20.01.2022 Images from the memorial service held at the Melbourne Chevra Kadisha Cemetery in Springvale to signify the 40th anniversary of the destruction of the Cracow Ghetto, Poland 13th March 1943. Many survivors were in attendance. The service was officiated by Rabbi Groner.

13.01.2022 13-14 March 1943 | A 2-day liquidation of the ghetto in Cracow. Hundreds of Jews were killed in the streets. Ca. 8 thousand of people who were able to work were... transferred to the forced labour camp for Jews in Plaszow, the rest were deported to Auschwitz. On 14 March 1943 a transport with 2,000 Jews deported from the liquidated ghetto in Cracow arrived at #Auschwitz. After the selection 484 men and 24 women were registered in the camp. The remaining group, 1,492 people, were killed in the gas chamber of crematorium II.

12.01.2022 The attached picture is a drawing of Dr Zygmunt Kurtz, Born 1896, Graduated in 1927 was a general practitioner in Cracow. Dr Kurtz was sent to the Nazi concentration camp in Plaszow, where the Doctor spent his energies ministering to the sick and to victims of a typhus epidemic. There are two accounts of his death in Plaszow. He died in the summer of 1944 after contracting typhus. He may have died in 1943. He was part of Peter Schnalls family and married to Peters great aunty Lola (dec). We have this picture to remember him by. #weremember
