16.01.2022 From Seymour College Inclusive Education Facilitator - Kerry McGahy: We have celebrated our successful completion of Project Ready - Certificate II in Active Volunteering! We had such a fun day out at the Avenel Maze. We all enjoyed searching for clues and learning facts about Ned Kelly in the mazes. It was wonderful to see amazing young people run around and work together to complete the maze activities. ... We had much to celebrate in this strange old year. I cannot emphasis enough how well these students have navigated themselves through this year. So many changes and challenges. Students have completed SWL and the feedback that has been received on their performance is outstanding. I hope all students and families are proud of what each of these young people have achieved, I know I am. We developed a wonderful relationship with the Salvation Army and their volunteers. In our appreciation CRLLEN donated a picnic table to the staff and volunteers at the Salvation Army. This project was part of SWL for three students, who made a fantastic and very sturdy picnic table, I am sure many cup of teas will be had at that table. Students have learnt many skills that will help equip them in the next few years as the transition from school to the workforce or volunteering. I have full confidence that each student has the ability and potential to contribute to the community in a paid or volunteer capacity. This course is run differently to other VET courses and it takes many people to make it happen. I would like to thank everyone involved for going beyond to do extra organising to ensure these students have as many options/opportunities as possible. Thank you to Seymour College and CRLLEN for working together to provide this great opportunity for these (and other) students.

05.01.2022 Last Friday was a proud day for Gisborne #ProjectReady. We delivered our first lot of 'You are not Alone' letters to The Oaks Aged Care Facility in Gisborne, as part of our community project. Students Tamiah and Grace came along during their school holidays to help deliver the letters to The Oaks. Gisborne Project Ready partnered with Rotary Club of Macedon Ranges in this great enterprise and helped students write letters telling the residents about themselves, what they like... to do, their favourite things and their families. The students also included photos. These letters were then printed on bright paper and laminated, so they can be wiped clean and shared with other residents. The Manager of The Oaks was so grateful for the time given to ensure that those in our community, who have not been able to have visitors for such a long time, did not feel forgotten. The students took great joy in writing to them. Project Ready facilitator Jane Williams said, I am so proud of my Gisborne Project Ready clan for giving back to their community and showing kindness and compassion. They are all amazing. See more

01.01.2022 What's it like being a #ProjectReady Facilitator? Here are Hope's reflections on the program: "Project Ready was an opportunity that I'm so privileged to be offered and the pride and sense of accomplishment I feel to be a part of this program and work with these students is something I am very thankful for. It's challenging, fun and incredibly inspiring to work with students from a range of backgrounds and experiences and see them grow in confidence and skills and feel comfortable and supported enough to share some of their most personal stories. As a facilitator, I've witnessed 'my' students mature and develop ideas and skills to put towards their future. I have helped then gain an important understanding about themselves and what makes them tick and I couldn't be more proud and thankful to be a part of something so special."
