The health, wellbeing and safety of our clients and staff is paramount to us and we are taking the necessary steps to ensure it is safe for you to continue with massage and chiropractic treatments. What are we doing?... We are closely following advice and protocols established by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Australian Government (NSW Department of Health) Whilst we have adhered to strict hygiene practices in our clinic, we have implemented additional cleaning services and hygiene procedures to help keep you safe We have provided hand sanitiser at reception for you to use before and after treatment We are closely monitoring the health of our staff and clients Our staff have NOT travelled overseas this year and have not knowingly been in contact with anyone that has travelled overseas We have not been in contact with anyone displaying cold or flu symptoms What does this mean for you as a client and what can you do to help us? We will continue to provide regular treatments to our clients You can help us by calling the clinic to reschedule your appointment if you or any member of your family is sick, if you have recently returned from travelling overseas and/or if you or any member of your family is under quarantine You can help us by regularly washing your hands with soap and water You can help us by taking with you, any tissues, water cups or rubbish that you might have used whilst you are in the clinic You can help us by ensuring that you do not cough or sneeze in the vicinity of any other person and that you avoid touching your face, eyes or mouth This is not a normal situation for any of us, and we want you to know that we will keep you updated as the situation develops. 19.01.2022 MAKING SENSE OF HEADACHES So what actually hurts in a primary headache? It’s a good question. If there is no underlying pathology, why do I get head pain? ... While we have several different types of primary headache there is ultimately one common neurological process that underpins them all; a process called brainstem sensitisation. Head over to our blog for a detailed explanation of this complex issue. https://www.cronullabeachchiropracticandmassage.com/blog If you suffer from headaches and would like to make a massage or chiropractic appointment call the clinic on 02 9544 3100 or click the ‘Book Now’ button on our page. 17.01.2022 Got Tech Neck? If you own a smartphone it’s likely that you’ve experienced tech neck. Smartphone owners spend hours each day hunched over their screens, which often results in stiffness and pain in the neck area. Most of us don’t even realise how often we’re checking our phones, handheld device, or laptops until this sort of pain arises. Even though the phrase tech neck specifically indicates the neck, the symptoms often begin elsewhere. The spine stretches from your head d...own through your back; if stress is placed on one area, it is likely to spread to others, or at least be felt in other regions. In the case of tech neck, the bending of the cervical spine often manifests as: Pain in the upper back Headaches Mild ache in the neck Stiffness or sharp pain in the neck Reduced mobility in the shoulder/neck region If you’re suffering the effects of tech neck and would like to book a massage or chiropractic appointment, call the clinic on 9544 3100 or click the ‘Book Now’ button on our page. #cronullabeachchiropractic #chiropractor #cronulla #cronullabeach #massage #massagetherapy

13.01.2022 KIDS MIGRAINE It is well known that migraine is one of the most common and debilitating conditions that affect the quality of life of both late teenagers and adults. What is less appreciated, however, is that migraine seems to have the potential to express itself right from infancy. However, as this expression does NOT involve headache as a symptom, migraine can masquerade as a range of seemingly unrelated problems in the infant and young child.... Head over to our blog on our website for more information on this very interesting topic. https://www.cronullabeachchiropracticandmassage.com/blog If your child suffers from headaches, or has symptoms as listed on our blog and you would like to make a chiropractic appointment, call the clinic on 02 9544 3100 or click the ‘Book Now’ button on our page. 08.01.2022 At Cronulla Beach Chiropractic & Massage we are still open for business and taking appointments. The Federal Health Minister has confirmed that ALL Allied Health businesses can stay open and is encouraging them to do so to help serve their communities. We take our responsibility to keep you safe very seriously and all of our staff have now completed an eLearning course in Infection Control training COVID 19 with the Department of Health. We continue to monitor official ch...annels and have taken these extra precautions as follows: We are allowing more times between each appointment to help reduce the number of clients in the clinic at any one time. This enables us to do an even more thorough cleaning of the clinic between clients which includes all touch areas like door handles, chairs, the front desk, pens and our HICAPS machine to give you even more peace of mind. We have reduced the number of chairs in the waiting room to assist with social distancing. We have decommissioned the filtered water machine. We ask for your co-operation to call the clinic (02 9544 3100) to reschedule or cancel your appointment if you or any member of your family is sick (even with a slight cold), if you have recently returned from overseas and if you or any member of your family is in isolation. We all need to do our bit to help #flattenthecurve We will of course keep you updated if anything changes.

07.01.2022 MAKING SENSE OF HEADACHES HOW CAN CHIROPRACTIC & MASSAGE HELP? It is obvious that manual therapies such as chiropractic and massage can help with cervicogenic headaches that are caused by referred pain from structures in the neck. How though, is it that both migraines and tension headaches can be helped by treating the joints and muscles of the neck?... A key concept to understand is that of sensory convergence. In addition to sensations from the head, the upper neck also has nerve endings that relay information to the trigeminocervical nucleus (TCN). If there is any sort of mechanical issue in the neck such as postural strain this will feed into the TCN and bring it closer to threshold, which could then act as a further trigger to over-reaction to other environmental triggers. It is also known that manual therapies have a stimulatory effect on the pain modulation pathways in the brain, which can further dampen brainstem sensitisation in the TCN and move the patient further from threshold point. Combining manual therapies with a range of other ancillary techniques such as exercise, postural retraining, and breathing/mindfulness techniques have all been shown to be helpful as an overall management strategy. 06.01.2022 WORLD SPINE DAY 2019 The theme for this year’s World Spine Day is Get Spine Active (#getspineactive). We’ve often heard the phrase ‘movement is medicine’ and keeping your spine mobile while staying active helps to maintain flexibility and prevent back pain. With over 60 joints in your spine, it’s important that they function properly so the spine can keep you upright while protecting your spinal cord and nerves. As we get older, we all suffer from wear and tear changes, s...o are subject to aches and pains from time to time. But this doesn’t mean you need to stop moving it means quite the opposite! Doing daily exercise and movements to keep your spine functioning properly may help to prevent joints from getting creaky and painful. Additionally, we offer alternatives, for many walks of life. This World Spine Day, make sure you #getspineactive #cronullabeachchiropractic #cronullachiropractor #chiropractor #cronulla #cronullabeach #spine #active #worldspineday2019 #worldspineday
