23.01.2022 Many recent research studies have demonstrated the significant benefits of sleeping outside and spending increased periods of time outdoors. For example, children have better brain development, bone and muscular development, social and cognitive development, better emotional wellbeing and reported less illness. Our children love the experience and we have found that they even wake up fresher.

23.01.2022 Thankyou to everyone that donated. We raised over $800 for this great cause.

23.01.2022 Our sleep room at Cranley building is perfect for the exploration of dark and light! Introducing this new learning space to the children, I shared the premise with them explorers.when we enter the dark room, we are explorers The environment as the third teacher As educators it was wonderful to observe the awe and wonder the children displayed as they began to explore. Discovering lights, battery operated tea candles, projected kaleidoscope images, cubby and tent hidey-holes and a collection of reflective materials. Capturing childrens voice about these discoveries showed us again how providing open ended resources supports childrens learning in entering into play at differing levels as children explore and shared a variety of discoveries. @ Cranley House Nursery School and ELC

Mud play provides valuable opportunities for children to practice and develop their fine and gross motor skills, support increased sensory awareness -particularly touch, improve hand-eye coordination and develop their social and emotional skills -including taking turns, communication, as well as early literacy and numeracy skills. @ Cranley House Nursery School and ELC

20.01.2022 The Early Years Learning Framework places a high emphasis on learning through play: Play provides a supportive environment where children ask questions, solve problems and engage in critical thinking.Play can promote positive dispositions towards learning. Our learning environments at Cranley House provide a balance between child led, child initiated and educator supported learning. They encourage children to explore, solve problems, create and construct; whilst also actively supporting the inclusion of all children in play. @ Cranley House Nursery School and ELC

14.01.2022 The Toddlers celebrated the Lunar New Year. Reflecting the cultures of our classroom, the Lunar New Year is celebrated across many countries including China, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Taiwan. During the new year period, certain dishes are eaten for their symbolic meaning, specific types of noodles (which imply longevity and happiness) and dumplings (indicating prosperity). We made our own dumplings and practiced our skills in using chopsticks in our Asian inspired socio-dramatic play corner.
