20.01.2022 The Broccoli is doing well. I've cut out the main head and leave the plant and then we get little Broccoli. yum. I'm also going to put the sweet potato runners in a different garden bed once I harvest the sweet potatoes.

19.01.2022 Just out enjoying this lovely weather. Harvesting the last of the Zuccini and Tomatoes. Planted some more Brocoli so that we have staggered plantings giving us a continuous supply. Putin some Asian cabbages like Boc Choy. I'm even risking putting in some self sown Coriander, the other is still growing but gone to seed. I still have Capsicums, Tomatoes and Sweet Potaoes. This should give some nice winter soups.

18.01.2022 We covered our Asparagus plants with weed matting and have lovely White Asparagus. We use to eat them seasonally in Switzerland, they are quite a delicacy in spring time. I also just planted some more Asparagus so that we can produce just a little more. I love White Asparagus in soup most of all. It is only white because it hasn't seen the sun to activate the green growth. In Europe they mound the soil or sand over the rows of Asparagus and only cut them just as they about to break through to the light. They are usually thicker than the green asparagus and they need to be peeled. They taste a little different but delicious.

17.01.2022 Perfect time now to put in broccoli, cauliflowers and all your other winter vegetables.. Leave the netting on all the time and you'll grow a beautiful crop

17.01.2022 Well seems to be the slow time of year. What with the shorter daylight hours and cooler weather it seems to more difficult to find the motication to get outside. Thank goodness the plants slow down at this time of year. I'm just letting some of the beds rest ready for spring. But in saying that I have continued to plant carrots, spring, garlic,celleria, swedes and brussel sprouts.The broccoli, califlowers and Coriander are still growing as is the basil, funny that.Anyway, happy gardening.

15.01.2022 We make compost bins too. Made from jarrah timber and recycled corrugated sheets. Sizes are about 1.8m x 1m. Easy to empty. Just unscrew (Tek screw) the front panel. Various colours. $120 with recycled sheets. $160 with new sheets. Can't ship. Pickup in Northcliffe only or delivery around manjimup if buying multiple units

12.01.2022 We have to put weed matting under the first row of beds as they are close to a large tree and it seems to send in the roots and suck out the goodness and water, the plants generally don't grow so well there. It was quite a surprise to empty the beds, move them around and find that even after 5 years the Colourbond and Jarrah are still strong, no signs of rust or rot. Must be a good product.

12.01.2022 With our raised garden beds gardening becomes very easy. Once they're setup all you have to do is plant - water - harvest. The frame, made from Jarrah, is strong enough so you can sit on it and even for keen gardeners in wheelchairs the beds are practical.... The netting is strong and UV resistant, it dosen't fray and you can wash it in the washing maschine. It greates a micro climate and keeps all the nasty bugs out. The seedlings grow much quicker under it and if the plants are big you simply move it up along the hoops. No need to take it off. We recommend drip lines for irrigation. This can be connected to a timer for when you are away or simply one less thing to do. The beds come in flat packs and we sell them for $270 plus freight. We make them in cottage green or zinc. 06.01.2022 Just turned the soil in one of the beds. Harvesting the last of the Fennel and finding some self sown potatoes. Planted a bag full of lovely baby potatoes that were just starting to sprout. I know it's said you should rotate your crops, I like to experiment. Looks like rain so I just have to wait now. The dog was no help, he just had to lie around and enjoy a siesta, again.
