02.01.2022 I'm sure many can relate when I say "I had a light bulb moment" I've finally realised that self care = time for change! Anyone who knows me.. Knows I am often referred to as generous Gill as I offer my time among other things to others before myself. I was that girl at school who was into fitness and prided herself on it. I was that girl until serious health issues hit in my early 20s which impacted my life for good. I was that size 8 girl who turned into the plus size gir...l over night experiencing serious body changes and weight gain due to a tumor on the pituitary gland and other health issues. Fast forward twenty years..a tumour, thyroid disease and additional health ailments, a busy corporate career in relative senior positions and still putting others before myself. Many of my current direct reports have been telling me I have to stop looking after everyone else and start looking after myself as they know the long hours I work and was often looking tired and drained! Finally After hearing this a number of times from people in my life who mattered along with additional health complications I have decided to listen and put self care into action. This July I will embarking on 30 days to healthy living to kick start my ongoing journey. I hope you will all support me during my highs and lows during this time I hope my raw vulnerability will inspire at least one person to make the necessary changes towards self care.
