25.01.2022 A great article from Cromwell alum Morgan "Tokio" Freney (2014-2015). She is in her first year of her PhD in virology at UQ. You can also follow her on Instagram for updates on their work with viruses, vaccines and COVID-19. https://www.instagram.com/virus.vs.labcoat/ #research #phd #science #vaccines #virology #viruses #uq #cromwellcollegeuq #crommieticker #COCA

19.01.2022 On Thursday evening we had the pleasure of attending the Cromwell Board and Staff Christmas party. At Ross’ final formal function after over 10 years at Cromwell, we took the opportunity to present him with a gift as thanks for all he has contributed to the College and COCA over the journey. The framed rugby jumper below is one half 2010 1st XV and one half 2020 1st XV being the first and last year of Ross’ tenure. ... We look forward to welcoming Ross and Jenny to the COCA community in the new year and have already locked them in for COCA Ball in August 2021. #tikka

19.01.2022 To the Cromwell College Community I was informed this morning of the sad news of the passing of our 4th Principal, Dr Clive Krohn. Clive had been in palliative care for a short time and passed away last Saturday, 25 July. Clive was the Principal of Cromwell College from 1975 1995 and until relatively recently, was a welcome guest at numerous special occasions at the College. Our thought are with the Krohn family at this sad time. I will advise further as information comes... to hand. Kind regards Ross * We will be putting together a Book of Condolences *

18.01.2022 See you all this afternoon

16.01.2022 Ross’s 10th year anniversary at Cromwell today! Ross & Jenny, with the addition of Ollie have had a wonderful impact on the lives of so many.

15.01.2022 Ross, Jenny, "Ollie" and the whole staff team wish all of our students, parents and our wider Cromwell community a safe and happy Easter period. We're really missing you here and we look forward to you returning when it's safer. Take care!

14.01.2022 ACADEMIC SUPPORT PROGRAM The academic support program at Cromwell has seen an average of 65 tutorials being provided per week across both semesters this year. T...his is a substantial number of tutorials for a college of our size and something I know the students are very appreciative of. A large amount of work is done weekly behind the scenes responding to tutorial requests, prioritizing tutorials, selecting tutors, liaising with students, timetabling tutorials as well as managing contracts and payments. Izzy Jurss, the 2019 Senior Tutor, has been a wonderful support, has personally managed the internal tutors and assisted with leading a group of dedicated Academic Mentors, all while balancing a busy personal schedule and maintaining a cumulative GPA of 6.17. Izzy is leaving Cromwell at the end of the year but I am sure will remain in close contact with the college. Our Academic Mentor team have once again provided valued pastoral support and academic advice to the students within their Faculty. First year students in particular have found having a fellow student to assist them with the transition from high school into university invaluable. A big thank you to Callum Breetzke, Cassia Gulley, Nicola Chaney, Madeline Parise, Kiara McIntyre, Molly Miles, Connor Shelton, Tiana Sheehy, Hamish Williams and Sidney Blake. Also a big thank you to all of the tutors who have done such a wonderful job in assisting students this year. Approximately 50% of our tutors are current students who have done particularly well in their courses, as well as recent ex-Cromwellians who want to continue their involvement in the academic program of the college. The balance of our tutors are sourced externally and many have commented on how much they have appreciated being part of the college community. An increased number of Academic Breakfasts have been arranged this year and for the first time some have been arranged on a Saturday morning to attract support from students and guests who find difficulty attending during the week. The college has appreciated the support of COCA, and in particular Alex Newton, for sourcing and co-ordinating a number of ex Cromwellians to attend breakfasts across the year. Next year’s Senior Tutor is Chrissy Meelen. Chrissy is currently studying a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Queensland and will, I’m sure, continue the strong work that has been done by her predecessors. Any COCA members who would like to be considered as a tutor in a particular course, or participate in the Academic Breakfast program in 2020, should contact me at [email protected].

14.01.2022 To the Cromwell College Community Further to my earlier message about the sad passing of our 4th Principal, Rev Dr Henry Clive" Krohn, I now can advise the following. The Funeral Service for Doc Krohn (as he was affectionately known here at Cromwell) will be live streamed at 10am on Friday 31st July via the link below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6W03NGBBLWs&feature=youtu.be... Cromwell College is compiling a condolences book for the Krohn family of messages received in relation to his time here at Cromwell. If you were associated with Doc Krohn at Cromwell either as a former student, or in other ways, please consider sending a message for inclusion in the book. Messages can be sent to [email protected] Kind regards Ross Switzer Principal (2010-2021)
