs are trying to grapple with, 'How do we deal with this influx of all these girls that have realised they can actually come and play too?' It's a good problem to have."

17.01.2022 "Entertainment is literally shaping our lives. British cosmetic surgery group Transform says that since Keeping Up with the Kardashians first aired, it has seen a dramatic rise in inquiries for achieving Kardashian-like features. There's a term for it, too: "The Dash Effect." The day that Kylie Jenner admitted she had lip fillers, Transform got 700 per cent more inquiries, overnight, about the procedure".

17.01.2022 Minimum wages are systematically lower in jobs more commonly held by women. For example, minimum wage workers in the health care sector earn substantially less than similarly skilled minimum wage workers in road transportation.

14.01.2022 "History has shown that if you want progress, you need to enforce it."

12.01.2022 "The prevalence of violence against women in our community and our workplaces means that every employer should conclude that gendered violence is likely to exist in their organisations. Employers can then audit the extent of their risks and eliminate it".

12.01.2022 "While the percentage of women in their prime working ages working full-time has risen over the past 40 years, only 41% of such women work full-time, compared with 73% of men. Similarly, 51% of women highlighted the need for financial assistance with childcare costs, while just 36% of men rated the issue as very important. While 29% of women suggested that it was very important that they be able to work school hours which would enable dropping off and picking up children only 8% of men suggested that was a very important incentive for them to return to work"

08.01.2022 "Campaigns that focus on functionality display a variety of types of bodies different shapes and sizes functionally doing exercise and being physically active,"

05.01.2022 "Women’s sport may have risen to another level in 2017, but make no mistake, the revolution is only just beginning".

05.01.2022 "The FixedIt project started three years ago. It's about the noxious headlines over articles describing men's violence against women and the media's misrepresentation (or no representation) of women. Invisible perpetrators and blameable victims. Sexualised young women and erased older women. Ridiculous stereotypes and contemptuous dismissals".

03.01.2022 They see men and boys in the driver’s seat, whether that’s at the helm of a company or in an intimate relationship. They are told that males are naturally controlled by their libidos and that it’s up to girls to protect themselves or face accusations they were ‘asking for it’.They see sexist male peer cultures dismissed as just ‘boys being boys’, and sexual harassment of women trivialised as ‘just a joke’

02.01.2022 "The struggle for women to break in, to rise up the ranks and to simply be heard and acknowledged in male-dominated workplaces must end; time's up on this impenetrable monopoly,"

02.01.2022 "In Western Australia, our children are 17 times more likely to be removed. I do not know one Aboriginal family who has not been affected.... More children are being removed today than they ever were during the Stolen Generations"

01.01.2022 "The reason women are able to report it [alleged sexual misconduct or harassment] now is because Australian sport is experiencing a women's sport revolution and all the major sports want to get onto the bandwagon..... A saturated market like Australian sport, women's sport is a new frontier. To get the best talent on and off the field you have to clean up your backyard and have a safe, respectful working environment for women"

01.01.2022 "Women, unlike men, are defined by their appearance, and by extension, their weight. They cannot simply shed the kegs, and expect that there won't be backlash. Because weight for a woman is viewed as integral to her identity. This is why trolls believe telling a woman she's fat is the ultimate silencer, because to call a woman fat is to call her not just ugly or unappealing to men, but worthless".

01.01.2022 "When Ruby left for school yesterday it was 2017 but when she returned home in the afternoon she was from 1968," "Girls hair and make-up in the school library. Boys DIY workshop at Bunnings. Sigh. Will things ever change?"
