25.01.2022 Guess What?? Ten-Pin Bowling is back open!! Our Hubs group recently enjoyed a trip to the local bowling centre.... They also enjoyed participating in the Bingo at South Grafton Ex- Serviceman's Club. --------------- Our Hubs or group programs are funded under NDIS. Each individual's funding is allocated according to their personal goals and needs. These goals may include life skills such as money handling and cooking or simply building lasting friendships and socialisation within the community. Our Hubs come together on a regular basis (weekdays in Grafton and on Mondays and Wednesdays in Yamba) and group individuals according to their wishes, interests and goals. Activities are goal orientated and always changing; determined by the choice, needs and goals of the customers. Outings and trips are included frequently in the Hub programming promoting inclusion by sharing our abilities with the community. 24.01.2022 Playgroup Wed 18/11 Unfortunately today the Playgroup at South Grafton in the Pirate Ship (Alex Bell) Park will be cancelled but next week we will be back there!... We had a great NAIDOC Week at Playgroup last week we did some fun craft, threading pasta and shaving cream painting! 22.01.2022 Under the spotlight: Mary Thurtel: Last week at CRANES we had our own Jacaranda celebration gathering. We enjoyed a bbq and cake and socialised. Our Sunshine Club Customers were able to socialise with our Hubs customers plus our staff.... Margaret Alderman: The second photo shows Margaret enjoying some time at our local See Park. -------- Our Sunshine Clubs are funded under CHSP (Commonwealth Home Support Programme). Designed as a social group for Over 65's. Our Clubs come together on a regular basis (weekly or fortnightly) in various locations across the Valley and include social interaction and a meal. Day trips are special planned events and occur on a semi-regular basis, but our clubs also meet at the same location week in, week out, if you are not able to participate in a day trip and prefer to attend a meeting in a fixed location. 20.01.2022 CRANES Says No to Domestic Violence Head down to the Grafton Library to see the display created by local students of Clarence Valley Schools. The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day. ... It was started by activists at the inaugural Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991 and continues to be coordinated each year by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership. It is used as an organizing strategy by individuals and organizations around the world to call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.

17.01.2022 Attached is a lovely selection of photos taken over the last few months of our SIL Accommodation customers. Some you may have seen before, and some are new. The photos show our customers thriving during this difficult time of a worldwide pandemic.... Enjoy! -------------- Our Accommodation Program is funded under NDIS. Each individual's accommodation funding (Supported Independent Living or SIL) is allocated according to their personal goals and care needs and how their supports are shared in each house. These supports are structured around not only their personal goals but also their supported living goals. These may include life skills or capacity building skills such as money handling and cooking or simply building lasting friendships and socialisation within the community. CRANES have many houses in the local community with some of our customers sharing accommodation and some living independently. We also have a fully accessible purpose built home on the banks of the river for our customers with complex needs. CRANES have a philosophy for our accommodation of turning "houses into homes" so our customers can enjoy a lifestyle that is likened to their own family home. Many of our staff are trained and experienced nurses to enable us to provide quality care to our customers who have health and medical needs and give them quality of life. Many of our accommodation customers attend day programs or employment seeking activities throughout the day and are encouraged to build relationships in the community. 14.01.2022 Under the Spotlight: Darcy. We have featured Darcy before as one of our long-term customers. Darcy is supported under the Continuum of Support Aged Care (COS) program to live independently.... Customers under the COS and SIL (Supported Independent Living) programs are assisted to enjoy the outdoors and other leisure activities as well as attend healthcare appointments.

09.01.2022 Under the spotlight: Ed Ed is a SIL Customer of CRANES Ed has been supported to move into a new SIL location with a new customer of CRANES.... This included: a) Assisting Ed to make an informed choice about his new living environment by showing Ed all the options. b) Supporting Ed to shop for household items for his new house. c) Supporting Ed to move d) Supporting Ed in the transition phase along with continued SIL supports.
