25.01.2022 Check this out! What a fantastic initiative! "Studio A Health and Fitness are offering an 8 week Term 4 school program of exercise classes for kids with a disability. The program is suitable for children with developmental disabilities wishing to participate in a program specifically tailored to their individual needs. The program not only encourages a fit and active lifestyle, but focuses on increasing confidence and brain development exercises (training fine and gross motor... skills). 25.01.2022 Such a long day of back to back meetings!! This one in particular was full of laughs and yarns about all things related to Aged Care within the NDIS. It was so good to finally put a face to a name with Jo Pipe and to meet Cathy who is a Cairns local and is new to NDIA Planning for NDIS participants in Aged Care. Discussions were had about how we are currently supporting our clients in Aged Care as well as how and where to from here in regards to supporting current clients to... move out and into Supported Independent Living (SIL) or Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) homes. I love the passion these two ladies brought to the semi-virtual meeting room and I am so excited at the prospective changes for our clients ahead! If you aren't already aware, the Australian Government has vowed that no young person will enter Aged Care after 2022 and no current Young Person in Residential Aged Care will reside in these facilities after 2025 (unless they choose to stay). There is a real push to have people living where they would most happy - in their own home or in a shared space by request. This will allow people to have more control over where they live and who they live with. In the meantime, Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) is being added to Plans where the person has identified that they would like to exit Aged Care and are waiting for a place to be built or become available (pending eligibility). Today marks a special day in more than one way. I had the opportunity to have a yarn with Trendy Trev this morning from Bumma Bippera Media about what we offer in the NDIS space as well as where we are heading. As I explained the Trevor today; the last time I had an opportunity to speak on live radio was on the 5th July 2019 when I was interviewed by the late, great and very beautiful Aunty Evelyn Levi-Lowah at the NAIDOC Family Day at Fogarty Park. To be interviewed again on another significant day for us at Creative Consulting is awesome. I don't believe in coincidences so this was an awesome milestone to be able to share live. I remember when my daughter Ketura was only very young and my Mum Sandra asked Aunty Evelyn to say hello to Ketura on the radio which she was more than happy to do... and Ketura almost burst out of her skin with excitement. Ketura was quite young then and is now 22 so it was some time ago Today also marks Day 1 of Creative Consulting transitioning to a company structure. Gone are the days of being a Sole Trader and hello to the corporate world! My daughter Ketura Houghton has partnered with me to bring about necessary change into the direction and purpose of Creative Consulting Pty Ltd and we hope that we will continue to serve our clients and the greater community in Far North Queensland faithfully for many years to come. Each person brings with them skills, experience and a life time of knowledge around supporting individuals who need it most - and the best thing is, we get to support them to realise their dreams! 03.01.2022 Such is the life of SUPERMODELS.... 2 weeks ago we were given an opportunity to pose for future NDIS Indigenous resources. It was a collab between Creative Consulting and 33Creative (for this region only) which was fun to do. Do you know how difficult it is to sit and stare into each others eyes without cracking up? hahaha Big thank you to brother Chris Cavanagh for nominating Creative Consulting to take part and for 33Creative for the opportunity. We had a lot of fun b...ut reckon we would be best not to give up our day jobs Also a shout out to Carmal Dorante for allowing us to shoot at Hollingsworth Elders Village and to the lovely ladies at AidaCare (formerly Walk on Wheels) for going above and beyond *as you both always do!!!* for letting us make AidaCare our location of choice that day. Annette and Jade you both rock - and you know this :) The talented photographer for the sessions was local lady Peggy Kasabad Lane who made everyone feel very comfortable and was very professional in guiding the shoot.
