25.01.2022 HAPPY EASTER to all... It's very sad for many Bands, that the 2020 Australian National Championships, due to be held in Perth this Easter weekend, had to be cancelled. Instead, many Bands are sharing their memories of Nationals gone by, and the good times they shared. Croydon Brass won the D Grade Nationals 2017, in Launceston Tasmania - a very special memory. The below video (credit to Katy Heath, our Drum Major) shows some of the fun we had together during that amazing and ...memorable weekend. Good times will come again soon, and in the meantime we wish all our families, friends and supporters a Happy Easter and good health. See more

25.01.2022 There may be no concerts this year but... How about everyone join in this weekend for a Concert On The Porch?? Come on, get on board!! Then share a picture or video here with us all to enjoy.

21.01.2022 HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! Many, many Mum's, doing all kinds of Mum-Stuff, are required to create music in our world. To all of them, we thank you and remember all the things you've done for us, today and always.

19.01.2022 With stage 3 restrictions having been recommenced in Melbourne, Bands are still unable to get back together. In the meantime, our dedicated Croydon Brass members continue with our weekly online gatherings and regular blow, so as when we return to the Bandroom, we'll be in good enough form to simply whip out a little warm-up session such as the very impressive one in this link below!

19.01.2022 Anzac Day tomorrow will be like no other. Croydon Brass Band members, along with thousands of other musicians around Australia, will be taking part in the Light Up The Dawn remembrance event. Musicians will be performing the Last Post, standing at the end of their driveways, at 6.00am. Everyone in our community is invited to join in. Simply stand out the front of your house, holding a candle or torch, at 6.00am, and together we will remember and reflect.

17.01.2022 Are our Croydon Brass members practicing this much during the isolation?? We sure hope so!

16.01.2022 Our President, Peter Heath, was asked by Council to submit a video outlining what our three Bands have been doing during the 2020 pandemic. Social inclusion and connection is a huge focus of community music groups, and this is a great demonstration of that!

14.01.2022 ** Four More Sleeps To Go ** During December we are posting Carosls which we hope will bring a smile to your day, just as they did to our day when we got back together after 9 months apart to record them. These Carols were filmed recently in a local park following the easing of restrictions. For us, getting the Band back together was a magical moment, and we would like to share some of that same magic with our Community. We hope you enjoy these little Carol Performances as much as we enjoyed making them. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!

13.01.2022 A wonderful memory to look back on in these isolating times, and a reminder that good times and great fun lay ahead for us all again one day soon! A video of half our band competing in the 2018 Victorian Solo & Ensemble championships. Several younger and less experienced players took the lead parts, and the whole group did a great job under the direction of our Deputy Musical Director Peter Heath.

12.01.2022 WE GOT THE BAND BACK TOGETHER!! After nearly 9 months apart and meeting only via Zoom, today we had a blow and a picnic together! It was wonderful to catch up, have a chat, share some stories, and most importantly hear that beautiful brass band sound again. We created a little something to share with the world while we were at it, so keep an eye on this page during December!

11.01.2022 Encouraging young people to continue playing their instruments by getting involved with community music groups after the school years finish??? We can't think of a better topic for discussion!! Get on board and Zoom into this!!

10.01.2022 The 2020 Victorian Junior Cornet Champion is...MEG BENGER, from Croydon Brass Band! Well done! With the online format this year, it was wonderful to see such a large number of entries from around both Victoria and Australia. Well done to our Croydon Brass members that competed, with each of them placing well in their respective sections:... Alex Moss: 2nd place, Masters Slow Melody Patrick Benger: 3rd place, Junior Euphonium Grace Benger, 4th place, Junior Cornet Congratulations to all the participants, and thank you to the Victorian Bands' League for running the event online during this difficult year. We especially appreciate that you provided a performance opportunity for the younger players who have not had any opportunities this year due to the pandemic restrictions.

10.01.2022 Croydon Brass Band are continuing with our Video Rehearsals, but we have not played together in reality since early March!! As restrictions finally start to ease now in Victoria, we are desperately crossing our fingers that Bands will be able to commence rehearsals and performances again one day very soon! In the meantime, here's a memory of us sharing a wonderful evening with our community at our annual Big Fancy Concert in 2018!

10.01.2022 The Croydon Brass Band's original Bandroom. Luckily we didn't need space for social distancing back then! It's also lucky that 'health and safety' was not a thing too!

07.01.2022 Hello Everyone! Just thought we would let all our supporters know that the Band is still functioning in these isolated and strange times. No, we are not rehearsing or performing as usual. But yes, we are still working to keep ourselves well-prepared for events later in the year! We are using online technologies to keep our members engaged with each other, and we're all still practicing hard to prepare for future performances.... We hope all our fans, friends and families are keeping busy and well during these trying times, and we look forward to seeing you all very soon! See more

07.01.2022 Croydon Brass are still unable to rehearse in the Bandroom, or do any performances, due to the current pandemic restrictions. So here's a fun memory from the past, as we await more fun times together very soon!

07.01.2022 2020 is the first time in many, many years that the Band has missed a Christmas in Main Street Croydon. We've certainly missed entertaining and interacting with our local community this year. But don't worry...we'll be back one day soon!

06.01.2022 After so many months without proper rehearsals, there's a good chance our next Band Concert may well look like this entertaining mess!

06.01.2022 As we sit home, alone, in these strange times, doing Band Rehearsals Online, it's a good time to reflect on some of the good times. None have been so good as when we won the 2017 Australian Nationals! Enjoy this Summary post - 3 years ago today.

06.01.2022 A fond farewell: It is with great sadness that we farewell a beloved life-long member of Croydon Citizens' Bands, Phil Baker. As President for 10 years and a strong driver for the Band in the 60's and 70's, Phil was a quiet man, yet his contributions and dedication were truly significant. He was a friend and mentor to many who have since gone on to also dedicate their lives to Croydon Bands and the wider music community.... Phil's family have also been involved with the Bands through many years. Often in the background and in his well known humble and quiet manner, Phil continued to support our Bands throughout his life. Phil will be greatly missed, and his contributions will be always appreciated. We extend our sincere condolences to the entire Baker family at this sad time, and thank them for sharing Phil with us.

06.01.2022 Bloody pandemic... The Australian National Band Championships 2021 to be held in Newcastle, have been cancelled. That's two years in a row now. Such a shame. Here's hoping the world of Brass Banding gets up and running again very soon.

04.01.2022 Lest We Forget.

01.01.2022 Croydon Brass Band held a members 'Online Soiree' tonight! We even had the pleasure of our friend and legend, Mr Wayne Bowden, joining us! Everyone practiced and prepared a Solo to perform, and sat around our houses coming together via Zoom to enjoy a night of fabulous performances! It's not easy to keep the Band going in these isolating times without much inspiration or goals to work toward. But at a Croydon we are making sure we're maintaining our skills and will be ready to start entertaining our community again as soon as the doors are open! We hope all our friends and supporters are keeping well, and we send you our very best wishes.

01.01.2022 ** EDIT: David has just been found, and he seems ok! Thanks to all who shared, family are very grateful. MISSING PERSON - We need your help! David Christensen is a valued and respected member of Croydon Brass Band, and he's our good friend. David went missing on the morning of Sunday 14th June.... Family and police are extremely concerned, and have asked for our help by sharing this post amongst our communities. So please take a moment to share it, especially around Belgrave and the eastern suburbs. We are all hoping for a positive outcome very soon. See more

01.01.2022 Happy Father's Day to all our wonderful Band Dads. You play many roles in our lives - supporters, taxi drivers, money trees, advisers, butt-kickers and so much more - and we appreciate you for all of it!

01.01.2022 CROYDON'S CHRISTMAS ONLINE - JINGLE BELLS! It's been 9 months since the Band has actually played together. It goes without saying that when we were able to get back together we simply had to start with one of our favorite things.... CHRISTMAS CAROLS! Each week leading up to Christmas, we will be posting a Carol which we hope will bring a smile to your day. These Carols were filmed recently in a local park following the easing of restrictions. For us, getting the Band bac...k together was a magical moment, and we would like to share some of that same magic with our Community.
