20.01.2022 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: LAKESIDE ALIVE AND DJERRIWARRH 2020 Sadly, Council has made the difficult decision to not proceed with Lakeside Alive and Djerriwarrh Festival in 2020. While we are very disappointed that were unable to hold these events for our community this year, we know its the right decision based on the information we have today. ... Events like these take many, many months to plan, and the current status of the COVID-19 crisis in Victoria has presented a great deal of uncertainty. We know that Lakeside Alive and Djerriwarrh Festival are much-loved community events, however we need to prioritise the health and safety of our community. We are very much looking forward to bringing you Lakeside Alive and Djerriwarrh Festival as reimagined events in 2021, that bring our beloved communities together in a showcase that celebrates the true diversity of the City of Melton.

15.01.2022 Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 Mayoral Ball that takes place every year in October will not go ahead. I decided to donate the money that had originally been allocated to the the Mayoral Ball, to two outstanding organisations that help women in our community who are experiencing family violence. Womens Health West and ... McAuley Community Services for Women. Covid-19 pandemic has compounded the impact of family violence for women in our municipality. Data from Victoria Police suggests that family violence call outs during May-June this year in the City of Melton, have increased by up to 20% compared to the same time last year. Victoria Police and family violence specialist workers, report an increase in severity of incidents in homes with an existing history of violence, as well as increased reports of family violence occurring for the first time. I would like to thank all my fellow Councillors for supporting me in donating $10,000 each to Womens Health West and McAuley Community Services for Women. I believe now more than ever, these two organisations need support so they can help those in our community, who are experiencing Family Violence.

11.01.2022 The COVID-19 crisis has hit many people in our community hard, and figuring out what kind of support is out there, and how to access it, can be daunting. Thats why Council has established three Connector Hubs across our City, that help our residents understand the types of support available to them, offer guidance on how to access services, and help everyone stay connected, healthy and informed. Our three Connector Hubs are located in: Caroline Springs... Aintree Kurunjang If youre looking for assistance with accessing food relief and care packages, financial or mental health counselling, job readiness programs or social connection and online learning activities, our Connector Hubs are a great place to start.
