22.01.2022 This is from my brother Jeno Kapitany. He is dealing with this issue at one of our other businesses. Collectors Corner Garden World. Hi Everyone, ... We are living in a new world where new realities are essential for us to continue to trade and serve the public. I am tired of seeing anti maskers and conspiracy theorists attempt to dictate how we as business and to a greater extent how our society functions. We are in the middle of an epidemic that affects everything that we now do, whilst some governments may be over excessive with their requirements the point is they are trying to solve a "Real" issue that will have serious and long term affects to the world. I find it incredible that there is a small minority out there that are far more interested in their own personal rights that the good of society and are willing to use any means possible to circumvent the laws irrespective of the need for those to be in place. Being in a position of responsibility is no longer tenable as your are dammed if you do and dammed if you don't. At Collectors Corner and Paradisia we have had our own share of issues with anti-maskers. Last Saturday we had a women who barged into the shop avoiding the queue of customers at the door. She refused to discuss the issue with the staff member who approached her and stepped within his personal space being aggressive. She was not wearing a mask. Soon after she was confronted by other customers who tried to raise the queue jumping and mask issue with her but she aggressively invaded their space forcing them to step back, she then started a fight with the two women. She then rang the police in an attempt to charge the customers but after reviewing our security footage the police ended up charging her. A total of 4 police and two ambulance drivers attended as she also called for medical help even though she had no injuries. We have also had issues at our wholesale operation at Paradisia where we had a no mask no entry policy, we would accept medical exemptions with proof but were confronted by a group called 'Human Rights Advocates' who insisted that under The Victorian Equal Opportunities Act 2010 that proof was not required. Clearly the use of this law now empowers anyone to simply claim they have an exception for not wearing a mask. Police now longer have the power to enforce the law because of the use of an act that was designed to protect the unfortunate, not the enabled. All anyone has to now do is say they have an exception with no proof and they can get away with it. These groups have now forced most larger companies to change their rules re masks under the threat of legal action using this act. It is so disappointing that event like Covid can bring out the worst in people. Suck it up and do the right thing, don't use law to make a mockery of another law simply to prove your have rights over everyone else's rights. I am still awaiting my summons to appear before the tribunal. Jeno Kapitany

21.01.2022 Calcite Crystals is the new secret message decoder

19.01.2022 It was David Attenborough that inspired me to study Geology. While I never wanted to pursue a career as a geologist, I studied both Botany , Geology and Mining ...in my final years at University. I have never actually been employed as a Geologist by anyone, though I have done some free consulting for fun. Geology and Botany allowed me to understand the land, it’s history and evolution during my travels around the world. During this time I have pegged and mined over 60 small mining leases around Australia for specimens and fossils. To this day I still have 30 active projects or so. I have also been very fortunate to get access to numerous commercial mines even though I was never employed as part of the process. Industrias Penoles Mine in Naica in Mexico , the Cave of Giants was certainly the ultimate experience. It is the world’s largest silver mine. In the early 90’s I was extremely fortunate to be invited to visit, stay and collect from the Elizabeth Hill Silver Project 40 kms South of Karratha. I flew into Karratha Western Australia, where I was picked up by the mine cook and driven to the mine site. Exploring the dumps I was able to pick up small silver specimens that were missed in the extraction process. The following day I was taken underground. The main shaft was quite narrow and the elevator was clipping/ securing myself onto a cable and standing on top of the ore bucket that went up and down supported by the head frame and winch. The levels were incredibly rich with native silver, acanthite, embolite ( silver halide) and surprisingly, fine Vanadinite crystals. Even native Silver wires could be seen in situ. Eventually I was able to save and acquire over 100 kgs of specimens from the smelters. The very best was sold to Warren Sommerville. I prefered to sell specimens locally so they stayed in Auatralia, eventually I saw it for sale in USA after his collection was sold. A very large specimen was donated by me to Museum Victoria though the valuer ( not RS) valued it at Silver ore value, which was very disappointing ( many dealers were jealous of my activities and still are). https://karrathametals.com.au/elizabeth-hill-silver-project/ See more

17.01.2022 A memory from last year

17.01.2022 I would like to thank the following people for a facinating intriguing weekend. Some are directly or even indirectly involved. Intellectually it an amazing exercise in understanding social media and the role it plays in our lives, how is benefits us and how it can hurt us. While I may not agree with some of their beliefs, I support their right to protest and express their views, though I am now aware so are some are not generous with regards to my beliefs . With special... thanks to Adam Jordon for setting such an amazing standard of response. Thank you Adam for this experience. Reignite Democracy , I think we should all join and share our ideas with Monica. I would love to share a discussion I had with Candy Oates. This discussion with her is not about the people below but only those that have abused me. These people below are only exercising their personal freedoms as they have the right to do so. So thanks to all below for their participation in this weeks event. Take care and stay safe . It will be remembered by me for many years to come . Candy Oates by taking away my rights ? Isn’t that what you are fighting for ? So your rights supersede mine ? Isn’t that what you accuse the government of ? We have had physical threats, phones spammed , reviews spammed because I excercised my rights . Is that fair,? In turn should I do the same to groups and people like you? Protest is good, debate is great But when people rely on threats and intimidation, they become terrorists, and people like you become participants. Dictating what I may or may not do on my property and with my business and try to jeopardise the jobs of 56 of my staff. All I can say in Nuts and you should be ashamed of yourself if you condone these activities. Oh and the Federal and state police I’m sure have taken note of your comments . Copy and paste if you want to share this post.

14.01.2022 Being a Geologist, Botanist and Horticulturalist, I have decided to start landscaping Crystal World ( and my home ). Not having lots of patience to wait for things to grow, I like the instant garden effect by using larger specimens. Giant rocks will be added last. Still have about 8 ton of large Rose Quartz boulders to play with and another twenty ton due to arrive next week.

13.01.2022 My Cycas revoluta’s seem to be having more fun in my garden than I am. Cycad sex at its best. I think you can figure out which is the male cone and which is t...he female cone. 11.01.2022 I have been very fortunate to be able to retrieve some very old photos. Two ex staff over the last 30 years and one very recently deliberately corrupted my phot...o files / website. With the help of Michael Daeché I’ve discovered photos I thought had been lost for good. I have been travelling to China since 1989, having travelled there now well over a hundred times. My early years there were for visiting Bonsai nurseries and potteries with government officials, then visiting mines and buying minerals. These photo are from the early 90’s . China was a very different country then. Foreigners were restricted from visiting rural areas, where the standard of living was very poor. Travelling with Guo Zhouping by train into Hunan to visit the Antinomy mines and the bow famous Ba Ba Si mine ( 884 mine). We shared a train cabin with a very old Chinese lady, she made her own shoes from strips of bamboo. Zhouping could only understand half of what she spoke as many rural dialects existed then that he could barely understand. We meet up the Zheng Zhang Rong ? along the way who guided us to the mines. I was warned that I maybe questioned by the police in the area. After driving with a 4x 4 car on a very rough unmade road for about two hours or so we went to the house of the miner, he had boxes full of calcite twins, amazing specimens. We were then taken into the mine with a very steep adit decent. There were no significant minerals to be seen. Though it was an amazing hike to the mine site. We were taken back to the main town , the drive back was so rough that the car frame actually bent preventing my door from opening. We negotiated with the mine owner who wasn’t present at the time by phone to buy all the boxes of crystals. Waiting for two days in the hotel the crystals finally arrived. All the single twin crystals, hundreds of them were not packed or wrapped, none survived the journey, all became bruised and chipped. Fortunately I was able to take three larger specimens back from the miners house and carefully wrapped them at the time. It was so sad to have to see amazing world class crystal clear specimens damaged. We also visited the main Antimony mine, this was well before world class specimens were found. The adit had a very low roof as most Chinese miners are short and we waded though water with our boots My helmet kept hitting the exposed electrical cable running along the ceiling. Not a very safe place to visit. All mining was by hand, and all the ore broken and graded at the working face by hand , I’m sure I have more photos somewhere showing this.
