25.01.2022 Let your children see you slow down Read a book in a hammock, walk in the woods, sip coffee in the early hours of the morning, or write in a journal. Because when they grow up, they'll know how to slow down, too. Angela Anagnost-Repke #neurochild #sensory #teaching

24.01.2022 Breastfeeding protects mothers from diabetes, new research shows

24.01.2022 This came from a Kate White post from Luke Smith...I dont have the research link. A scientifically controlled study conducted by German researchers at the Unive...rsity of Kassel has shown that while the chest area of an average person emits only 20 photons of light per second, someone who meditates on their heart center and sends love and light to others emits an amazing 100,000 photons per second. That is 5000 times more than the average human being. Numerous studies have also shown that when these photons are infused with a loving and healing intent, their frequency and vibration increases to the point where they can literally change matter, heal disease, and transform negative events. The Heart also Loves, feels, thinks and remembers and communicates with other Hearts. It stores information and continually with each beat pulses this information through the body. It is far more than what modern science would have you believe. It is also a pump that pumps the cellular symphony that is the very essence of your being and it is a magnetic and radiating vortex and the true source of human power. See more

23.01.2022 Placenta Rituals Across Cultures ~ . The Baganda of Uganda believe that the placenta is actually a second child. Not only is it the child’s double, but the pla...centa also has its own spirit that resides in the umbilical cord. The portion of the cord attached to the baby must be carefully preserved to ensure the good health of the child. . Borneo Sea Gypsies ~ After the mother has given birth, a traditional midwife will carry the placenta and umbilical cord to the shore, and will perform a burial ritual on the island. The bajau believe that throwing the placenta to the sea will bring misfortune and bad luck. The sea is a sacred place for the Bajau and according to their belief if they will throw it at sea the fish will eat it and then they will eat it. This will brings bad luck. . Peru ~ Legend has it that Inca Yupanqui built a palace to house a gold statue of his mother Mama Rawa Occlo. Inside it he placed the placenta from his own birth. The Incas of Peru would dry out the umbilical cord and give it to the child to chew on later on while teething. Hawaii ~ Native Hawaiians treat the placenta as a sacred part of the baby. When it is buried in nature, a tree is planted over it so it grows with the child. . China ~ The Chinese are big believers in the restorative powers of eating the placenta. Ziheche dried human placenta, is used in traditional Chinese medicine and consumed by the mother right up until menopause. . New Zealand ~ ‘Whenua', the Maori word for placenta, is also the word for 'land'. Maori people insist that the placenta and umbilical cord are buried together in a special receptacle on the child's native land, creating a special relationship between the newborn baby and the earth. . Cambodia ~ Cambodian people believe that burying the placenta is key to ensuring the health of the baby and its mother in the future. It is wrapped in banana leaves and kept near the baby for three days before a burial ceremony. . 17.01.2022 "Before this century, newborns found themselves in the hands of women: mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and midwives, but in the 20th century, infants collided hea...d-on with physicians, typically male physicians. In the collision, infant senses, emotions, and cognitions were usually ignored. Doctors eventually gave serious attention to the pain of mothers but not to the pain of infants. Pediatricians and obstetricians created painful routines which continue today." From: Excerpts from "Babies Don't Feel Pain: A Century of Denial in Medicine" by David B. 17.01.2022 When a lot of parents and other carers have been up for some or most of the night I am grateful to be able to walk down the local park this morning with only the noise of the birds to greet me. And a pesky mossie who just sat on my screen. If you are a parent with babies or infants that don’t sleep well and have had some overwhelming experiences so far and need some help check out my Facebook page. There is always hope .

16.01.2022 I totally get this feeling of threat. My mum had the flu when I was born, so my nervous system picked up on her system’s activation. This was the start of my early trauma. It would of sucked to try to give birth when you are full of the flu, and where all you want to do is to be left alone and crawlback under the sheets. My birth was one where I struggled to breathe, so my nervous system had to been switched on to full ‘fight’ mode, so I could survive. ... I was separated from my ‘infectious’ mum with no bonding for at least 2 days being hooked up with tubes to clear my head of mucous. She was of course worried that there was something wrong with me. I learnt very quickly I was alone with support from others was something I could not rely on. I had to do it for myself. My body has been amazing in ‘fight’ mode, fighting to survive over many years. As a young adult, it felt like going to war whenever I played waterpolo. I pushed myself into the national team and was selected as one of the eleven best players in the world. Then I helped push the boundaries for women to play in the Olympics and to get woman the right to coach at a elite level in a male dominated sport. Then there’s the self medication of alcohol, sex and other stuff - this medication was how I numbed out the trauma and pain. Then a very high dose of perfectionism, just added to my story. I was given a warning with a small aneurism in my neck in my early 40’s, so I slowed down for a few years. However it didn’t take long before I attracted a very stressful life. Then five years ago my body’s intelligence shut down my body. I lost all my energy, my identify of who I was and my income. I have been involved In a lot of healing work since then, especially biodynamic craniosacral therapy and work with my peri and pre natal embodiment therapis. As a 63 year old I have only just recently integrated this trauma. Now I can breathe. I do not feel that push inside of me to keep doing. I am starting to be aware of the things that I used to do, that kept me in that well known activation space. I am starting to have deep restful sleeps. The healing of trauma is not a push button fix. It is a journey................ I am so grateful I now have skills to help those little ones in utero, babies, children and adults who use my services. My healed trauma allows my clients an even safer place for their body mind and spirit to land. A place that transcends the ego mind so they can experience deep healing. This integrates trauma and experiences into a new vital way of being.

16.01.2022 Over the past week I have been really listening to my body, mind and spirit and honouring it. I have felt a bit out of whack however I know that feelings can bubble up and when given some presence and space and loving kindness, they then shall pass. I awoke before my alarm and headed for the beach where I was welcomed with a rainbow to start my day.

15.01.2022 A little bit of advise - when your children are testing you- count out loud from 10 to 1. Slowing the count down until to get to 1 and then breath into your feet. It really works and grounds you and gives them space as well. Try it and let me know how it works for you. You may need to do it several times at day.

14.01.2022 Take breathing breaks. I was just saying to a client how if you take a few moments to breathe how different our day and our nervous system would feel. Before I drive my car or get out of it I take a breathing break. Finish a task and take a breathing break. Such a simple thing will stop you from feeling you have been on the go all day.

06.01.2022 Crawling Don’t let baby skip this step! . If you have a baby, don’t rush through crawling. It’s SO important! . Feeding benefits of crawling include:... Postural stability: to keep baby upright and well-supported to control, chew, and swallow solids Shoulder stability: to give a good foundation for advancing jaw and tongue movement Bilateral coordination: to teach baby to use both sides of the body equally Hand and finger strength: to develop fine motor skills for self-feeding Tactile input to hands: just think how many textures your baby feels with her hands while crawling . Anyone you know skip crawling? Do you see this same trend? OT is SO important for feeding!! 06.01.2022 How amazing is the body’s Intelligence when before we are born.

05.01.2022 Words from one of my biodynamic craniosacral teachers. If you have had overwhelming or trauma this therapy is profound. We acknowledge the body intelligence and give it a safe, grounded and spacious space to be heard.

05.01.2022 Clinginess has an important job to do, and it does it beautifully, but not always at a time when it’s needed. This is when it can be distressing for everyone - ...not just for kiddos but also for the adults who care about them. There is nothing that feels okay about leaving them when they are upset, but clinginess as isn’t a sign that they can’t cope. It’s a sign that, in the moment, getting over the line feels tough. Clinginess is a powerful response that is designed to move kids closer to their important people when they are feeling the threat of something new, stressful, challenging, or when being without you just makes things feel too big for a while. It’s designed to keep them safe. The problem is that it can happen when there is no threat. Our response will depend on the situation. If their anxiety is triggered because of the move towards something important or meaningful, give them a cuddle then a quick goodbye. They’ll settle quickly (probably quicker than you!) but they need you to be their brave. Make sure whenever you can that there is another adult there whose care they can rest in - someone who can help them feel safe enough so they can be brave enough. If their anxiety is because their world feels shaken, hold them, cuddle them, and sit with them as much as they need you to and as much as you can. When their world feels fragile, you can’t love them big enough. Give them as much as they need. Physical closeness, warmth, and touch release oxytocin. Oxytocin is the ‘bonding chemical’ and it’s released when we feel close to our important people. Here’s the magical part the amygdala has receptors for oxytocin. When the amygdala receives a juicy dose of oxytocin, it will calm. . The main thing to remember is that clinginess is a sign that they are feeling vulnerable, not that they aren’t capable of doing the important, meaningful things they need to do sometimes. They will BE ready before they FEEL ready. The hard part for us as parents is figuring out when to keep them close, and when to encourage them forward. The question to ask then is, ‘Do I need to help them find their brave, or do I need to help them find a soft place to shelter for a while?’

05.01.2022 An important read.
