The First thing you need to know is that CrossFit is a lifestyle and CrossFit By Design is group of people dedicated to making themselves better. OK, I know what you are thinking. Sounds like a nice place to be but I still don’t know what goes on there. Well in technical terms CrossFit is performing constantly varied, functional movements at high intensity. Nerd Fitness described as a training program ...that builds strength and conditioning through extremely varied and challenging workouts. Each day the workout will test a different part of your functional strength or conditioning, not specializing in one particular thing, but rather with the goal of building a body that’s capable of practically anything and everything. 21.01.2022 Greasing the Groove..and how this can help us improve our strength and skill in CrossFit. So..What is Greasing the Groove? greasing the groove is ultimately doing the same exercise/s frequently, with every set performed without going to muscular fatigue. One of the advantages of Grease The Groove is that you do not have to take out too much of your time each day to achieve results.... How can you start incorporating this into your daily life or Training Schedule? Lets say you want to improve your Push-up ability, several times throughout the day complete a set of Push-ups at a sub-maximal rep range. (if you’re max let’s say is 10 Push-ups Start with 3 4 reps) You could start doing this 3 times a day, then 4 times a day and so on. The aim of Greasing The Groove would be to increase either the number of reps of the number of sets each day, but always remembering we DON’T want to go to failure! A great way to stay consistent with getting in those reps can be as simple as setting a reminder on your phone! The Grease the Groove for Strength method can be applied to any movement that we carry out in CrossFit that you want to get better at! (Sit-ups, Pull-ups, plank etc..) How about challenge yourself for a month and see how you go?

18.01.2022 Hero WOD Sunday's! Keen to get around a Workout on a Sunday? Every Sunday run a WOD (Workout Of the Day) dedicated to the fallen first responder's or member's of the military who died in the line of duty. From CrossFit: Military, law enforcement and first responder communities were among the amongst the earliest proponents of CrossFit. Their intensity matched with the fitness CrossFit provides is a match made in heaven. When a service member dies in the line of duty, a CrossFit hero workout is created in their name. Hero WODs are an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of the fallen to speak their names and honor their memories. These workouts have been a tradition of workout gyms since 2008.

11.01.2022 Benefits of Jumping! When we think of CrossFit, we think of things like gymnastics, Lifting, Metcons, etc., But one thing that we overlook is plyometrics (Jumping!) Why is it so important? Plyometrics have heaps benefits, The two main one's that relate to CrossFitters would be the benefit of increasing agility and coordination (Both part of the ten fitness domains - Cardiovascular and Respiratory endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agili...ty, Balance, and Accuracy.) Jumping also has the ability to train your muscles to increase their power outputWhich also leads to an increase in strength if that is a goal of yours. (More power leads to more strength!) Some examples of Plyometric movements include: Standing Broad Jumps, Box Jumps, Single Leg Box Jumps, Single Leg Broad JumpsAnd the list goes on. SoGet your Jump on my Friends.

As CrossFit is known for Preparing for the unknown and the unknowable. We may not enjoy certain aspects of the program, but the benefit to including each modality, time domain, and rep scheme into our weekly/monthly program helps us all gain the skills that will benefit us. We become more prepared!

Cumin (can add more if you want) 1/2 tsp. Paprika (can add more if you want) Salt & Pepper. How to: Pretty simple mate... - Drain and Pat dry chickpeas - In a bowl toss chickpeas and olive oil in a bow thoroughly - Toss in Cumin and Paprika and coat well - Bake on about 180 - 190 degrees
