25.01.2022 Esperance veterinarian Dr Rob Howlett and his wife Steph had a dream introduction into the racing industry when there 4y old mare God's Blue Skye won the Thelma Jones Memorial Maiden in Esperance on Saturday at her first race start. The mare is the first horse that the couple have ever bred or owned. God's Blue Skye was broken in and educated by Esperance trainer Jo Offen and she was rewarded with her first winner as a trainer.

25.01.2022 Dave Sheehan announces his retirement from calling TAB races. After a lot of consideration over the past few months, Ive decided to retire from race calling at TAB tracks after the final meeting of the season in Kalgoorlie on October 31. I called my first race 39 years ago and have loved my career as a caller, but feel it's time to hang up the binoculars while I'm still calling well.

24.01.2022 TICKETS GOING, GOING... The Mt Magnet races are on this Saturday and tickets are selling like hotcakes. Race Club president Debbie Dowden says they'd sold out ...of 500 tickets online and hastily applied for an increased capacity. The best meeting we’ve had lately we had 450 through the gate, now we’ve already sold 500 of our online tickets," She said. "We’ve just been able to write a quick COVID plan so we’re able to have more than 500 but we’ve got a crowd limit of 700. "It looks like we’re going to exceed that number and there might be people who can’t get into the races if they haven’t bought a ticket. 12.01.2022 The Western Australian Racing Industry has not had any funding from the Labor State Government since it was elected. The previous Liberal/National government had an infrastructure fund from Royalties for Regions to ensure that our clubs were able to provide a safe environment for our participants.With the election coming up next year it appears that the government are going around handing out money and I would recommend that the government announce an infrastructure policy for ongoing funding for infrastructure to ensure that our race club are able to provide a safe environment for our participants. If this is not done a number of our community race clubs in WA will be forced to close. I would encourage all racing enthusiasts to lobby their local members of parliament to support our industry.

09.01.2022 RWWA has today launched its Off the Track WA Estate and Off the Track WA Retraining Program. The Estate will be used to facilitate the retraining of retired rac...ehorses, as well as host clinics and events to further support owners transitioning their retired racehorses to equestrian and pleasure pursuits. The Estate will also ensure sufficient space is available at all times for any emergency welfare cases, should they arise. The Off the Track WA Retraining Program encompasses the Estate and a network of Official Retrainers, who provide retired racehorses with the necessary skills and experiences needed to transition from racing to their second career.
