23.01.2022 Claudia Lewin and Tim Lethbridge had a fantastic weekend in Bali at the Piddington Bali Conference 2019! We caught up with old friends, made new ones, and found some time in between all of that to learn something as well. Looking forward to next year already!

22.01.2022 We are excited to announce that Croftbridge has grown again - Dianna Boulat has joined us as a law graduate!

21.01.2022 Attended a talk this morning from two NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration scientists regarding, amongst other things, the search for extraterrestrial life - hosted by FLUX. Fascinating stuff!

20.01.2022 Christmas drinks with some of our favourite colleagues in law

20.01.2022 We are now a proud sponsor of Swimming WA: https://wa.swimming.org.au//emerging-legal-firm-croftbridg To celebrate, Tim Lethbridge was up ridiculously early this morning to make his way down to the Open Water Swimming event at Sorrento. Well done to everyone who competed (and to those of us who watched, with bleary eyes and strong coffee).

20.01.2022 Usually Tim Lethbridge goes missing for a few weeks every four years in July. Its because hes one of those mad soccer fans that get up at all hours of the morning to watch the FIFA World Cup. This year, Tim made the long trek to Russia to watch the Socceroos in person (and to sample a few Russian beers/vodkas). He ventured to Kazan, Samara and Sochi for the games, and squeezed in a trip to Moscow in between. Whilst Im sure Tim would still much prefer to be on holidays, Claudia Lewin and I are happy to have him back for some belated EOFY celebrations.

19.01.2022 While most of us were huddled up in the rain and cold of Perth, Elise Rewell was in the rain and slightly-less-cold of Ningaloo, bravely deciding to camp for two weeks with her one-year-old child. I am informed that he was perfectly behaved, slept well and in no way made Elise Rewell question her life choices.

16.01.2022 We’re tackling poverty feet first this November by taking part in Oxfam's Virtual Trailwalker. While much of the world is physically separated, we will be virtually supporting each other to trek local trails, wander the neighbourhood, stroll along the beach or stride through the local parks, racking up the kms to support Oxfam. We would be so grateful for any donation you are able to give. ... Your support will help end world poverty, funding Oxfam projects across the globe. As little as $35 can provide a hygiene kit to a family living in a refugee camp. To donate and see our progress check out our Oxfam Trailwalker page here: https://trailwalker.oxfam.org.au/croftbridge

16.01.2022 Croftbridge is proud to be a corporate partner of the Cancer Council Western Australia. This morning we attended the corporate partners breakfast and heard from Anthony Radich (GM Wildcats) and representatives of RAC, HBF and CCI(WA) with insights into the unique challenges faced by profit for purpose/member organisations.

16.01.2022 Attended the ALTA Perth Demo Day this morning - there is some really interesting software available, much of which has been developed in Australia, to improve the service lawyers can offer clients. Hopefully well be using it in the near future - stay tuned!

16.01.2022 On Wednesday Tim Lethbridge and Elise Croft started filming a pitch video for their Pleader software, a product that should make life easier for litigation lawyers. It was definitely a tad different to the court room! Well share the pitch very soon.

14.01.2022 Merry Christmas to all of our clients and colleagues. We hope you have a wonderful break.

13.01.2022 After a long gestation process, Pleader (or at least an early minimum viable product version) is finally being programmed! Reports so far are that React/React and Draft.js didnt work out so now were looking at a Django server with a simple API... so, clear as day! For more info: http://pleader.com.au/

13.01.2022 Claudia Lewin presented the Croftbridge Prize in Employment Law at the University of Notre Dame School of Laws St Thomas More Awards Night. Congratulations to joint winners Amara Hughes and James Roberts!

10.01.2022 Elise attended a Women Lawyers WA seminar on Family Provision Act claims and the new costs determination last night. Barrister Jessica Henderson and Registrar Sandra Boyle provided attendees with an insight into the difficulties associated with legal costs in estate matters, particularly involving small estates, and the new era of (warranted) scrutiny that will be placed on practitioners.

10.01.2022 Just a quick post to let everyone know that, despite Covid-19, the (metaphorical) doors remain open at Croftbridge. We are pledging to do all within our power to support our clients through this difficult time. Tim, Elise, Claudia and Dianna are here to help you if you need employment law, estates or general litigation advice. Since we opened our doors in 2016, we have had the technological capabilities to ensure we can: 1. meet with our clients via telephone or online confe...rencing platforms, and 2. solve our clients’ legal problems utilising the most current online legal resources. As such, working within the Covid-19 restrictions has created the least amount of disruption to our usual services. If you are an employee and you have been dismissed, we have an online tool that can streamline your enquiry with us (follow the prompts via: https://croftbridge.com.au//em/unfair-dismissal-employees/).

10.01.2022 Croftbridge is 3! We would like to thank our colleagues, clients, friends and family for all of their support. Were looking forward to more milestones to come.

10.01.2022 New website coming soon...

09.01.2022 We are pleased to introduce the newest member of our team, Sally Croft. Sally is known for her skills at negotiating difficult treat settlements and arguing tennis-ball related cases in the Supreme Court of WA. Feat. Elise Rewell

09.01.2022 When are 'casual' employees not casual after all? The Federal Court has recently handed down WorkPac v Rossato, which doubles-down on its previous decision of WorkPac v Skene, highlighting the complications that can arise where employees are engaged as casual workers (and paid casual loading accordingly) but where the reality of their employment is inconsistent with casual employment. Our article addresses the key points:... https://croftbridge.com.au/workpac-v-rossato-not-so-casual/

09.01.2022 I was honoured to be invited by Community Vision Inc., Perth, Western Australia. to the launch of A Roast to Remember, which aims to raise money for a community dementia bus to provide respite, education and peace of mind to those people living with dementia or caring for people living with dementia. If you would like to find out more - or even better, donate and/or participate - the website is: https://www.aroasttoremember.com.au/

09.01.2022 Tim braved the heat and took out the MDC Legal Tennis Competition this year, flying the Croftbridge flag! Great work Tim!

09.01.2022 While the rest of us were enjoying the sunshine, Claudia Lewin was taking part in the Practical Advocacy Weekend hosted by the The Law Society of Western Australia. It was an excellent opportunity to learn and practice advocacy and to receive constructive feedback from some of the best legal practitioners in WA.

08.01.2022 This week Elise had the privilege of chairing the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners presentation by Sally Bruce TEP. Sally discussed current issues affecting practitioners and clients making or defending claims pursuant to the Family Provision Act, ranging from new Supreme Court measures to curb excessive legal costs, to the difficulties currently faced by grandchildren claiming against their grandparents estate.

08.01.2022 Tim took some time out today, to watch the Aussies take on India in some freezing weather.

07.01.2022 Whilst his fellow director sat at home and ate pizza, Tim ran the 12km course at the City to Surf in just over 1:05. Great job Tim!

07.01.2022 While the rest of the Croftbridge team are back in the office after a relaxing Christmas and New Year, Dianna Boulat is doing her College of Law Practical Legal Training, taking her one step closer to becoming a fully fledged lawyer in 2020.

07.01.2022 Yesterday, Tim attended a workshop put on by Eating Disorders Families Australia (of which he is on the board) regarding TBT-S (Temperament Based Therapy with Support), which is a new treatment approach being offered in the USA for anorexia and which, hopefully, will soon also be offered in Australia. 04.01.2022 Congratulations to Elise Rewell for being voted by her peers as one of the Leading Wills & Estates Litigation Lawyers in the recent Doyles Guide - http://doylesguide.com/leading-wills-estates-litigation-la/

04.01.2022 With the assistance of Denise Rix, we worked on some photos for our new website design today. It reminded us how lucky we are to be on the doorstep of Kings Park. Stay tuned for our new website!

03.01.2022 If you are a lawyer who has prepared amended pleadings, you will immediately shudder at memories of grappling with your word processor to make it track changes properly, especially when multiple people are working on the same document. That is all on top of the trauma of managing forever-changing defined terms and paragraph referencing. Croftbridge has embarked on a side project to create software with a working title of Pleader - to overcome these issues. It is still i...n the early stages of development but we are keen to get the word out and, in particular, get your thoughts on the idea generally and take ideas on features that should be incorporated. If this sounds like something you could be interested in, have a look at the website www.pleader.com.au - fill out the short form at the bottom to provide feedback and, if you like, sign up for (very occasional) updates on our progress.

01.01.2022 We are nearly three years old so we thought it was a good time to update our website! www.croftbridge.com.au

01.01.2022 There is a complex mix of courts and tribunals available for employment law disputes, particularly in WA where State legislation still covers a significant portion of the workforce. We have created this Jurisdiction Tree in an attempt to provide an easy-to-follow overview of the options available in WA. We hope it can be helpful in providing a starting point to anyone faced with the prospect of a potential employment law dispute. Feel free to forward it on to anyone yo...u think may benefit from it. If you have any questions or suggestions, please give us a call or send us a message! The article on our website includes the hi-res PDF version: http://www.croftbridge.com.au/employment-law-jurisdiction-/
