08.01.2022 I haven't chimed in much on the mayhem that has swept the US and captivated the world. Being part of a mixed race family its not a topic that can be avoided no matter what an individuals views are on the topic and the current struggle. Growing up in Australia means i have been privileged to not be faced with the same level of inequalities as many have in multiple parts of the world. Does that give me a reason or right to turn a blind eye to the struggles of so many that look ...like me. The more the conversation is had the more I realise it touches me and in fact will one day touch my kids. So Im posting a recent conversation between myself and their mother after she shared a particular video on priviledge as she best equips herself with all the knowledge and power she can to care for the two most beautiful beings in our lives. Each point was based on a personal experience. Even after writing more incidents came to mind. For me as the kids grow and read and learn about events in our history such as this, it will be about being informed rather than influencing their minds with my perceptions as they need to be empowered to come to the own conclusions about the world.
