06.01.2022 Have you figured out what YOUR ideal conditions for growth are? I shared on my story today a great post from @nourishednatasha about how health can look very different. One day choosing pizza over salad is a better choice and the next - choosing exercise over rest is the best you can do for your health... This applies for self-care and growth too, and it’s something I want to try and make more evident through my stories and the messages I share Yes I love yoga, meditation, exercise, self development books etc. all of which fall into the typical self-care and growth categories But I also LOVE lie-ins and binge watching Netflix So I want to try and show two things... that self-care rituals/routines are not a one-size-fits-all approach. Everyone responds to things differently and if sitting and trying to meditate for 10 minutes a day is stressing you out more than it is relaxing/benefitting you then it may not be the right tool for you (though I can vouch for going through that at the start haha and now I’m one of the biggest advocates!) Self-care can look wildly different from one day to the next or even one hour to the next. Like Natasha’s post - one day, staying in bed all day and crying might be exactly what you need and then next day hiking up a mountain might be the most nourishing Neither is better than the other It’s about finding the balance of what works for YOU I feel like caring for plants is the perfect analogy Every single plant is different, a one-size-fits-all approach will leave most plants wilting and malnourished For them to TRULY flourish we need to treat them all individually. Each requires different quantities of sun and specific amounts of watering etc. And although Instagram (mine included) may seem like it’s saying THIS is what self-care looks like We each have to listen to our bodies, our minds and figure out what works best for us AND I have to accept that no matter how much I want to fill my office (wellness studio) with cacti ... they need a lot more sun than that room can offer So I should probs listen and give them exactly what they need to flourish See more
