21.01.2022 These old time drain covers did a sterling job over the years but Council has replaced the old covers with a modern type of cover manufactured in our city by Terra Firma Industries in Campbellfield, employing local workers.

21.01.2022 Young families are happy with the recreational facilities and parks we have been creating and maintaining but they are also concerned for their future in these unprecedented times. My vision for our suburbs and our municipality is for residents to have better access to employment opportunities, housing and facilities that other parts of Melbourne enjoy.

21.01.2022 Gemma the wonderdog finds issues in our neighbourhood and says lets call councillor Karen Sherry, shes working to fix these things, like the missing piece from this bench.

20.01.2022 RE-OPENING OF LOCAL PLAYGROUNDS ON MONDAY In line with the Victorian State Government COVID-19 easing of restrictions around exercise and play which will come into effect on Monday 14 September 2020. Councils Parks Department is undertaking works in preparation. This entails the removal of parawebbing and unlocking of play equipment to allow deep cleaning. It includes high pressure washing of both play and exercise equipment to remove dust and bird detritus. ... Importantly, playspace and exercise equipment is not available for use by the public until Monday 14th September. Signage remains in place to advise residents that the equipment is not to be used. Council has 320 playspace sites and various exercise equipment stations. The deep cleaning may take some time given the number of sites to be attended to that have playspace and exercise equipment stations. In line with Victorian State Government Stage 4 lockdown restrictions, dog parks, skate parks, tennis courts, basketball backcourts will remain closed. Of course, the many hundreds of kilometres of walking trails, bike tracks, open space, off lead dog area remain open to the public during the Stage 4 lockdown and are available. Residents will be able to visit and enjoy these facilities for 2 hours daily as of next Monday.

Impacted suburbs in our community include Attwood, Craigieburn, Greenvale, Roxburgh Park, Westmeadows, Broadmeadows, Coolaroo, Dallas, Campbellfield, Somerton, and Meadow Heights. Yarra Valley Water advises you to bring tap water to a rolling boil before using for drinking, brushing your teeth, food preparation, preparing baby formula, making ice or bathing infants. https://www.3aw.com.au/do-not-drink-contaminated-water-war/

19.01.2022 Good news Attwood, Broadmeadows, Coolaroo, Meadow Heights, Dallas, Greenvale, Craigieburn, Somerton and Westmeadows. We don't have to boil our drinking water as of 9pm tonight.

19.01.2022 JobSeeker and JobKeeper have provided welcome relief for people who have been struggling for a long time on or below the poverty line income. I am asking for these payments to continue for longer, for areas that have been locked down. Article by Northern Star Weekly.

10.01.2022 Even though dog parks are closed as part of stage 4 restrictions, my sweet girl Gemma was excited to learn that we can still use off leash areas as long as your pet is not menacing and is under active voice control. 06.01.2022 At last night's Council meeting in response to the high rates of unemployment and uptake of jobseeker applications in our city since the start of the pandemic, I moved a resolution that we write to the Federal Ministers seeking an extension of current JobSeeker and JobKeeper payments at the current rate for suburbs that have been in extended lockdown. Those suburbs include Broadmeadows, Jacana, Dallas, Craigieburn, Mickleham, Donnybrook, Kalkallo and Roxburgh Park. We are asking the Federal Government to delay the tapering off of JobSeeker payments in September 2020 and to extend JobKeeper beyond March 2021.

04.01.2022 Does this building look familiar? When you have terrific community facilities like our Town Hall in Broadmeadows, they attract attention. In this case, our Town Hall caught the eye of an American-Australian production. Filmed partly in Hume City and coming to Netflix soon is the drama series Clickbait. Keep an eye out for it!

03.01.2022 A little light music to look forward to in 2021

02.01.2022 Gemma the wonder dog is on the case. She's asked me to post about her missing friend. The missing dog's family are very worried - phone 0412 176 756 if you have any news. Gemma also reported the graffiti on the bench. If you spot graffiti in your neighbourhood, let Council know.

02.01.2022 Have you ever spotted the mob of kangaroos at Broadmeadow Valley Park? How lucky are we to have a sight like this right on our doorstep?

01.01.2022 Great news! In line with DHHS advice received yesterday, Dog Parks in Hume will reopen today. Importantly and in line with the Victorian State Government COVID-19 Stage 4 restrictions, the dog parks will be open on the provision that the dog park MUST be in an area within 5 kilometres from a residents home. In Metropolitan Melbourne, patrons to a Hume Dog Park can only walk around the park by themselves, with members of their own household or with one other people. ... Everyone must keep away from other people by maintaining a physical distance of at least 1.5 metres and wear face masks. New signage is being printed and will be installed at the dog parks as soon as possible.
