14.01.2022 Coastal Facilities Advisory Committee today with City staff and stakeholders who provide input and advice into the development, implementation and performance of the Citys Coastal Facilities Strategy. With 37km of coastline and a very active boating community the City places high importance on maintenence and investment in the infrastructure provided. Todays meeting covered ... projects and maintenance updates of our many boat ramps and capital projects 2020/21 including Point Peron Spur Groyne, Mersey Point Seawall and dredging. Also discussed was the new Coastal Facilities strategy questionnaire which has had over 400 responses. If you missed out dont worry you will be able to comment on the draft strategy early next year. Marine safety updates were provided by key stakeholders Marine Rescue Rockingham, DBCA and Dept of Primary Industries. Key takeways were keeping to boat speed limits in the marine park and keeping cray pots lead lines clear. Discussions also considered the report from Murdoch University about our declining Fairy Penguin population. Next meeting is in Februray 2021.
