25.01.2022 Here’s a blast from my past - taken during my time as a medic in the reserves. My training has served me well over the years, especially during this past year. Can you pick me out?
24.01.2022 The information on the DHHS website is underwhelming. There is next to nothing about how to support your immune system, healthy eating, getting regular exercise, mental health even something as simple as getting in a routine and emotional health. I asked the Minister for Health if the DHHS will develop holistic resources for the community to use for prevention and treatment of COVID?

21.01.2022 I encourage local organisations working on improving social connection, physical activity or food security to apply in the $2.5million VicHealth grant round to support the health and wellbeing of Victorians hardest hit by coronavirus. https://bit.ly/327m4QF
20.01.2022 Findings released by The Crime Statistics Agency paint a worrying picture of the impact COVID-19 has had on rates of family violence: - The number of family violence incidents increased by 11.7% between April-June 2020 compared to the same period in 2019 - Women aged 30-34 were most often recorded as victim-survivors in the April-June 2020 time period ... - Males aged 35-39 made up the biggest demographic group of family violence perpetrators - June 2020 saw the biggest monthly increase in family violence from 2019-20
20.01.2022 Im lost for words
20.01.2022 Today is International Day of Clean Air for blue skies and we definitely have blue skies across #Melbourne today. Back in February, with a unanimous decision, the government agreed to an urgent inquiry into air quality. You may not be aware, but 24% of our national population are exposed to unacceptable levels of air pollution. ... To put this into perspective the population of countries with a similar GDP, such as New Zealand and Canada, are exposed to 0% of unacceptable levels of air pollution - and the USA just 3.3 percent. I was alarmed to learn that in the West Metropolitan Region, we have the highest number of hospital admissions for respiratory ailments in Victoria for young people aged 3 to 19. The rate is 70% above the state average and up to 171% above the Australian average. I was also given access to unpublished research, soon to be released, showing that compared to other areas across metropolitan Melbourne we have some of highest hospital admissions for respiratory diseases, stroke, hypertension and heart failure diseases research strongly links to air pollution. Perhaps most surprisingly the area where this occurs is mainly young families, and these are diseases that usually present later in life. Through this inquiry, I am seeking an achievable and practical approach together with long-term future planning and believe this would lead to improved health and well-being outcomes for all Victorians, with a focus on the areas like those in the west that experience some of the worst air pollution. To stay posted on the inquiry as it unfolds by heading to https://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/epc/inquiries/inquiry/994

18.01.2022 This week, I asked the Minister for Health. Why is there virtually no information on DHHSs website regarding how someone can cope with, and recover, from COVID?

11.01.2022 Today is #RUOKDay. In this time when we are facing challenges, its important that we all ask that important question of those around us. But theres more to say after R U OK? Ask, then listen, encourage action and check in because a conversation could change a life. Learn what to say after R U OK? at www.ruok.org.au #theresmoretosay
11.01.2022 As it currently stands a young person residing in #HobsonsBay is required to travel up to 2 hours on public transport to access a headspace centre in Werribee or Sunshine. In 201516 the rate of mental health inpatient admissions for 10 to 17-year-olds was significantly higher in Hobsons Bay than across the state. A more recent, 201718, study from Deakin University found a high prevalence of depression symptoms across Hobsons Bay primary and secondary school students.... On behalf of Hobsons Bay City Council, I called on the state government to provide funding to support the establishment of a Headspace in Newport Community Hub. #newportcommunityhub Hobsons Bay Libraries Hobsons Bay UP
11.01.2022 Test Track Trace Test. Contact tracing has been woeful. That is the reason why we are in lockdown.
10.01.2022 Last night was a marathon session of Parliament. In the early hours of this morning, the extension to the State of Emergency was passed by the Legislative Council by one vote. To say I am disappointed by the outcome is an understatement. To see other MPs use this as a political football and not listen to their community members is also disappointing. To be gagged from being able to ask the questions that you sent in to me, that you and I wanted the answers to, is appalling. Now the Independents and Opposition have to fight to get some scrutiny over the governments decision making. Heres what I had to say last night
09.01.2022 A pregnant woman needs to protect her pregnant belly and should never be hand cuffed behind her back. I hope police change their procedures in these circumstances forever.

06.01.2022 While I was in Parliament this week. #legacybear was kind enough to help out in the office, answering phones. Check out what else Legacy Bear got up to in the images below. Melbourne Legacy currently supports over 4700 people, all of whom are part of a family that has been touched by a loved ones service to our country.

04.01.2022 Sporting teams such as the Druids Cricket Club want to get back to doing what they love, after months of lockdown. This week, I asked the Minister for Health whether the COVID testing in Shorten Reserve in West Footscray could be moved to the empty Footscray Hospital car park or the Victoria University car park? Community testing is part of our COVID normal and likely to go on for months. ... More thought needs to be given to how this impacts our community.

03.01.2022 Lets support Catherine by liking her page and sending her a message of gratitude - https://www.facebook.com/crcumming1 Catherine Cumming MP is a crossbencher w...hich means her vote is VERY important. She is clearly a genuine, down-to-earth person who understands the value of democracy and freedom. She is on our side! Members, I need you to remain optimistic about tomorrows Parliament sitting. We need all the positive energy we can muster. I know it seems that weve been losing here in Victoria over and over again lately, but maybe its time for a win!!! I will update you all tomorrow as soon as I know anything.
01.01.2022 Current mood... freedom is my focus. Crank it up loud!
01.01.2022 Thank you for your service to our wonderful world. Let us all strive for peace and understanding. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. As the world welcomed peace, thousands returned home to much fanfare, and their loved ones. Thousands more never made the journey home. Today in parliament, on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we will pause to remember those men and women who fought and died in the line of duty to keep us free.
01.01.2022 This week, I asked the Minister for Roads to seek a funding commitment for the Ballan Rd duplication prior to the Strategic Extractive Resource Areas pilot project known as SERA being implemented. Watch this space for the response.
