Notice how for the same amount of calories, you can 20 times the amount of watermelon as nuts That's a big difference in volume and will also take non-competitive eaters a much longer time to eat.... Both of which would benefit satiety. The point of this graph is just to give you an idea of energy density. That building your diet around fruits and vegetables is going to mean your eating a decent volume of food which is going to help you regulate your intake. What it doesn't show are some other factors that would impact appetite such as: Palatability; While the Ben & Jerry's may be less energy-dense than the brazil nuts and Weetbix, we're more likely to eat a lot more of the ice-cream due to it being more palatable (delicious). Protein; Protein has been shown to be more satiating than carbs or fats, and as such high protein foods such as the chicken breast are likely more satiating than the banana even though it's less food. Fibre; foods with more fibre tend to also be more satiating. What's that mean for you? Eat plenty of minimally processed, fibre rich, protein-rich foods during a fat loss/weight maintenance phase is likely a good idea. 18.01.2022 Given we got some deads coming up next week, have a watch.. ..... Reposted from @squat_university If you lose stability & your back moves when deadlifting, your spine flexes. Now if this happens just once youll likely be fine & wont injure yourself. However, the more often this occurs, and the more spinal flexion is with combined with compression, the sooner youll creates a disc bulge. . Solution always work to lock your spine and keep it from moving when lifting. ... . Key point: We dont want to fear spine flexion. Remember, your spine was designed to move. To flex, to twist, to bend and extend. However, when we pick up weights we want it to remain relatively still and not move. When load (lifting weights) is combined with spinal movement (like allowing your spine to flex) it is the pathway that EVENTUALLY leads to injury. This doesnt happen overnight & it doesnt happen at the same rate or timeline in everyone. BUT it is the same mechanism. So to keep your back safe when lifting long term, dont let it move like @martinslicis is showing at the end of this clip! . 16.01.2022 Intensity is King, NOT Volume So here is my thought: Intensity over volume WINS (depending on what you are after)... In its original intent CrossFit was made to be short in duration and high in intensity. Many times it is easy to get into a mentality of, more is better or maybe if I add volume Ill expedite the fitness process. James Hobart Volume is not the cure-all; effective coaching is. If an athlete is going to a normal CrossFit class and there is a well-rounded program in place, then that is sufficient for making continual progress. Even if slow, progress will be there; remember intensity is King. A single effective dose of CrossFit a day, 4-5 times a week is enough to obtain and sustain lifetime fitness. What is often misunderstood in CrossFit is that intensity is relative to each individual. Every workout and exercise can be scaled and adapted to each persons capacity guaranteeing that theyll receive the intended stimuli of the workout and work within their abilities. This is made much easier by going to the right facility and with the right coaches! Have a look at the coaches at the facility you train? Are most of them full-time or part-time? Question: would you go to a Dr who practices medicine for a hobby? #canberra #crossfitsfs

15.01.2022 4 Steps to Limit Junk Food If only junk food didnt taste so good, then it would be easier to resist. The reason is a specialized balance of sugar, fat and salt. While it tastes phenomenalits detrimental to your fat loss results.... Wondering what exactly classifies as junk food? Youre not alone, especially now that many junk foods are being cleverly marketed and packaged as healthy choices. Here you go: Junk food has little to zero nutritional value Junk food is processed and packaged Junk food is high in sugar, fat Junk food is high in calories Junk food is rarely eaten out of hunger Imagine being 100% free of junk food for the next 30 days. How would your weight improve? How would you feel? How many empty calories would you save yourself from? Action Step #1: Get Rid of It Step one is simple: get rid of all the junk food that currently resides in your home, office and car. Go through with a big garbage bag and toss anything that remotely resembles junk food. Step #2: Stock Up on the Healthy Stuff Step two is where you go to the store and stock up on delicious, nutritious foods that will take the place of the junk food. Nuts, seeds, fruit, veggies, hard boiled eggs, carrots, celery, hommus. Step #3: HALT! When the next craving strikes you, tell yourself to HALT! This word is actually a handy acronym. Ask yourself, Am I Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired? If youre hungry then reach for one of the healthy snacks from step two. If youre angry, then explore the issue and seek resolution. If you are lonely, then reach out to a friend, instead of reaching for junk food. And if you are tired then make the time to grab a nap or get to bed early to catch up on sleep. Step #4: Stick With It The first day that you go without junk food will be the hardest day. The second day will be a smidge easier. The third day will be even easier. The fact is that your taste buds adjust to the foods that you eat. When your diet is filled with junk foods then that is what your taste buds will crave. Stick with it, one day at a time, and you will break free from the grip of junk food addiction.

How hard are you really working? At eating better? At being a good friend? At being a good husband or wife? At self development? At CrossFit? Are you actually working hard or are you scared of your potential? Are you worried that if you work too hard, you might actually put yourself in a foreign head space or physical state?
