17.01.2022 Our little Red-necked Crake is back, this time with a youngster following. I only saw glimpses of the chick/fledgling and got even less footage. I heard a lot... of weird gutteral calling. The crake enjoyed a good bath at the pond, with the youngster hiding in the undergrowth. Thank you to our guests who did well to spot them. I could hear their very loud munching (that's the only reason I spotted them, because they are very well camouflaged)! See more

13.01.2022 Cute little striped possum came by last night for a snack. This guy is John's "little mate" - a real sweetie.

12.01.2022 Love the Eastern Whipbirds. There are about 3 pairs around at the cottages at the moment and one pair is already feeding a baby! Here is a video showing a male... calling and female responding. Calls 1-3 are unanswered. Calls 4 and 5 are responded to by a female close by. They are the same pair. I recorded these on my phone in the space of about half an hour. See more

12.01.2022 I went for a drive on the weekend and got some good views of a couple of Peregrine Falcons interacting with each other. When in a dive these falcons are the fastest animals on earth, clocking over 320 km per hour!

11.01.2022 The juvenile male Victoria’s Riflebirds are being silly. Dancing together at any opportunity. See this guy get stuck on a vine and keep on dancing!

11.01.2022 I have been hearing the Tooth-billed Bowerbirds a lot lately but today I got to see them. There were 3 feeding in a tree and a 2 singing above the cottages about 30m apart. In the video you can see him listening intently between episodes of mimicry.

08.01.2022 Say hello to splotch. He didn't moult into the perfect deep black feathers like his friends instead he has lovely splotches of brown. I wonder if the ladies will like him? Perhaps he will keep moulting? I will keep my eye on him.

07.01.2022 The male Victoria's Riflebirds are enthusiastically showing off all over the place though the females are not paying very much attention. Meanwhile a Grey-heade...d Robin sits quietly on a nest constructed on the notorious wait-a-while vine. The nest is close to a cabin so I was able to photograph from a window without disturbing the bird. See more
