24.01.2022 Another absolutely tragic night on the Bruce Highway. #RACQ #CQRescue was tasked by Queensland Health to a motor vehicle accident on the Highway south of Bloomsbury about 9.30pm involving a truck and sedan. It is believed the sedan, which was heading north, veered on to the opposite side of the road and collided head on with a truck travelling south. The car driver was killed instantly. ... #RACQ #CQRescue transported to truck driver to Mackay Base Hodpital for further treatment. See more
24.01.2022 A 50-year-old woman was trapped in a concrete truck when the vehicle rolled on the Suttor Developmental Road, about 35km south of Mt Coolon today. In a marathon five-and-a-half hour mission, #RACQ #CQRescue flew almost 400km to transfer the injured truck driver to Mackay Base Hospital. The Mackay-based rescue helicopter was tasked by Queensland Health just after 1pm and arrived on the scene at 2.30pm with a doctor and Critical Care Paramedic on board. As Queensland Fire and E...mergency Services - QFES crews worked for more than two hours to free the driver from the truck wreckage, the helicopter was relocated and refuelled nearby at a rail corridor camp. An ambulance then transferred the woman, who suffered leg and rib injuries, to the rescue helicopter and she was flown to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition arriving at 6pm. Great work by all involved in rescuing her and transferring her to hospital! See more

22.01.2022 The figures are both tragic and astounding - there's been a 35% increase in the number of patients airlifted to hospital by #RACQ #CQRescue with injuries from motor vehicle accidents. It's only November and already our rescue helicopter has transported people on 46 occasions with serious injuries from motor vehicle accidents, compared to just 34 in 2019 and 38 in 2019. That's an average of four accidents a month - and that's during the pandemic this year when there was less ...people travelling on our roads! The latest Australian road toll shows the number of road-related deaths per month is declining in all states except Queensland. This year we’ve lost 232 lives on Queensland roads, 41 more lives than this time last year. The top four causes of car accidents are speeding, alcohol consumption, driver fatigue and inattention/distraction while driving. Road injuries and deaths are preventable. Do the right thing every time you get behind the wheel. The best gift you can give this festive season is your presence - take care and arrive at your destination safely. The crew at #RACQ #CQRescue really don't want to meet you by accident on the road this Christmas.

21.01.2022 Great morning at the #RACQ #CQRescue final Rescue 412 breakfast for this year. More than 80 people joined us in the hangar to hear about the challenges we faced in 2020, some of our missions this year and to celebrate their contribution to helping keep our service up in the air. Despite the uncertainty and chaos that was 2020, the one thing that hasn’t changed is the increasing demand for our aeromedical services. Also, the incredible ongoing support of this grateful communit...y which is absolutely critical to our ability to save lives. If this year has taught us anything, it’s that we are all vulnerable to unexpected illness or injury and it’s all our responsibility to help others in our community overcome these obstacles. Every Rescue 412 member and organisation who donates to our community-funded rescue helicopter service is an integral part of that and the lifesaving work we do. Without their support, we literally couldn’t get off the ground. Their support is vital to this community and those who live, work and visit our beautiful region. #lifeline #1300savinglives #rescue412 #proudsupporter See more
20.01.2022 #RACQ #CQRescue has this afternoon landed on a cattle property 150km south-west of Mackay to airlift a teenager with serious burns. The Mackay-based chopper was tasked by Queensland Health about 4.30pm to evacuate the teen from the remote property after they were burnt lighting a fire using petrol. The teenager is now being airlifted to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition. It is the sixth job completed by #RACQ #CQRescue in the first four days of 2021.
19.01.2022 #RACQ #CQRescue airlifted a 40-year-old woman with serious injuries after she was crushed by a horse at Nebo yesterday. The Mackay-based helicopter was tasked by Queensland Health about 5pm to fly 90km south-west to land at the Nebo Showgrounds to transport the Mackay woman to hospital. She was riding when the horse tripped, she fell and the animal landed on top of her. She suffered internal injuries and a suspected broken leg and was flown to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition.

14.01.2022 Golf isn’t normally what you’d refer to as one of the most ‘dangerous’ sports in the world right? But one unlucky Moranbah resident had a ‘round to remember’ yesterday when he was playing golf and stepped on what he thought was a stick. Closer inspection revealed it was actually a brown snake and the reptile was having a second strike at the poor man’s leg! Not the kind of 'hole in one' you want playing golf! The golfer was the second person to be bitten by a snake and a...irlifted from Moranbah to Mackay Base Hospital by #RACQ #CQRescue this month. The Mackay-based rescue helicopter has already airlifted 10 patients bitten by snakes this year, including one in July, four in April and one patient each in January and February. It is Reptile Awareness Day on Wednesday, October 21, so it's the perfect time to remind residents and visitors that as the weather heats up, the number of highly-venomous snakes on the move in yards and gardens also increases. In the event of a snake bite, immobilise the patient and limb with a crepe bandage and call 000. Every snake bite should be managed as a medical emergency. Correct first aid could save a snake victim’s life - no 'putts' about it! See more

Stay tuned as there are so many wonderful things to come and reasons to celebrate this service, our patients and your support. #lifeline #1300savinglives #rescue412 #rescuehelicopter
11.01.2022 #RACQ #CQRescue has airlifted an injured man after he crashed his dirt bike in dense bush land at Cathu State Forest today. The rider landed on rocks after coming off a small bridge on a track near the Hold It Flat campgrounds, about 76km north-west of Mackay. He suffered possible spinal, neck and abdominal injuries. An #RACQ #CQRescue rescue crewman and Critical Care Paramedic were winched down from the chopper into a clearing from about 40 metres above and the patient was stretchered up into the chopper and flown to Mackay Base Hospital about 1.30pm.

09.01.2022 More than four times around the world or halfway to the moon. #RACQ #CQRescue clocked up a staggering 164,000km on 631 tasks in 2020. That’s an average of nearly two missions and 450km flown every day by our region’s rescue helicopter! The busiest months for our service were September and October with 62 and 63 tasks respectively, but on average our crew completed 52 missions each month, many of them lifesaving. Further evidence of how vital this service is to Central and No...rth Queensland and why we desperately need your support again in 2021. It really means the world to those in dire need. #anyone #anywhere #anytime See more

06.01.2022 Absolutely bloody horrific. It’s an incredibly dark day for all emergency services personnel as another two lives are tragically lost on our region’s road. Two people have died and a truck driver was seriously injured and airlifted to hospital by #RACQ #CQRescue this afternoon after two utes and a B-double collided head-on on the Peak Downs Highway near Moranbah. ... The driver was trapped in his truck for a short time but was freed by Queensland Fire and Emergency Services - QFES before being transported to Moranbah hospital by Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS). He was then flown to Mackay by our rescue helicopter in a stable condition with serious lacerations and leg injuries. Tonight, our prayers go out to the loved ones, friends and colleagues of all those involved in this awful tragedy as well as as the emergency service personnel who were confronted by such a horrific scene again on this busy highway.
05.01.2022 Huge shout out to local lad and former Mackay Cutters player Andrew Davey who was last night named the Eric Grothe NRL Rookie of the Year following his debut season at the Parramatta Eels. Andrew very kindly organised for a Parramatta Eels game jersey to be signed by the 2020 team for #RACQ #CQRescue. Considering the very successful year the Eels have had, it will no doubt be a highly sought after item when it goes up for auction at the 2021 CQ Rescue gala dinner in August where will be also celebrate 25 years of lifesaving service to this region. Congratulations Andrew and thanks for the support. The team at #RACQ #CQRescue wishes you all the best for 2021 season at Manly Sea Eagles.
04.01.2022 Another busy 24 hours for #RACQ #CQRescue. Today we winched a rescue crewman down into the water at Cid Harbour in the Whitsundays to rescue a boatie who suffered injuries and burns after a battery exploded in his face. It is believed the tourist was working on the powerboat when the battery blew up and he suffered serious injuries and burns to his face and left arm. His wife was also on board when the accident happened and was able to call 000. #RACQ #CQRescue was tasked by... Queensland Health to the popular anchorage in the Whitsundays about 1pm after the 67-year-old man was injured on the 6.5 metre single hull vessel which was anchored in the picturesque harbour, about 102km north of Mackay. Given the boat battery was dead, the helicopter crew were unable to make contact with the vessel via marine radio or any other boaties in the anchorage to help render assistance. The chopper crew swiftly made the decision for the rescue crewman to be winched down into the water at Cid Harbour so he could swim about five metres to board the vessel. He then had the precarious task of loading the injured patient and his wife into a small tender to travel to shallow water nearby adjacent to where the helicopter was able to land on the sandy shore. They have now arrived at Mackay Base Hospital. Yesterday, #RACQ #CQRescue airlifted an elderly woman to hospital after she was seriously injured in a horror accident involving a caravan and truck on the Bruce Highway near Waverley Creek. The 81-year-old Mackay woman and her partner were travelling along the highway when it is believed a tyre blew and they were forced to stop about 12.30pm. The vehicle pulled off to the side of the road at the top of a crest. Whilst the woman was underneath the caravan, a truck sideswiped the van, completely destroying it. The Mackay-based rescue helicopter was tasked as part of the @Queensland Health Aeromedical Retrieval Network direct to the accident scene south of Clairview about 12.45pm. She was transferred to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition. Well done team! #anyone #anywhere #anytime See more

04.01.2022 We’re saving lives 24/7 here at #RACQ #CQRescue. Birds of a feather flock together, so when two tiny plover chicks were trapped in drain outside our office at the airport today, the #CQRescue team soared in to the rescue. Engineers, crew and office staff were unflappable as they winged it using broom handles and crowbars to free the tiny fluffy hatchlings who were struggling in the heat. Another show of im-peck-able team work! It was certainly quite egg-citing to see this plover family reunited. #lifeline #savinglives24/7 #birdlivesmatter
