24.01.2022 Have you found yours? Find the people who choose joy in life. Who choose to see everything they have to be grateful for. Find the people who are nice to other people and who dont think theyre better than anyone else. Find the people who encourage you. Who support you. Who cheer you on and push you to achieve your goals. Find the people who dont take themselves too seriously. Who love to laugh and are excited about life. Find the people who want adventure. Who want ...to do fun things and get outside. Find people who are kind to everyone, who practice compassion and inclusivity. Find these people. Surround yourself with them. We all need to be a part of a family, a community, something bigger than ourselves. Were social creatures. The community you have will determine a large part of who you are, how you think and how you feel. Surround yourself with the good and youll see the good. Surround yourself with the negative and people who put other people down and youll become that person. Pay attention to your people, your tribe, and what the culture is of that tribe. Find the people who make you a better happier person all the feels right now for having exactly that with my Bootcamp Fam & especially starting the Shred on Monday, watching the most amazing supportive group of people constantly cheering each other on and wanting each other to succeed, thats what life is all about. 22.01.2022 You’ve outdone yourselves We wrapped up our Km’s For Christmas fundraiser a couple of weeks ago but left the fundraising open until Christmas Eve. A big thanks to @emmawandphotography for donating the last week of yoga to Orana and everyone who attended our last Zoom stretch classes also had their money go to Orana which brought us to the grand total of $8,270 raised I am seriously so blown away by everyones efforts. You guys seriously put in such a huge effort phys...ically with the massive Km’s you clocked up over the 4wks but also with the effort you went to with the fundraising. I initially put a $5,000 target that I hoped we would reach but we completely SMASHED IT! I’m so grateful to everyone who took part and to every single person who donated. We see all the donations that have gone through and I can’t tell you what it means to all of us to have been able to raise this much for @oranacharity All of us were part of one seriously awesome team, both participants and donors, and together we will contribute to helping a lot of people in our community. I can’t think of a better way to end a year Thank you so much guys!! See more

22.01.2022 Do you do this? We as humans are pretty good at running ourselves into the ground. The pace of life these days is CRAZY!! Whats worse is that were so used to it that its become our normal. It took a pandemic forced life stop for most of us to realise we need to slow down and do a bit less so that we can have more peace and happiness and reflect on whats really important in life But our priorities are not the only thing that have come in to focus this year, our heal...th has taken centre stage as well. We have always known that living a healthy lifestyle is important, but when you have something like 2020 happen you seriously start to take stock of how well youve been looking after yourself & how strong your body and immune system is Which is great! Thats something were in control of so we can do something about it. If this year teaches us anything I hope its to make our health and fitness a huge priority. Its so true that if we dont look after ourselves then we cant look after the ones we love. The more we workout, the better we feel and the more energy we have to look after our loved one. The better we eat, the healthier we are and the more energy we have. The more sleep we get, the more water we drink, its all about self love & self care A total legend I know posted about this today and I thought it was a great reminder to me & to everyone to make sure youre taking care of yourself. And please, always find time for fun! Life is serious enough guys, especially this year, so watch funny movies, comedians, surround yourself with people who laugh and are silly, even in a year like this there is joy to be found and created. Lets look after us so that we can all be there for each other See more

21.01.2022 GET TO KNOW YOUR BOOTCAMP BUDDIES! First name: Nat Occupation: Retail manager What does that mean you do: wear pretty dresses... How long have you been a Bootcamper: Since April 2014 What do you love about Bootcamp: seeing all my bootcamp buddies everyday, I have made so many friends for life from bootcamp. I love being outside in the morning and starting my day with fitness. I love challenging myself to do better and lift heavier. I love seeing Loz every morning and I love starting my day feeling happy and energised Fave exercise: weights, squats, ropes Least fave exercise: bear crawl and sit ups Biggest change you’ve noticed since Bootcamp: I have found a love of exercise. Before bootcamp I used to do a little bit of exercise because I had to, now I hate missing any days of bootcamp because I honestly love it so much. I feel fit, strong and so happy Biggest fitness achievement to date: running the sutho to surf without stopping. When I started bootcamp I couldn’t even do a lap run without stopping Next fitness goal: purple weight bar (16kg) Fun fact about you: I love to bake Thanks for sharing Nat! Here’s my addition from what I’ve gotten to know about you. I feel like I’ve known 2 Nat’s, pre-shred Nat and the new Nat. Both absolute legends obviously, but after you lost 25kgs it’s like NICE TO MEET YOU NAT!! Your confidence completely brought you out of your shell and we now get to see every awesome part of you. Not just that but how you are at training now is next level. You’re a super hard working fitness machine. Your strength and fitness has gone through the roof!! You are so consistent. Training 5-6 days per week non stop for years now. Everyone loves you because it’s just so easy to. You’re a genuinely good person, never negative or complaining, always encouraging your buddies at both Bootcamp and in their personal lives. We’re all so lucky to have you in the Bootcamp Fam See more

21.01.2022 Less is more?? No waaay!! MORE IS MORE!! Let’s talk about your cadence or your stride rate. This refers to how many times your feet hit the ground in 1min while you’re running. If you don’t have a fitness watch that accurately tracks this you can easily just count this yourself. Your cadence is important for a number of reasons. People with a lower cadence are more susceptible to injuries, won’t run as fast, use more energy when they run as they are in the air for lon...ger so will tire quicker, generally have poorer form as their feet land further out in front of their bodies, hit the ground harder which is worse for joints, muscles and bones. So when we look at all of that it’s easy to see why we want a higher cadence when we run to avoid all of the above. So how do we get it? You can get tempo tracks to listen to while you run that can help, and just concentrating on shorter steps rather than running faster. There are ways you can specifically calculate your own cadence but aiming for somewhere around 180 SPM (steps per minute) is great. If you’re at 140 now, don’t try to jump straight up to 180 SPM. Just like anything gradual increases are better and even just trying to increase your cadence for parts of your runs rather than your whole run is great. Going too big too soon will increase your risk of injury because you’re changing your running style too dramatically so as with everything ease into it and give your body time to adult to a new normal See more

15.01.2022 Life is better outdoors

15.01.2022 Don’t get caught making this mistake! A lot of runners sacrifice their strength training to get in extra kilometres each week Strength training is so important for running especially for injury prevention - think knees big time, but also all other muscles, joints, bones, tendons and ligaments - but also improves your pace, endurance, and stability. Lower body exercises specific to running are a must to include in a runners training program like Single leg calf rai...ses, single leg squats to a chair, toe taps, split squats, and planks. All of these should be done extremely slow and controlled throughout the whole range of mobility and around 3 sets of 10-12 reps per side, So you can start off using body weight only and then slowly add weight so that you are fatiguing for the last 3 reps. While these specific exercises are important to have in your routine, all strength training will improve you’re running considerably and massively aid in injury prevention. Think of all base moves we do a Bootcamp, squats, squat jumps, walking lunges, Overhead lunges, every variation of lunges really, booty band work, all of these things dramatically improve your strength and stability which will buy you many extra kilometres injury free both now and in the long run. So when you’re training for something specific whether it be running or any other fitness/sports goal, remember doing that actual thing is only a small part of what needs to take place in your routine to get you match fit and constantly see you improving See more

14.01.2022 Hot tips - take note kids Recovery needs to play a huge roll in your exercise regime so if youre skipping these things then youre setting yourself up for increased risk of injury, muscle and overall fatigue, soreness & stiffness, and you wont be getting the most out of your training sessions therefore not getting the maximum benefits from your workouts which means - you wont progress & you wont be getting as fit and as strong as what youre actually capable of. That... sucks!! So here are my top 5 tips that you should all be doing to aid in your exercise recovery: 1 Avoid hot showers!! A lot of people think that if they are sore they should have a hot shower and this could not be further from the truth. Immediately after a training session having a hot shower will make you way more sore for way longer. Remember, athletes have Ice Baths! So if you cant fully tolerate a cold shower then keep it lukewarm but definitely dont go for heat. 2 HYDRATE!! Make sure you keep your water intake up. Aim for 2 to 3 L per day every day. 3 Stretch / Yoga. Dedicate time every day to stretch and make sure you hold each stretch for at least 60sec. Try to dedicate at least 10 minutes per day to stretching, even if its while you are watching TV before you go to bed. 4 Sleep! Try to get 8hrs of sleep every night. Our body repairs itself while we are sleeping amongst other major important things so the less hours of sleep we get the less hours of repair. 5 Magnesium. Taking a powdered magnesium every night before you go to bed works absolute wonders. It makes such a huge difference to how your muscles pull up after training. Make sure you get a good quality brand, I use BioCeuticals. Start consciously adding these into your daily routine and your body will feel completely different. I would love to hear from you guys if you have any great tips or tricks for recovery or anything that youve added in that has massively helped you See more

11.01.2022 2020 BEFORE & AFTER HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS Well, what a ride! But far out, I wouldn’t have wanted to be on this rollercoaster with any other group of legends but you guys I really need to thank you all for everything you’ve done for me this year. You guys have actually made my year great, and we have achieved some awesome stuff this year! Couldn’t train in person anymore?? No worries!! We went straight to Zoom and still had a ball. Naked housemates, nip slips, ga...mes nights, and super cute pets and family joining in added an extra element that we don’t get in person 30+ of us couldn’t go to Noosa for the half marathon?? No worries! We still ran our own virtual half marathons and 10kms!! Stuck at home and not moving around much?? No worries!! We had the biggest Shred ever in isolation with the biggest results, and we had people leave isolation fitter and stronger than when they went in!! Sutho2Surf was cancelled? NO WORRIES! We did our own Sutho2Surf and ran the whole proper course with some people doing it for the first time and others getting PB’s! There have been so many changes to all of our lives this year, but one thing we now know for sure is that we can roll with the punches, and we can find the positives in any situation. I hope 2021 is a much kinder year to us all and I hope that the New Year brings fast and amazing changes for all of us. If this year has taught us anything it’s that our health needs to be our priority, and that nothing is as important as the ones we love. I have some awesome things planned for 2021 that I’m so excited about for all of us. I want 2021 to be the year that we all take our health and fitness to the next level, and the year where we realise the limits we have put on ourselves are only in our minds, and that we can all achieve great things BRING IT 2021!! See more

11.01.2022 Tag your bestest ever boxing buddy who you can’t wait to punch again

11.01.2022 Ok - get your pen and paper out This week I’m going to be doing some tips on all things running, so whether you’re wanting to start running, wanting to improve your running, or do some small runs even like the warm up at Bootcamp, these will help. Tip 1 is SLOW DOWN!! For new runners and advanced runners. Here’s why: New Runners - most people who say I can’t run just take off too quickly and wear themselves out. Just this week I’ve had a few I can’t runners come to... RunClub and smash out a 5km-8km run WITHOUT STOPPING! Most of my clients have heard me say old man shuffle many many times, so keep that in your head. You CAN run, you’re just going out way too fast. Slow it right down even to the point where it feels like cheating. This is how you start to run. For more seasoned runners AND new runners - you need to be doing heart rate runs to really build your endurance. You’re wanting to sit at around 60-70% of your max heart rate (I’ll add how to calculate below) for at least 30mins each session. What you’ll notice over time by doing this is that as your heart rate range stays the same, your pace will over time become faster meaning you will be running a lot quicker, but still will that low heart rate. Basically you’ll end up running the pace you’re running at now, potentially with your heart beating 30bpm less! (Hypothetically) so your body becomes way more efficient and conditioned to endurance. Google Zone 2 training for more info on that Now I’m not saying that these are the only runs you should be doing. Adding in sprint sessions, interval training etc is also awesome but most people run in what they call the grey zone which is pretty much smashing themselves for not much long term improvement. Max heart is 220 - your age. Then to stay in Zone 2 you want to be staying within 60-70% of that. So 220 - age, x .6 or .7 I hope this was helpful guys! Let me know if you’ve ever done any heart rate training and how it worked out for you See more

11.01.2022 3 more sleeps and we’re back!! Can’t wait to make 2021 bigger and better than ever! The weeks starting Jan 4, and Jan 11 are 1wk payments then we start out first 6wk Bootcamp on Jan 18.... All pricing and times are on the app or get in touch for more info See more

10.01.2022 This fun fact is a game changer Willpower is a term that gets associated with fitness and diet pretty regularly. While people may think you need to work on strengthening your willpower, this is not the case The part of your brain responsible for willpower is actually our smallest and weakest part of our brain so as soon as were tired, stressed, angry, emotional etc this part of our brain switches off and BOOM, willpower out the window ... So how do we work around it? We create a life that doesnt need willpower! We only need willpower when we are trying to do something that we dont want to do. So by making sure we create a relationship with exercise & healthy food that is positive & something that we want to do, something we enjoy, then we dont need to use our willpower to do it. Its just what we want to do!! So make sure you find healthy foods that you love and pay attention to how great they make you feel and how much you enjoy them. Then you will gravitate towards these always. And pay attention to how great you feel when you work out, how much you love the environment, how happy the people around you at training make you, then you will always gravitate towards doing this because its what makes you happy! No willpower needed, its just what you want to do! Shoutout to all our Bootcamp buddies who make getting out of bed and coming to training easy cause they make us so happy! See more

07.01.2022 All smiles for the warm sunny day feels at the moment Life is good Super grateful I get to start my days outdoors by the ocean with a big bunch of legends. Bring on Spring!!

06.01.2022 Don’t ever let fear stop you from doing anything! So many people when they first join Bootcamp say they’ve been wanting to start for a while but they’re worried they’re not fit enough, they won’t be able to keep up, it will be too hard for them, they will hold everyone up. Sound familiar? Well I’m super happy to tell you that none of those things are true. Don’t psych yourself out of something that you really want to do and will ultimately just change your life for the b...etter. Here are some things that might make you feel a bit more comfortable to take the leap: There are always brand new people starting so you’re not alone When you first start you will be on much lighter weights & lower reps (amount of exercise) than people who have been coming for a while I would never make people wait for anyone before starting them on their next thing. Everyone is always working, so no one could ever hold up the group When you’re first starting out the best thing to do is to ease yourself into training. If you go out too hard you risk injury & can end up super sore which isn’t fun for anyone, so I’m always happy for beginners to just ease their way into training So what are you waiting for? Nothing changes until something changes Take the leap. You’re gonna love it See more

05.01.2022 I know you’ve felt this.... Ever been on holidays or taken a few weeks break from training (or months ) only to return saying I feel like I’ve lost all my fitness & strength! .... well. You would have! We start to lose our cardio fitness in just 1 week!! And our strength starts to deteriorate in 2wks!! That’s bloody fast of you ask me, but I bet you’ve felt it. You go away or you have time off if you’re sick etc and you come back and think WHERE DID MY FITNESS GO!! ... This is why consistency trumps EVERYTHING!! Don’t let your hard work go to waste. STAY WITH IT. Don’t go so far backwards that you have to work super hard just to get back to where you were. STAY WITH IT. Don’t play sick for too long. STAY WITH IT. Don’t use excuses to get out of training. STAY WITH IT. Consistency will at the very least maintain your level of fitness and strength. Consistency at best will have you getting fitter & stronger in leaps and bounds. However a lack of consistency will inevitably have you going backwards. Don’t waste your time. Invest in you. 05.01.2022 You’ll want to write these down Here are my best tips to get you to absolute smash your health & fitness goals for the week ahead (and every week) 1 BOOK IT IN! Book in your exercise for the whole week. That means signing into Bootcamp sessions on the app, writing in your calendar the exact day/s & time/s you’re going to go for a run etc. no matter what your exercise routine is, lock it in like an appointment right now. Then stick to it & makes sure it happens. ... 2 PREP YOUR FOOD! You know the whole failing to prepare is preparing to fail saying. It’s true. Prep ALL of your food. Don’t get stuck anywhere with the snacky snacks with no healthy food on hand. 3 DON’T SNOOZE! Yup. Ditch that button man. Hitting snooze is starting your day failing. You’ve already failed your first task of the day. Just get up. The 5sec countdown works a treat. 4 PREP AGAIN!! This one is for your workouts. Lay your clothes out the night before. Have your drink bottle ready in the fridge. Makes things as easy as possible for yourself so that you follow through. 5 STOP ASKING YOURSELF HOW YOU FEEL! Do I feel like working out or do I feel like a sleep in? .... aaaagh we all feel like a sleep in most of the time but we also all know that we feel so much better once we workout and that’s what will lead us to our goals. Stop asking yourself how you feel and just stick to your commitments - both with exercise and food. 6 MINDSET IS EVERYTHING! Make a habit of using a mindset tool at least 5mins everyday. Whether it’s a book, audiobook, podcast, documentary. Get your head in the right place and keep it there. 7 SLEEP! If you think you’re going to be able to accomplish anything worthwhile in life with little sleep you have another think coming. 7-8hrs you should be aiming for each night. It’s vital. It’s not possible to be on top of your game without it. Think you’ll feel like working out when you haven’t had enough sleep?? Think you’ll be able to smash out an awesome session with not enough sleep?? And what about the food cravings when you’re tired GET TO BED! 8 DRINK WATER! Minimum 2L everyday. Start early in the morning and keep it up. See more

04.01.2022 Why we love PLANK The plank is a seriously awesome core exercise that improves posture, core strength, balance, low back pain, posture and even flexibility besides giving you a tighter tummy this exercise is a great full body workout too, activating more muscles than most other ab exercises do. Having a strong core isnt just about toned abs, a strong core helps us stabilise, balance and power the body during pretty much every physical activity. Having good core strength is the basis for all powerful and coordinated athletic movements. So its a big winner in my books and why we use it a lot in its many variations at Bootcamp

03.01.2022 How do you stay pumped for your workouts? Ever get bored of doing the same thing over and over and knowing what comes next?As with everything in life,we need to keep mixing it up to stay interested & enthusiastic. A common theme youll hear from Bootcampers is that even after coming for years, theyve never done the same workout twice.I pride myself on this & you could even call it part of my business model. ... Why this is so important is not just for you guys, but for us as trainers too!We need to keep the fire in our bellies,we need to stay creative & pumped, we need to constantly keep learning new things & growing to make ourselves better trainers & that way we can deliver better workouts Now dont get this confused with consistency or progression. These things arent all thrown together willynilly theres careful planning & progression to all of our workouts. Were constantly doing the same exercises so that we can progress, get stronger,& grow. But we put them together in different ways to not only keep us all entertained & excited, but mixing things up is a sure fire way for the body to adapt & get stronger. If you always train one way, your body will get very conditioned to that and of course stronger over time.Lets look at weight lifting. If youre always doing sets & reps GREAT!You can have someone whos been doing that for 5yrs so they smash through it easily. But then add in some sprints or plyometric movements in between & they might die in the butt pretty quickly. Do you want to be strong or cardio fit?Do you want to be able to lift heavy weights or do high reps with body weight?Um I WANT THEM ALL PLEASE? And thats how we train you guys.I want you guys to be strong in every area, flexibility, endurance, power, strength, anaerobic all of the things! When we workout, were using stress on our bodies so it adapts & grows stronger so that it can deal with that amount of force in the future(this is whats happening when you get sore after a workout. The muscle fibres tear, then rebuild stronger)but this applies not only to an exercise but also to training styles.Mix up your training styles to become stronger in EVERY way See more
