23.01.2022 One of our favourite buildings at the HISTORICAL VILLAGE is the SLAB HUT. This is a great display that you actually get to step inside of, to gaze around and feel for yourself the simple, yet hard life the early settlers had. Come and experience the SLAB HUT. Open 10am every day. #slabhut #historicalvillage #crowsnestqld #toowoombaregion #closertotheclouds #visitdarlingdowns #oldschool #machinery #highcountry #highcountryhamlets #darlingdownsregion #timbertown

23.01.2022 We are thanking those who attended the Blush Cancer Care Inc morning tea on Friday. With your help we raised over $1650 for Breast Cancer. We’re likely to make the BLUSH morning tea at the museum an annual event. It was most apparent that all the guests had a lovely time and were able to have a walk around the museum too. A big thank you to all the museum’s volunteers ... #blush #breastcancer #breastcancerawareness #cancersucks #breastcancersurvivor #cancersurvivor #cancerawareness #breastcancerawarenessmonth

22.01.2022 The museum is calling out for stories from residents. Take a look at this old photo, We are hoping that somebody might be able to identify who the ladies are and what they were doing? It was sent to us by the Toowoomba Regional Council to aid with signage along Applegum Walk. Council is keen to portray the names of the spots and share any stories and photos that will make the walk more enjoyable to tourists and locals alike. 12.01.2022 Without the generosity of the community volunteers and the kind donors, our village would not be what it is today. Next time you have a chance, call in and take a look about at the great displays and thank a volunteer or even ask to join the team. #volunteers #crowsnestqld #historicalvillage #toowoomba #volunteering #toowoombaregion #highcountryhamlets #seqldcountry #historical #community #visitdarlingdowns #history #darlingdownsregion #whatsontoowoomba #oldtown #heritage

07.01.2022 It is with sadness that we farewell Len Wilmington, upon his retirement today from Crows Nest Historical Society. His commitment as President for numerous years, and his behind the scenes skills of Jack of all Trades, makes Len a hard act to follow, and his absence will be felt. We all extend to Len and his wife Marie, warm heartfelt good wishes for the future. Leanne Murphy President, Crows Nest Historical Society

06.01.2022 Many art group members were keen to take advantage of the invitation to attend a ‘Plein Air’ at the Crows Nest Museum & Historical Village over 2 days this mont...h. If you haven’t been there, you must! It truly is a ‘walk back in time.’ Ideas, sketches and reference photos were collected by the artists to use to create artwork to be displayed at the Nest Cafe in the coming months (date to be confirmed) - that theme will be called ‘A Day at the Museum’ and no doubt there will be a variety of pieces that will catch your eye! Thanks to all who attended and to Kay for welcoming us.. #artistsofcrowsnestqld #crowsnestmuseumandhistoricalvillage #pleinairpainting #crowsnestqld #astepbackintime #artistssupportingartists #historicmuseum

03.01.2022 Did you know Crows Nest QLD is where Ray White Real Estate started? There are now around 1000 offices throughout the world. Pictured in this post is the original office from 1902 but come and see for yourself. We also have the White family home here at the Historical Village in Crows Nest. Perhaps an example of what goes on in Crows Nest doesn’t always stay in Crows Nest. #crowsnestqld #raywhite #toowoombaregion #realestate #visitdarlingdowns #property #historicalvillage #thisisqueensland #highcountryhamlets #raywhitegroup #highcountyhamlets #darlingdowns

01.01.2022 Some questions can only be answered by family members. Is anyone related to the man who wrote a series of articles titled Genesis of Crows Nest under the pseudonym of Dubilyew. In these articles the early history of the districts surrounding the town of Crow's Nest is set out by the writer, who was born on the Darling Downs in the 60's, and spent all his years in that district. He has kept a diary of names, places and events throughout that time.
