21.01.2022 ‘Crunch Time’ is a headline that often appears in print and feels like a little bit of subliminal advertising for us. I was looking through the phone yesterday and found this one I’d snapped from Epicure in 2017 when it felt like the tide was beginning to turn on hospitality related waste. Since this article came out a large portion of the country’s recyclables went straight to landfill. On top of this Covid-19 has increased our use of takeaway packaging and other disposable ...items especially in Victoria where the hotel quarantine cock up lead to stage 4 restrictions. Watching the judicial inquiry and the collective amnesia made our blood boil. So, no we don’t stand with Dan. We are sick of the platitudes, the lack of accountability and watching the vulnerable bear the blame and the brunt of so many poor choices by the VIctorian Government. Thankfully we transitioned to compostables years ago and so many of you bring your own cups so let’s end this rant on a high note with a pic of some plants taking root in our repurposed cups (made from sugar cane or bamboo processing byproducts) which are perfect for seedling trays with a few holes poked into them, hold up well to watering and when ready can be stuck straight in the garden.
