24.01.2022 Creswick Lions Club Two Bob Auction is only 2 weeks away. To ensure your seat, tickets must be pre-booked because of catering requirements. Contact details below. If you are wondering how the night works; Participants buy sheets of tickets that bear the same unique number and come with a stub that is retained for the door prize. The participant ‘bids’ for desired items by placing as many tickets as they want in a box numbered to correspond with the prize. The more tickets ...entered, the higher the chance of winning. A ticket is drawn from the box like a raffle determining the winner. There are over 100 prizes, and all are new no 2nd hand items. The Two Bob auction is fun for all ages and the Creswick Lions Club have done a tremendous job in getting together over 100 prizes. Creswick Lions would like to thank the local businesses in Creswick and District and Ballarat for their generosity by way of donation of prizes, which will help to make this a wonderful event. Creswick's Baby George Davidson is battling Neuroblasoma which is a childhood cancer found almost exclusively in children under five. He is currently in hospital. 17.01.2022 CDN article Creswick Lions Club In November, we inducted a new member to our club, as well as celebrating two extra special milestone birthdays with members Max Ainley and Ken Fitzsimons. We have been busy helping to man the show gates at the Ballarat show and serving up sausages and egg and bacon sandwiches at the monthly Creswick market. Look out for Lions members undertaking front of house duties at the Creswick Theatre Company’s Christmas production Miracle on 34th S...treet, A live Musical Radio Play’. We have started to distribute our yummy Lions Christmas cakes to businesses around the district. Our Christmas Cakes are available at the following outlets around Creswick and District: Bendigo Bank, Australia Post, Greenvale meats, Flemo’s, John Curtin Aged Care, Smeaton Pub, Clunes Medical Centre and Clunes Newsagency. And of course, you can always pick one up from our stall at the market. Further ahead, we have been allocated two fundraising BBQs at Bunnings, Creswick Road, Ballarat on Monday 23rd December and Sunday 5th January. These are always busy days but a great fundraising opportunity, so if you need to grab something at Bunnings, tie it in on one of these two days and grab a snag (onions underneath) on your way out. If any of this sounds like something you’d like to be involved in, come up and say hi at the Creswick Market and come along to a meeting or two to see if Lions is something you’d really like to join.

15.01.2022 The Creswick Lions is again running a Two Bob Auction as its major fundraiser on Saturday 2 May. Our first Two Bob Auction was held in October 2018 and it was a resounding success, where everyone had a great night. Tickets are $25 per head comprising gourmet finger food dinner including dessert, and complimentary drink on arrival. The venue is licensed and drinks are available at bar prices. There will be around 100 prizes for the Two Bob Auction - buy sheets of 20 tickets for $4 (two bob per ticket) and place as many tickets as you wish in the containers corresponding to the prize you want to win. Hurry as seats will fill fast.

15.01.2022 CDN article Creswick Lions Club January provided Lions members with a bit of down time, but a couple of activities still kept them busy. We had a very successful day at the January market and a lot of fun giving a hand at the Australia Day breakfast. Lion Pat Tacey is to be commended on doing a terrific job in taking the lead to organise the breakfast. We would like to thank Pat and all other volunteers from Lions and other community groups for taking the time to collect... and deliver supplies, cook, serve and mingle with those who came along to enjoy the event. We would like to acknowledge the valuable contribution of Lorraine Ainley to Creswick Lions and the wider community. Lorraine was presented with a 35-year pin of service at our Christmas dinner. Great work Lorraine a tremendous effort giving of your time to support the community for so many years. In May each year we distribute funds collected from our fundraising activities to various community groups and organisations. Once again, we would like to invite organisations or individuals requesting financial assistance to write a short submission outlining the project, cause or event they would like us to assist with, outlining proposed costs and other sources of funding being sourced. Lions considers all submissions on their merits; however limited funds mean that not all proposals can be fulfilled. Written submissions will be received up until April 30th and should be posted to Creswick Lions Club, PO Box 55 Creswick or emailed to [email protected] Please contact Bernardette 0419 581 052, Peter (President) 0419 899 810 or Carolyn (Secretary) 0417 349 049 if you are interested in learning more about Lions. We meet on the 2nd Monday of each month. 13.01.2022 CDN article Creswick Lions Club It’s been a bit quiet on the Lions scene, with many of our members taking well deserved extended holidays over the colder months. We have still had the resources though to run our monthly BBQ at the Creswick market. Thanks to our members who braved the cold each month. I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of past and present members to extend a very big thank you to Lorraine Ainley who has been a member of the Creswick Lions Club... for over 36 years. Lorraine has recently resigned from Lions and her dedication to Lions will be genuinely missed. Lorraine was heavily involved over the years taking on several office bearer and leadership roles. She worked tremendously hard to help run the successful Monster Garage Sales each year. Well done Lorraine and all the very best for the future! We have recently had discussions with Hepburn Shire Council regarding improvements to Lions Park on Bridge Road. We received a grant from Leisure and Parks Victoria, and with an equal contribution from the Club, we hope to install some safety fencing, paint the toilet block and improve accessibility to and from Daylesford Road. If you think this project is something you’d like to be involved in, along with our numerous fundraising activities, please contact our President Peter Cowie on 0419 899 910 or Membership Chairperson Bernardette Tacey on 0419 326 052. Carolyn Gargiulo, Secretary Creswick Lions Club (0417 349 049).

04.01.2022 The Creswick Lions Club would like to thank everyone for their generosity and support today at our Bunnings BBQ in Ballarat. We managed to raise $1371.00 from sausage sales and $515.40 in the donation tin which included a $100 donation from one person. Many others donated and travelled to come and buy a snag. We will be donating $1900.00 to the Bushfire Appeal through the Bendigo Bank.... So some big thank you shoutouts firstly to our Firefighters and emergency services, volunteers and the ADF. Bunnings for allowing us to be able to raise the funds with the BBQ and you the community for supporting us.
