Congratulations to the Shea family who purchased her dam Crookslea G Glory VG in calf carrying Graceful whose bloodlines are the foundation of the very successful Graceful family at Rockmar including Rockmar Miami Graceful -Champ Cow IDW 2018 &2020 Great memories from 1987 .

08.01.2022 Today we look back at the incredibull Nerrill GH Symbolic .After judgeing the Brisbane Royal in1987 the opportunity arose to purchase 6 animals from the Patrick’s family Nerrill stud who were retiring from dairy farming.Included in the purchase were N GH Mildred -Champ cow Brisbane 87 ,N GH Snowflake -Res Champ cow Brisbane 87 and N GH Symbolic -Champ Bull Brisbane 87. Arriving in Victoria in Feb 88 Symbolic soon became a headline act due to his extreme size.He was not just b...ig he had great conformation classifying Excellent and winning many championships including Champ Bull and Res Champ All Breeds Melbourne Royal 1988 a feat he also repeated in 89-90. Symbolic appeared on the front page of the Melbourne Sun in October 88and another appearance in89.He also made headlines in the Australian Post magazine and local papers .He was a celebrity on the local show circuit being displayed in a tent and promoted as the ‘Worlds Largest Bull ‘ with a gold coin donation on entry.Fun times indeed as we remember the incredibull Nerrill GH Symbolic. 06.01.2022 Today we look back at a bull that figured prominently in the pedigree of a majority of the Crookslea foundation herd .The Queensland bred much travelled Cossartvale Gloria’s Beau .After being Champion at Brisbane Royal he was sold to NSW where he was 4 times Champion at Sydney Royal.The family (Crooksdale) purchased .Beau in 1969 where he continued his successful show career being Champion at Adelaide Royal in 1969-70.Unfortunately he was ineligible for Melbourne Royal (dam not herd recorded).A winner of 74 Championships and a undefeated show career Beau went on to be a very successful sire and a huge influence at Crooksdale/Crookslea. We remember the great Cossartvale Gloria’s Beau.

05.01.2022 Lockdown Lookback Crookslea Guernseys was established in 1978 with a half share of the family Crooksdale stud (D.L.Wilkie &Sons).The first animal selected was Kemwarra Trudy who was purchased by the family months prior to the 1975 Sydney Royal Show where she had previously been Champion Cow in 1971 and Res.Champ.Cow in1974.Trudy went on to be Champ.Cow at Sydney in 1975 at 10 yrs old and then transported to Victoria where she became Australia’s first Excellent cow .A dtr C.Fames Trudy VG 88 sold for then record price $7500 and her son C Trudy’s Beau Sired Ashgarth TB Empress the first Australian cow to produce in excess of 20000lbs milk and 1000lbs bf. We look back with fond memories of the great Kemwarra Trudy .

03.01.2022 We take a look back at the great story of Cormiston Rani VG 88(Tassie) On the advice of renowned Holstein breeder Des Vallence after a judgeing appointment at Launceston on his return home he saidthere is a cow over there good enough to win Melbourne .After a hastily arranged family holiday to Tasmania the sale was completed and Tassie was off to the mainland.Tassie had previously been Champ.cow and Res.Champ.All-Breeds Launceston ‘78. After being too fresh for Melbourne in... 1979 she went on to win Champ.Shepparton and Champ cow and Res Champ.All-Breeds Colac Feature Show ‘79(defeating reigning Melb.Champ.Cow) Calved again and in peak form in 1980 Tassie was 1st 6yrs in milk 1st Best Vessel Champion Cow and Supreme Guernsey Exhibit Melbourne Royal,a proud moment for the Wash(Cormiston) and Wilkie families.
