The bill that Acting Immigration Minister Alan Tudge wants to pass would give the Australian Border Force (ABF) more power to confiscate mobile phones and perform strip searches in detention centers. It’s already passed through the lower house of Parliament, and now just needs to pass through the Senate. Senator Jacqui Lambie is using a poll to decide which way she wants to vote on this issue. 05.01.2022 Some great news! After almost 8 years of detention, Mostafa alongside 25 other asylum seekers are finally free. Lets not forget that there are plenty more detained on and offshore that are awaiting our help, awaiting us to give them the freedom they yearn for and deserve. ... Asylum seekers‘ only crime is seeking safety after fleeing discrimination, mistreatment and, in some instances, death in their home-countries. Seeking safety is a human right. It’s such a shame that it took us 8 years to provide that as a country. We can do better. We should do better. History is recording, so lets do better.
