25.01.2022 Fantastic announcement out today. Cant wait to see the final product!

25.01.2022 Link here for anyone who wants to download the COVIDSafe app. Pretty straight forward and a great initiative to help track and control the virus.

24.01.2022 The Shire will be closing all public facilities by the end of the day in response to the COVID-19 public health emergency, with the exception of waste facilitie...s and essential childcare services. Staff are currently working on plans for the continuance of services via alternative means. Further announcements will be made as soon as possible. See more

24.01.2022 Today as another part of our induction process we toured the some of the Shires facilities and it was fantastic to see some of the finished projects that were started when I was on council previously, like the redevelopment of Margaret River HEART and the cabins at Turner Caravan Park, Augusta. Both are a real credit to all the staff involved.

24.01.2022 Has been great to see everyone cleaning up their blocks of late. However, with the forecast of dry, warm and gusty winds for Saturday through Sunday, ahead of the rain, the Shire of Augusta Margaret River has now issued a Section 46 Notice, prohibiting the lighting of any fire in the open air and will be directing all owners or occupiers of the land to extinguish (where possible) any fire burning on the land from 1300hrs on Friday, 22 May 2020 until 2000hrs on Monday, 25 May 2020. This applies for the whole of the Shire of Augusta Margaret River. Please share the message so we can avoid any burn offs getting out of control. https://www.amrshire.wa.gov.au//fires-prohibited-this-wee/

23.01.2022 Another 2 days of training done and dusted

23.01.2022 Was awesome to see a huge crowd at the Margaret River HEART last night for the movie Rams. I took my family and for us there were so many connections, from sheep farming and ag shows to a brush with Johne’s Disease as well as being filmed in Mt Barker. Highly recommend if you have a chance to see.

22.01.2022 With our region still struggling to find workers this week council agreed to some temporary changes to allow workers to occupy short-term accommodation dwellings for longer periods and for caravan parks to accommodate seasonal workers on a case-by-case basis. We are hoping to share the message and get people thinking about the possibility of helping out with accommodation for seasonal workers over the next few months. With so many business operating below capacity due to labor shortages it is a real problem across the state and we are attempting to do all we can to get people thinking, even along the lines of perhaps letting out a spare room they may have for the next few months ahead.

21.01.2022 If youre tempted to go for a dip this weekend, health advice is to avoid Barrett Street Weir. Recent water samples are currently indicating potentially unsafe ...levels of Escherichia coli and Enterococci. Test results for all other sampled swimming spots are so far a-okay but always use your own judgement as levels can change between testing dates. https://www.amrshire.wa.gov.au//health-warning-for-barret/ See more

21.01.2022 Yet another spectacular pantomime by the Margaret River Theatre Group, well done to everyone involved! If you have not seen it yet you still have a couple of chances this week. It was my first show at the new Margaret River HEART and I have to say I love the comfy new chairs and acoustics. Bring on the next show!!

21.01.2022 If there was ever a time to visit the cinema now is it! Really enjoyed this one at Margaret River HEART last night. With three seat spacing due to COVD-19 restrictions, it was so nice not to be scrunched up next to someone other than Greg :-) Already picked the next three movies we want to see!

20.01.2022 We are all stepping into uncharted waters, here is a update from our Shire President.

19.01.2022 Its been hectic learning curve for us all, and certainly challenges my mind about how to get to where I want to go, but I must say so far everyone on the road has been patient and courteous. Excited to see how it all shapes up over these next few months.

19.01.2022 Fantastic news!

18.01.2022 So that people can get a bit of an insight into who we are outside of council each Councillor has a small video coming up over the next few weeks on the Shire of Augusta Margaret River FB page...seems like I am the only one that doesnt have a green thumb!

16.01.2022 Tonight was the annual Thank a Volunteer Night. This huge crowd is a small portion of the many volunteers we are lucky to have within our community. Congratulations to everyone and thank you all for the time you give up to make our community what it is. Congratulations also to all the winners and Ian Smith for taking out the big award. #proudofourcommunity

14.01.2022 Everyone has been so very creative during the lockdown from home deliveries to zoom quiz nights. The Uke Club Margaret River performing one of my all time favorite songs social distancing and on zoom, awesome job - I love it

14.01.2022 Been a long haul through COVID -19 and Main Street renovations, the bird in flight seems quite symbolic to me as we move forward to recovery and more positive times.

14.01.2022 Making the best of a bad situation to fast track Main Street upgrades makes good sense.

13.01.2022 Another awesome night put on by the Cowaramup Bullshed and Smokin' Bull BBQ These guys do a fantastic job and as always the food was outstanding At the rate kids grow it won't long and you guys will have lots of helpers!

12.01.2022 Technology being used to help get everyone doing the best job they can to recycle.

09.01.2022 Had to share this one - its 8degrees out there and the Wallcliffe Volunteer Fire Brigade were fighting a fire and managed to bog not one but three vehicles. What an awesome bunch of Volunteers probably not what they had planned for today but put a smile on my face and I am guessing they probably had a bit of fun along the way, and those beers will taste extra good tonight :-)

09.01.2022 Yesterday myself and our other two new Councillors called in for morning tea at the Cowaramup Bullshed (Men Shed). This group has in excess of 100 members including women and covers a huge range of community services. Really great to catch up and hear what they have been up to these last few years, including working with the team Smokin Bull BBQ to build the monster smoker below. I had the pleasure of attending its christening few months ago at their open night where they put on an amazing feast! #proudofourcommunity

08.01.2022 Entering uncharted territory its important we band together as a community to take on the months ahead. My photo was taken directly after our meeting tonight from heels to boots, desperate to get freight out of Perth we needed to slot in an extra overnight run. For me when I looked at my feet mid change it was the realisation that we are all as a community need to put on our boots and do what we can to get through. Tonight was out last in chamber council meeting for now w...hile we fight this virus. Future council meetings will be online and available for the community to view online. I just want everyone to know that our CEO, shire staff, president and councillors are all slipping on their boots to tackle the months ahead and do what we can to cross the bridge with our community. We know you all have a lot of concerns and as members, employees and small business owners ourselves we to are facing the same problems. Take care, stay home where you can and stay safe, we will get through this and we will come out stronger people on the other side. (for regular updates on changes the shire is making please follow their FB page) - apologies for mistakes in this - passenger in a truck that travels like a bouncy castle!! See more

08.01.2022 Last week saw the launch of a Shire Facebook page. A new approach to help keep everyone informed with updates, news and events happening in our community.

07.01.2022 With the weather these last few days this will be a big hit at Gnarabup Beach over the summer. Big thumbs up to Margaret River Rotary & Gareth @ PVP Signs.

06.01.2022 Dont forget the River Festival in Augusta this weekend, looking forward to heading down Sunday.

06.01.2022 It has been a crazy year to date, January & February we had fires and people helping where they could, March we saw people fighting over toilet paper in the isles and now in April there is The Kindness Pandemic. This morning on my drive through for my Saturday morning coffee at Yahava KoffeeWorks the awesome lady ahead of me purchased a coffee for the next car as a random act of kindness. I wanted to say to whomever you are - THANK YOU, you are amazing. I am fortunate to still have work, so I paid it forward to the next car. I hope that that coffee reaches someone who needed a little cheering up today, regardless, it has made my day and to whomever you are thank you again. Just simple acts of kindness that put a smile and restore faith :-)

06.01.2022 Celebrating 10 years of Artzability Margaret River. Costumes, show and dancing were AWESOME!! You put a smile on everyones faces and even got our Shire President Cr Ian Earl dancing. Congratulations to everyone involved on a spectacular evening!

06.01.2022 Here is how you can honour our diggers for ANZAC day this year during these difficult times. Lest we forget.

06.01.2022 Few giggles here, looking forward to the finished product. Well done to all involved. :-)

05.01.2022 These guys do an awesome job if anyone has a little free time to support them.

04.01.2022 That time of the year again, keep an eye out for these little ones around town. This Mum has quite a few that stopped traffic the other day while a lady made sure they got safely across the road

04.01.2022 Most of you will know I am passionate about our local Ag Show. I was a volunteer for 17 years and 5 of those as president. This is crunch time! Already the first AGM fell over with only one position being filled. We are running a second AGM on the 10th March @ 7pm at the Augusta Margaret River Football Club. We need people from all walks of life to come along and talk to us about how you can be a part of this iconic event in its 91st year. If you have any questions or wo...uld like to find out more please do not hesitate to contact me. If we get no community support this years event will not go ahead and that will be a great loss for our region as our show is the largest not for profit event run in our Shire. The people you see in the photo are the whole committee with 3 retiring, its a big job when only so few people put up their hand for an event that so many enjoy :-( Please get behind the society to keep the tradition going while there are people to share the knowledge. 03.01.2022 Proud Aunty moment tonight when presenting the Shire award at St Thomas More Catholic Primary School I got to see my nephew Ben take out the year 6 Science award Congratulations to the graduating year 6 class and to everyone envolved. School graduations are special events and I was very honoured to be a part. All the best to the year 6 class as they transition into high school and the journeys they embark on.

01.01.2022 Sign up to stay up to date with upcoming shows and events, there are some great events on the horizon!

01.01.2022 It's on again - Fundraiser for the Cowaramup Men's Shed, just purchased my tickets :-) Last year was a great event and I still have very fond memories of the amazing food Smokin' Bull BBQ served up, really looking forward to this years fundraiser :-)
